Gin chuckled. "I think I want to hear the story behind this statement," he declared.
As he waited for Kisuke to finish sipping his tea, Gin's mind turned back to "the brat". He wasn't surprised that the boy wanted his head. After what he'd gone through for Kita, Gin would have been surprised if Tsukiro didn't search him out in the end. Even if he had shown growth in accepting Sojiro, one thing hadn't changed. Gin had stolen Kita from Tsukiro AND killed Aizen. To someone who had hunted for vengeance as long as he had - had spent years dealing with the long consequences - this action was clear enough. He would have to face the boy.

"Our sweet little Kita is not so defenseless anymore. We continued her training that Aizen started with the sword. She trains three, sometimes four days a week. She has been trained by an array of swordsmen. From Masters to students. She also has some pretty awesome powers," his grin grew wider, "and they're not Sumi's. They're her own."
Confused, Gin looked at Kisuke as he explained in detail a little more - using Ichigo and his friends as an example. "So with Kita having such close contact with Sumi, the same thing has happened to her. She can shield herself completely in a spear-like barrier. I have hit it with Benihime's shikai and the shield doesn't budge. Her healing has also gotten better. So much, she can regenerate lost body parts."
"Who lost a limb?" Gin asked.
"No one. The boys were running around the house one day. They ran into the kitchen and ran into Tessai as he was chopping veggies and he caught the tip of his finger, cutting it off. Kita went to heal it and instead, the tip of the finger grew back."

Gin smiled. “So this is what she meant by a surprise when I woke up. She’s stronger and no longer needs our protection.” He chuckled, looking out of the window again. That would certainly change the dynamics of any new battles they were engaged in, but he doubted his protective tendency towards her would change just like that. Some habits died hard.
His smile faded, turning serious again when he faced Kisuke again. “What do you plan to do when the brat decides to fight me? Anything?”

Kisuke smiled with a slight chuckle. "Are you saying you need my help?" He raised a brow. "Has eight years in a coma made you that rusty?" Kisuke chuckled again as Gin narrowed his eyes at him once more.
"I don't think I will have to do anything. You're more then capable of taking care of yourself. As is Tsukiro. Correct?"

Gin gave him another muted glare in response. "I can handle the brat, even if he is grown up. But I wanted to know if you would interfere so I knew how much time I had to set things right in that department. When others interfere, it doesn't have the same feeling as when you deal with it yourself."

Kisuke waved a carefree hand at him as he picked up his tea cup again. "I think I have put my neck on the line enough for the both of you. You're both men. Deal with this however you wish."
He took a sip of his tea and looked at Gin from under his hat. "As you know - better then most - scars come in many shapes, sizes and ways. Lessons must be taught by many teachers. That is how we all learn."

Gin nodded. He looked up at the shopkeeper and then back down into his teacup, deciding about whether to say something or not. His fingers tapped along the sides.
“Are you going to say something or just stare into that cup until it grows cold?” Kisuke murmured, watching him closely.
Gin’s fingers stopped and after a few moments, he set the cup aside. He hesitated and then looked back up, meeting Kisuke’s eyes with his clear sky blue ones. “I apologize for the scars I am responsible for in regards to Kita and Sojiro.”

Kisuke looked at him deciding to play dumb as he continued to look at him wide eyed. "And what scars might that be?" He had to hear him say it, and for some odd reason, he felt Gin needed to say it. Gin needed to hear himself say it out loud. So he too could hear how crazy it sounded when spoke instead of thought.
He had to stop taking blame. It was one of his worst features. "Come on, spit it out." Kisuke coaxed him.

Gin eyes narrowed as the shopkeeper played dumb. What was he playing at now? But it wouldn’t stop him. He was going to say this. “I kept our promise and did what I could to protect Kita from Aizen. I will not apologize for most of what happened as a direct result of that vow. However, that doesn’t change the fact that I enjoyed beating her within an inch of her life. That I let my bloodlust override any affection for her. And that I stole her away from her the brat. And when she agonized over it, I still kept her.”

Kisuke was tempted to give him a good firm whack with his fan, but he resisted the urge and only nodded. He picked up his cup and looked down into it as he began. "Kita and I talked. I am sure you know, and though your apologizes are noted and appreciated, there is no need. I heard the story, and though there are always two sides, I believe I got both with what Kita told me.
He looked up at Gin. "Do you truly think I did not know what would happen or could have happened?" Kisuke looked on at Gin as he sat there looking at him. "You might think you can fool me," Kisuke's fan popped out, but nothing more as Kisuke looked into the mans eyes.
"But you can't. I have to say I am partly to blame here for a lot of this. I hoped it would not happen," Kisuke shook his head, "no, I can't say that either. I hoped for the best outcome." He smiled as his hand went to Gin's shoulder and patted it lightly. "And that's what I got. The best outcome."

Gin blinked, partly in confusion and partly in denial. Finally, he lifted his own cup again and sipped at his tea. Looking into the reflection, he couldn’t help but wonder which person was the better manipulator, Aizen, his dead enemy, or Kisuke Urahara, the man who had taken him in when no one else would. Either way - no matter what details came about - what he said was true. “Thanks, I think,” he chuckled. It was the best outcome. His genuine smile returned.
Walking back into the room with some dessert for Gin to celebrate his awakening, Tessai held out a box to Kisuke. “Boss, I found these on the table. What do I do with them?”
Curious, Gin looked over at them. The box held five small stones, white with a blue shimmer like the power signature in his eyes. Gin tilted his head towards Kisuke, even more intrigued. “What did you find this time, Hat-n-Clogs?”

"I have found nothing. I created these," Kisuke said looking into the box. "I called them the White Knight. Pretty. Don't you think?" Kisuke looked to Gin then back to Tessai. His hand waved at him carelessly. "You can toss them out, Tessai."
Tessai looked down into the box with a puzzled look and shrugged his shoulder slowly placing the lid back over them. "Alright then, Boss."
Kisuke looked back to his teacup as he heard Gin speak up.

"Wait!" Gin said, standing up uneasily and then falling back to his seat He pointed to the box. "Let me see those one more time." As Tessai nodded and handed him the box, he examined the stones. Five in total were resting there, with more dashes of blue in the largest gemstone. He looked back up. "If you really don't want them, I'll take them. I need a present for Kita, an apology for being gone so long."

Kisuke set his cup to the table and nodded, "If you want them they're all ours."
Tessai extended his arm box in hand and handed them over to Gin. "What are you going to do with them, Ichimaru?"
Kisuke looked at Gin with a questioning look as well with Tessai's question. "Yes what will you do with them? They're only loose stones."

Gin held up the largest stone against the light, smiling again as it glistened. "I am going to borrow our jeweler and commission a ring for Kita," he stated plainly. "Maybe give Soji a small amulet.... if there's enough left over..."
Kisuke nodded slowly. "That will be a nice bobble for them. I am sure both of them will really like that." Kisuke looked to Gin once more. "I guess we can finally get rid of the barrier around your room now. It's going to feel odd not having that energy radiating around the shop after eight years."
Gin chuckled and hid the stones in his kimono. "Then I will go looking for the redhead. I doubt he can get them done today, but maybe it can be finished this week." He rose unsteadily to his feet. His eyes narrowed. "Maybe I will train with him after I am done being wakened by Kita."
