Kisuke sighed combing his fingers under his hat through his hair. He hated the thought that crossed his mind, but it was the only way to protect Yumiko. He looked to Tessai with another sigh his unspoken words relayed clearly as Tessai pushed up and folded his hands together once more.
Mumbling a passage, a white light formed around Yumiko sealing all her powers. It was painless, causing her no harm and she was unaware that is even happened. Tessai left her to where she could talk to Mizue no Kagami, she just was not able to call on her powers. It was the best for Yumiko with her unstable situation, and it was the only way to keep her and the others in the shop safe.
Kisuke petted her head again adjusting his hat as she lay in her bed curled into a ball. "I am sorry Yumiko, but this is the only way until you have calmed down."

Entering the shop after bidding Rangiku goodbye Kita could feel the heavy energy surrounding her. Something was up, but what? She quickly dropped her things at the front door and ran toward the back. Entering the living room she turned looking down the hall seeing Vacanze step from the opened door of Yumiko's room. She quickly headed that way as Vacanze looked up seeing her.
"Whoa there, Firestone. I think right now is not a good time." Vacanze told her stepping between her and the open door of Yumiko's room. His hands were full with the broom and dustpan as he was he was unable to grab hold of her.
Kita tried to step around Vacanze as he stepped in her way again. "Vacanze please," Kita begged she could feel Kisuke and Tessai's reiatsu in the room with Yumiko.
He sighed shaking his head, "not right now babe. Give them a few more minutes."
"What happened?" She asked trying to peek in the room.
Vacanze urged her back down the hall with his arms as he stepped forward. Kita did as he ask giving Kisuke and Tessai a few more minutes.

Yumiko lashed out a few more time before realizing her powers had been stripped from her, and the pain from Orihime's words remained. No matter what she said. Each of her bitter words triggering other moments. Finally, Yumiko just stayed curled up, turned away and trembling. Waiting. Waiting as she had when she had first been thrown away. Waiting for the hurt to bleed away.

Kisuke petted Yumiko's hair looking to Tessai once more. "Help her relax if you can." He nodded to Kisuke as Kisuke looked down to Yumiko. "Yumiko, you have to be strong. None of this is your fault no matter how much they forced you to believe that lie." He let his hand caress the length of her hair as he felt her shaking under his touch. He sighed shaking his head.
Then suddenly she started to relax her eyes fluttering closed as Tessai let a relaxing Kido course through her. Yumiko sighed hard as her body stopped shaking and started to relax.
"That's it, just relax Yumiko. We are here for you. Just relax."

But would you still be there for me if I’m the reason you lost a close friend? Would you forgive me? Yumiko stayed curled up, her mind finally clearing, letting Orihime’s foul words rain down on her. I’m sorry. She didn’t know if that mattered. She couldn’t change the fact that Orihime was gone from them. Her throbbing hands clenched.

Entering the room after Vacanze explained what was going on with Yumiko, Kita walked over sitting at Yumiko's side. She took her hand in her and smiled as Yumiko looked up at her through groggy eyes.
"I will always be there for you no matter what and Hime does not hate you. She is just confused. She doesn't know who she is right now. Kinda like I was when Sumi had my memories blocked." She brushed the hair from Yumiko's face with her free hand, still smiling warmly at her. "In time she will remember who she is and she will be right back with us where she belongs. It just takes time... All good things come in the end."
Kita leaned over the top of Yumiko and kissed her temple as she whispered softly. "All good things come in the end, and I will always be there for you no matter what, Yumiko. Please, remember that always. Always."

Yumiko closed her eyes, letting Kita’s words soothe the pain left behind by Orihime’s words, but there still remained one fact that could push Kita away. She hesitated and then clenched her hands, gathering her courage. “Kita, I-” she sat up and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, “I slept with Vale,” she admitted quietly. “Or- Inoue saw me in the morning…. I’m sorry.” She lowered her head, hiding the tears pooling in her eyes, but she had said it aloud, admitting to surrendering, of her choice in the matter.

Kita only smiled wrapping her arms around Yumiko hugging her tightly. "Was it your choice?" Kita asked her. "He did not rape you, did he?"
Yumiko shook her head quietly. "I surrendered to him... the second time." She shook her head again. "He - There was something building between us. Even with what he had done to you - to Inoue, I - I gave him a second chance." She lowered her head, more aware of Kisuke's presence in the room. "I helped him get Chinmoku back."
Kita pulled back from the hug, her smile still in place. "There is nothing wrong with that. You did what you felt was right. Its hard not to judge a person by their actions or what they have done in the past. To truly get to know a person you have to be willing to see past their flaws and get to know them. Its then you find out that-- most of the time; what they have done was for valid reasons. Even if what they did was completely unorthodox. Its when it is done out of selfishness that you want to beware. People that only think of themselves can be dangerous." Kita tilted her head as Yumiko looked up at her. "You saw something in Vale no one else saw. Maybe not even himself sees it, but you did. For that same reason is why I gave Gin a second chance. Because I knew in my heart Gin was not the person everyone accused him of being."
Kita's smile grew brighter as she looked into Yumiko's eyes and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "Not to mention." She leaned forward and whispered in Yumiko's ear for only her to hear. "Vale's a hotty."
Kita pulled back with her finger over her lips. "Shhhh, if you repeat that I will deny every word of it."

Yumiko stared at Kita in shock before she blushed deeply and started laughing, real laughter that shook her shoulders and made different tears come to her eyes. “Ki- Kita, how can you say that? You- you-” She didn’t get to finish her thought before the laughter took control of her and she could do little but lean against her friend and laugh. Kita’s explanation had made sense but the ending was just so silly that she couldn’t stop herself. Everything just transformed into another wave of laughter. And she didn't know why. But it felt good. Hiccuping, she tried to regain control.

Kita laughed softly at first with Yumiko's reaction, then joined her friend in a full roll of laughter. She had accomplished what she set out to do. Make Yumiko feel better. This however, was so much more then she bargained for. She was not expecting to get her to laugh, a real laugh at that, but it made Kita feel really good inside to help Yumiko through a very hard time. She did not deserve what had happened to her. Yumiko, just like her, was a product of circumstance. They did what they had to do to stay alive, right or wrong. It was the only way if they wanted to make it home alive. And to let her beat herself up over it was wrong.
Kita took a deep breath and settled down as she looked at Yumiko again. "I guess I should practice what I preach, huh?"
Yumiko settled as well tilting her head at what Kita just said. "Huh?"
"Exactly," Kita giggled softly again as she playfully shoulder bumped Yumiko.

Yumiko chuckled and hugged Kita tightly. “Thank you, Kita. I’ll always be here for you, too.” She looked to her healing hands. “It’s thanks to you I’m free. If I had never been told about Aizen…” She shrugged, not finishing the statement, and sighed with a slight smile. Koga had been telling the truth about one thing. She couldn’t use the word ‘illusion’ to push aside all that had happened in Las Noches, but that didn’t mean she had to let her time there tie her down. It had passed. She was determined to put it behind her. She looked back up, turning to Kisuke. “I apologize for whatever I broke. When- when I heard about Inoue, something gave inside me. I - I had to fight back.” She looked down into her lap again. Before Kisuke could respond to that Kita sprang up and pulled Yumiko up with her, making her blink in confusion. She winked. “You need ice cream and a shopping trip. I’m sure Kisuke is finished with the gigai you needed.” “Gi-Gigai?” Yumiko sputtered before Kita started dragging her down the hall. “Wa-wait, Kita!” Kisuke chuckled and tipped his hat. “Leave it to my girl to know the right answer to the problem before us.” He rose and patted Tessai’s shoulder. “We’ll return her powers when they get back. Let’s get this room fixed up.” |

"Waking with Clearer Eyes": (continued) "Hm," Kisuke hummed, motioning to the table. "Would you have a cup of tea with us? Another friend of hers is waking her. She should be out soon." Kisuke stepped aside, letting her walk over to the table as the group took a seat around it.
"That is very sweet of you to stop by and pay your respects to her--" Kisuke stopped short not remembering the girls name. "Tana--" the young girl went to remind him as he cut her."Tanaka," he finally replied with a smirk. "Yes, I am sure she will be pleased to see you again. Kita doesn't forget many. So I am sure she will remember you."

Raelin hesitated and then took a seat. There was something in the air, warning her to be cautious, and she could ask the human girl for some time alone after a short meeting. As long as she stayed calm, there was no reason for the others to remember her long. Taking the cup of tea offered, she sipped it quietly, keeping her eyes down.

Kita and Ichigo walked from the hall, Kita wearing a bright smile as she looked at Ichigo. "Thank you Ichigo. I needed that."
Hearing what Kita said Vacanze looked up from his cup of tea. Looking intently at Ichigo and Kita. "And what might that have been?" His eyes then moved focusing on Ichigo only. "You better watch yourself boy. If Ichimaru doesn't kick your ass for messing with her, I will. Keep those raging hormones in check."
Ichigo turned beat-red as Kita looked to Vacanze with narrowed eyes and her hands on her hips, "Vacanze! That was not nice. You know how embarrassed Ichi gets."

Ichigo shook his head furiously and then stomped over to the ex-espada, palming his face into the wall behind him. "You're the one with all the dirty thoughts," he smirked. "Don't lump in with the likes of you, V-man. I like my rep."
