"Waking Up": (continued) Juushiro chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I will rest after dinner if I must, though I do believe Shunsui would object to you calling him an old man." He followed Kisuke down the hall to give Yumiko some semblance of privacy.
His eyes narrowed slightly. "You did fix your shop so that no espada can simply sneak in, right?"

Kisuke shrugged cocking his head. "He can object all he wants. He took the Old Man Yama's place so now he is the Old Man." Kisuke chuckled softly. "The best reasoning you'll ever get from me."
They stepped into the dining room as Kisuke walked around Juushiro. "And yes I had Tessai put up a barrier the second he stepped out of the room he placed her in."

"Bonds: From Friendship to Hatred":
Kita walked down the hall back to Gin's room to relieve Juushiro, her head starting to hurt from so much dashing around there. She knew everyone was right, but she also knew it was not going to be easy once Gin was back on his feet and ready to leave. If he was still in the frame of mind about her as he was before, in the beginning. He was not going to leave without her and if he was trying to impress Aizen to take him back he surely would not walk out of here without a fight to take her back.
After all, she was the key to Aizen's plans. The one to get him to where he wanted to be, and no one. Not even Gin could get him there. Only the Goddess herself could do that.
Kita sighed as she reached for the door to enter the room.

Vacanze was walking through the shop in his gigai, coming back from patrolling around the town when he saw Kita approaching the snake's door. The last time he talked to her was back in Las Noches. He rushed up to her, his eyes desperate, worried and relieved all at the same time. He set a hand on her shoulder.

Kita, so into thought, startled to his hand being placed on her and the calling of her name. She quickly spun seeing it was Vacanze, an immediate wave of relief washed over her as she fell into his arms wrapping her arms around his torso.
"Vacanze..." she started to cry as they held one another close.
She had forgotten how being in his arms had helped her feel better when times were bad for her. She did not want to let go. She just wanted everything to go away.

Vacanze's breath rushed from him in a sigh of relief as he held her tightly, pressing his cheek to her hair. "Kita... I missed you so much. I tried so hard for you and yet... I could do nothing for you. Please forgive my uselessness."
He kissed her hair then all over her face, leaning his forehead against hers. "I'm so glad you're back here safely. This place truly is best for you." He cupped her cheeks and smiled at her, shaking his head. "But never mind that. What matters to me most is that you're okay and that I can hold you close again. I just..." He sighed again, shaking his head once more. "I don't know how to express what I'm feeling. All sorts of things have happened for us both." |

"No. You were not worthless. You did what you could that is all we can do."
She rested her head to his chest still holding him close to her. "I have missed you to. I don't even know where to start to fill you in. I am just so glad I get to see you before I am taken away again."
Vacanze gently pushed her back and looked into her eyes. "Over my dead body. I am not letting you go this time. No way in hell!"
Kita shook her head and looked at him. "We can't risk it, Vacanze. If Gin puts up a fight for me to return with him I will go. I don't want more people hurt. Not because of me."

"But your child! Kita, why would you take such a risk with such a delicate, fragile life inside your body? That's ludicrous!" Vacanze guided her over to the table in the living room and they both sat down. "Kita, why would you follow him still when you are to be a mother? Your focus should be your unborn child, not him. And why would he dare take you back when he was doing all he could to get you out, just as I did?"
He took her hands in his, waiting for her reply, even though he already knew he wasn't going to like it. |

Kita lowered her head her hand tightening around his as he held her hand. "Gin...Gin has slipped back into the darkness. He needs me more now than he ever has."
She looked up feeling Vacanze's hand tighten around hers.

Kita pulled her hand from Vacanze's, her head lowering again. "He will come back. Shinsou told me he would. Gin has told me many times he don't want to lose me. He don't want to be without me. He will come back. I know he will." Kita's words were laced with determination her eyes the same as she looked back up at Vacanze.
"The two reasons he will take me back is because I am his property, I belong to him and the other is..." she paused with a heavy sigh, "to get back in with Aizen. He cut all ties with him when I had him slowly crossing over."
Tears started to flow as she shook her head. "This is my fault he fell back into the darkness. I know it is. I know he went to kill Aizen. His rage, fear and worry pulled him back under. All because of me. He is back in that hell because I was a fool and attacked Las Noches. I was going to destroy it all. All them would have died and because of that he panicked. He fought with both Sumi and Kisuke and that drove him over the edge. It pushed him to go after Aizen and end it all."
She drew her hands to her face sobbing. "I was not there to stop him. I could not stop him from taking this plunge back into the darkness. I am such an idiot. Why didn't I stop when he ask me to? Why?"

Vacanze had so many opinions, but he knew that they would only hurt her more. The only thing he could do was pull her close and hold her as she cried. And he did. He held her and rocked her, cooing soothing words to her and stroking her hair.
"It will work out. I know it will. I don't know how, but it will. This will all be over soon. Then you won't have to worry about anything. You'll be able to focus on you and the child." He kissed her face and closed his eyes as he held her against him. "I'm always here for you. Always." |

Kita cried for a few more minutes then gathered herself together. She sat up on Vacanze's lap and kissed his cheek. "Thank you. You have always been so wonderful to me."
She dried her tears then giggled softly. "I guess this is what they call sowing what you reap. I caused this. I am the only one that can fix it."
