Evita chuckled, enjoying the show. “Do you need some water?” she proposed in mock sympathy, indicating the sink, her eyes glittering in challenge. Waiting for him to fold.
Sojiro glared at her as he swallowed. “No thank you, brat.”
She smiled, tilting her head the other way. “It’s not my fault it’s too colorful for you.”
“Smart ass,” he grinned. He poked at the plate of food. “At least it’s not gummy bears.”
“Idiot,” she retorted, “gummies go in ice cream, cookies, and pancakes.”
There was a method to her madness.

Sojiro bumped her in retaliation but didn’t get a chance to retort because the back door opened to reveal Vacanze and Gin, both looking harried and a bit bloody. “Are they gone?”
“For now,” Vacanze growled. “We’ll probably get more of them this week. I’ll be back out for dinner.” He ruffled Sojiro’s hair and poked Evita’s forehead before heading to the living area.
Evita huffed and rubbed her forehead, scooping up more rice.
“Did you meet Ide?” Gin asked his son as he leaned against the wall.
“Briefly,” Sojiro murmured. "He was too scared and focused on Daj. Yoruichi was helping calm them both down, so I stepped out.” He looked from Evita to his dad and swallowed. “Mom?”

Gin bit back a snarl and walked up to his son, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Not yet, but I’m going back out as soon as that dumb Ayakashi gets to check on Yuzu. We know she’s in the city somewhere and there hasn’t been any fluctuations. Wherever she is…. she’s not been hurt. I’d sense that.”
“But Aizen has her?”
“Yes…” Gin hissed lowly.
Sojiro looked down to his sling. “I see…”
Gin's hand tightened on his boy's shoulder, silent too. He couldn't keep making the same promises every night, but he didn't know what to say beyond that. This was the only thing he could do and keep the status quo around them as much as possible.

“You’ll find her…” Both Ichimarus turned to Evita as she spoke up as she slid chocolate away from a part of the omrice. “You always do… Even Father- Aizen said as much. It was a pain to get around…” She poked her cousin with the handle of the spoon. “There, only one combination.”
Sojiro managed a smile. “Okay.”

Gin watched the kids as his son took another bite from the dish before him, chuckling a moment later as he flinched. “Too sweet still?” he prompted.
“Too hot,” both kids chorused, one with watery eyes and one with a smug grin. The two looked to each other, as if daring one to break the challenge.
Gin snickered, more of his tension fading. “Then get a drink,” he retorted, grinning. He walked over to the sink and filled a glass of tap water, pushing it at him as the two continued their staring contest. “And next time, use your nose if it’s something hot.”
He picked up an apple and retrieved Sojiro’s knife, peeling it.
All in the room started as another person walked into the room, Vale- Seto Tervaden. Gin’s eyes narrowed despite his momentary good mood. This chaos had all started because of this man’s move to destroy Sada, and though he couldn’t blame the man, he could and would resent him for the timing.
He waved a hand at the hallway. “The shopkeeper’s down the hall, either in his lab or the living area with your kids.”

Seto nodded as he walked into the room. He looked to Evita and Soji and gave a quick nod. "I'll get to them in a moment." he said, turning his attention to Ichiamru. "But, for right now," Seto stopped speaking and turned back to the young Aizen sitting at the table. His eyes narrowed.
"I wouldn't, if I were you, little Aizen. My head is not a place you'd want to spend time in. Besides, you're too old to not understand the concept of boundaries and consent." Seto, without another word to the girl, turned his attention back to Ichimaru.
"I need to talk to you...And, considering you have two of the nosiest people in Karakura sitting at the table there...I doubt moving to another room would even help." The sounds of heads hitting the table made Seto look over his shoulder. Both Soji and Evita were knocked out. He tapped the hilt of his blade. "Chinmoku...Good little sleep aid." he smiled and took a step back. Ichimaru had taken the defensive. Seto raised a hand.
"Kita wanted me to let you know that she's alright. And, that she needs you and everyone else looking for her to stop."
"And, you know this how?"
"The same way I knocked them out, is the same way I keep an eye on everyone I care about. She's got a shard of Chinmoku in her too. I can talk to her. Hear what's going on around. I can even see through her eye's if I want. But," Seto raised his hand again. "She's safe, Gin. He did this for her safety. Looking for her jeopardizes that."

Gin scoffed, his irritation growing each moment. He already had more than enough reasons to dislike the man in front of him. But now that he had a way to speak to Kita when he didn’t? When he seemed to know more about the situation that kept Kita cut off from everyone she loved or cared for? It was bullshit.
But as much as he wanted to call him out for it, as well as his hypocrisy towards the children in front of them, he couldn’t completely dismiss his words. Gin didn’t think Vale-Seto had turned on them — not as long as he sent his children to be protected at the shop — so that meant that Kita had indeed sent these words to him. He hated that.
For more than one reason. If Kita was calm about this, she had accepted the dire situation and sacrificed her happiness for everyone else. Again. And he could do nothing to stop her. She had lost so much and life was demanding more from her now!? Even separating her from her sons! Despicable!
But more than that, Kita accepting any kind of arrangement with his former master before even calling back Sumi and going to Godly Realm begged all sorts of questions. Schemes. Answers to which he did not presently have.
But where would he get them? Was this still a game of chess or had they progressed to something else? He needed time.
“Well, congratulations then!" he retorted, unable to keep the sneer out of his voice. "Looks like Kadaj will grow up without his mother the same way that Sojiro grew up without his father. I hope that’s acceptable to you if you’re going to play shadow messenger.” He deftly cut the apple in slices and set them down on the plate. "And for your information, I’m telling Sojiro your message so your rude sleep drug was unnecessary.”
Gin was done playing as a piece in other people’s chess games, and that included his family. He would break this stalemate, even if he had to do it alone.

Seto shook his head. “And here I thought putting the children to sleep meant I didn’t have to deal with a childish response. But, then again, I am speaking with the oldest child in the room.” He caught Ichimaru’s gaze.
“I told Kita that I would give you this message. But, I should have kept this to myself.” Seto looked the man-child over. “What the fuck does she see in you? Everything is a game to you. I bet you’re thinking of this as a game of chess. Hm? How does Gin Ichimaru plan on outwitting us all this time?”
Frustrated, Seto slammed a heavy fist to the table. ”I am warning you now, Gin.” Seto stepped as close to Ichimaru as the man would allow. “If you do anything to jeopardize Kita in this situation, I will use the shard I keep in your stupid ass to turn your brain into fucking soup.” Before stepping away Seto looked the man in the eyes.
“Your first plan to protect someone you loved from Aizen didn’t work out so well. So, be a good boy and sit this one out until you’re told to move. Because the only way my son grows up without a mother is if you get in the way. And…” Seto narrowed his eyes. “I will kill your first.”
Seto stepped away and called for his sons. He kept hood eyes on Ichimaru as Ide walked by with Kadaj in his arms. “One more thing, Kisuke knows.” Seto smiled and disappeared from the room.

Gin chuckled, lowering his head over his bangs. "Of course he does," he lisped, hands clenching at his sides. He had suspected... but didn't want to go down that road. "He lifted his head, signature smirk taking ove his face. "Then I'm all more the fool for waiting this long then." He walked over to his son. "Time to reclaim my rightful title, Shadow, and I dare you to mess with my head."
He shook Sojiro's shoulder until he stirred. "Dad? Wha- what happened?"
"Blame Vale for that and enjoy it while you do so, but I needed to wake you before I go."
"You're going back out now, aren't you?" Soji asked.
His father grinned. "Yes and no, Soji. I am leaving town. Seto says your mother is safe, so I am going to trust him and take the next steps to getting her back." His eyes narrowed. "With or without their consent...."
Sojiro put a hand on his father's hand. "Dad? You're not doing something stupid, are you?"
Gin shook himself from his momentary rage and ruffled his son's hair. "Not anymore than what your mother is currently doing, but I won't be around for a while."
"Where are you going?"
Gin pulled his son close. "Let's just say that I'm collecting on old debts, Soji. It's time that they pay for our happiness that's been the cost of their lives. Keep an eye on your brother when Vale is around and give Vacanze a message for me."
"Just Vacanze?"
His father released him and Sojiro blinked at the wide, wicked expression on his father's face. What was he up to?
"Just him. You'll see why~"
Sojiro shook his head. It was hard to be worried when his father looked that confident, eyes blazing underneath his silver hair. Whatever had happened when Vale had knocked them out seemed to have given him new strength. "Be careful?"
"For you, your brother, and your lovely mother, always~"
He lowered his head to Sojiro's ears, whispering his message, and then stood again, as his son's eyes scrunched up in confusion. That reminded him of another matter. "Keep an eye on Evita when you can too. The hollows will be on the move and she might be affected."
"Can I fight them?" Sojiro demanded.
"Not unless your grandfather or cousin Kenji say that your connection with that blade is good enough," Gin rebutted. "That's your main job while I'm gone and your surprise for your mother."
Sojiro nodded. "I'll do it!"
"Good." He looked around the room. It'd been a while since he hadn't felt at ease there. Oh well, it had only been a matter of time. "Well then, enjoy dinner."
Without another word, he strode outside the door, disappearing in a whoosh of shunpo.

Sojiro rubbed at his shoulder where he had fallen against the table, realizing that his father's energy had vanished immediately. Wherever he was going, he didn't plan on letting others know. He frowned to himself. What did that message mean? "Kisuke knows" Why would that matter to Vacanze and no one else? And what had his grandfather done?
As Evita stirred, he put the matter aside. He'd figure it out later. He turned to her, telling her what had happened.
Evita poked at her omrice as he spoke, mood subdued, and though Sojiro tried to provoke her with another bite of her meal, she stayed quiet, leaving the table as soon as Tessai came out to ask for any last minute requests for dinner.
Tessai moaned that she hadn't finished her food and Sojiro sighed.
Would the evening continue to be a mess?
At least his father had a plan that made him seem as sharp as his blade. He jumped up from the table and grabbed an apple slice, heading to his room. "Bang on the door when it's ready, Tessai. I want to try to talk to my zanpakuto."
He would follow his lead until something else came up.END RP "Fetching A Snake"

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 513 "Kids Trapped in the Middle": Sojiro followed his cousin out of the backroom of the shop in a sort of daze. Taking a deep breath of air in, the questions and fears from being in that room with his bleeding mother started ebbing away, leaving him shaky and tired. He pulled his hand free of Evita’s grip and brought it up to his face, pausing at the blood there.
His heart thudded in his ears.
Evita bumped him. “I’m getting ice cream. Maybe it will help to clean up.”
Sojiro nodded, as if half to himself. “Yeah, maybe.” He headed to the sink, sighing as the water started to erase the smears of dried blood. He ran a hand through his hair, wondering, again, where Daichi had gone to.
“Maybe he was supposed to leave after you got your zanpakuto,” Evita called out, as she re-entered with bowls of ice cream, vanilla for him and a mix of three different flavors for her.
Sojiro blinked as some details clicked into place. “Wait, if you’re reading my mind, why are hearing my thoughts about that and not Mom?” He looked down as she put his bowl of ice cream down. “I thought it’s surface thoughts you hear and only if you pay attention. Most of the time it's something else."

Evita’s eyes narrowed at the pointed question that resounded against her head with a few more details. Just as the vice grip on her head had started easing up too. “It’s different with you. I’m not sure why. I haven't heard this much before now, but I’m not even focusing on you and your thoughts won’t stop spilling in!”
“Then how do you stop being in my head?”
What are you feeling from me? Did I hurt you? I don’t want to hurt you like Vale- Seto did.
“I don’t know,” Evita admitted, closing her eyes with a groan. "Look, I don't hear everything. So stop overthinking it all and take a breath. Better yet, put some toppings on your ice cream. It looks boring like that.”
Some of the pain faded as Sojiro focused and chuckled weakly.
“Anything that doesn’t have at least three different flavors is boring to you.”
“Sometimes it just needs chocolate,” she countered, following the wood grain of the floor beneath her feet.
Sojiro rolled his eyes but got up. “Vanilla’s tasty the way it is. Sometimes you don’t have to mess with the classics.”
Evita pressed him. “You sound like Yuzu.”
“And Yuzu’s one of the best cooks around!”
Evita grinned at him as the thoughts quieted again. “So she is.”

Sojiro reached for the blueberry syrup just to go against the faint pressure to pick chocolate. Usually he would choose strawberry, but it was too close to the smears of blood he'd just gotten rid of.
"Your ice cream's going to melt soon," his cousin taunted him from behind him. Although, Sojiro realized, it lacked her usual bite to get a rise out of him.
He shook his head again and walked back to his bowl, pouring the syrup over the vanilla quickly and setting it aside. He leaned towards her. "So tell me what's different."
Evita stabbed her ice cream as she mulled over the calmer curiosity that had overtaken the panicked red mess from before, soothing the ache in her temples. She started her explanation. “Nothing in my head has ever been this sharp before or clear, but I knew something was different when you all returned. Before I left my room, my mind filled with all sorts of vague sensations from the panic and then, before I could reach out, your voice echoed in head like you were shouting next to me, drowning anything else out. Full images and scenes from the backroom crowded in. It happened so quickly that I could barely see straight or make sense of it.” She turned to Sojiro. “When I started trying to do something, the scenes stopped but your voice got louder and louder."
Sojiro winced in spite of himself. That sounded worse than the effects of dealing with time, even for a few moments. “Has it stopped now?”
Evita shrugged again. “Mostly. The headache from that disaster is going away now.”
“Sorry,” Sojiro murmured.
“It’s not your fault,” Evita huffed. “If there’s a connection in your mind, I made it. And…" she looked at her bowl. "At least it let me know some things that had been happening.” She took a large bite of ice cream and gummies.
Sojiro looked into his bowl of melting ice cream and swirled the syrup around the edges. “Did you pass Seto on your way out?”
“No.”
The clink of china on silverware filtered through the room as the two teenagers went on eating their ice cream, but Sojiro couldn't stand the silence for long. “We probably shouldn’t get another serving. I’m sure dinner will be made soon.”
Evita came back with another challenge. “If it’s making you feel better, you can always eat dinner cold.”
Sojiro chuckled as he pushed the bowl away. “I’ll get a stomachache if I eat too much of that, unlike you.”
His cousin shrugged. “Your loss.”
Sojiro glanced to his cousin again, relieved she hadn't retreated to her room again. As she had been the past two weeks. He didn't want to be alone right now, and he didn't want to bother the others. Talking about anything helped. But he couldn't talk about ice cream forever.
Then he recalled another question on his mind. “Hey, Vita, can I ask you something?”
Evita sent him a pointed look. “I don’t remember that stopping you before.”
“Well, it’s kind of personal, but I keep thinking about it.”

Evita raised her eyebrow, eyes glinting with amusement. “And I’m in your head on and off right now. So go ahead.”
Sojiro rubbed at his hair. “Is that going to stop?”
“The connection?”
“Yeah, not that I’m mad or anything.” I don’t want to hurt you…
“I know you’re not, and it probably will.” Evita set her spoon down, eyes narrowing in spite of the mild words in her head. “I don’t control my ability like Vale- Seto does, so I don’t know everything. However, nothing else I have focused on has lasted forever or been this detailed. Maybe it would be gone by now if I didn't avoid you all."
Sojiro nodded slowly, standing and picking up his dish. He couldn't finish it all. He turned on the water and started rinsing it. “Were you trying to stop it? Hearing things in your head? You don’t really have to.”
Evita scooped up more ice cream. “It doesn’t matter. That's not how it works. I've learned that much since then.” She sent him a mild glare. “Now, are you going to ask your question? You’re making me curious now and I’m not picking your head for it right now. Enough hurts.”

“Sorry.” Sojiro set his bowl on the rack. “Why did you write your name differently several times? When we registered for school, it was Evita Aizen, your birth name, but when your classmates gave me a notebook you’d left behind, you’d written several variations on the next page. It flipped to that page when I dropped it at home.”
“Of course it did,” she murmured, playing with the last few bites of her own ice cream. She looked back up at him. “I wondered why you called me that during the attack.”
Sojiro glanced to the side. “I didn’t know you remembered. You didn’t mention it, but that made me all the more curious. The page stuck in my head.” He held up a hand. “Vita Inoue, Sora Aizen, Evita Kurosaki. There were some others but I don’t remember all of them.”
“They weren’t all there for the same purpose. It was a blank page I used during a class demonstration I didn’t need.”
Emboldened by her elaboration, Sojiro went forward. “So why were you doing it? Do you want to change your name?”
His cousin fell silent, swirling the colors at the bottom of her bowl.
Sojiro stepped back. “If it’s too personal, you don’t have to explain.
