Kita returned Yumiko's hug nodding softly, making sure not to spill her hot tea on either of them. "Thank you and I guess I was being naive when I thought it would be over after Aizen's death. I should have known better."
She sighed as the two parted from the hug and Kita cupped the bottom of her tea cup with the other hand as the other held it tightly. "I don't know what to do Yumiko. I was not ready for my parents' deaths. I don't know where to start. Yoruichi was talking to me earlier about some of the things. I almost passed out when she started talking about going through the house to clean it out so I could sell it and all the belonging I do not want to keep."
She looked quickly back up at Yumiko. "And I don't know if I want to sell it or not. I mean--" Kita fell short hanging her head. "I can't live here forever. Me and Sojiro will need a place of our own with or without Gin at our sides."
She shook her head and looked back into her cup. "I just don't know."

Yumiko squeezed her hand again. “Would we ever be ready for our parents to die? Really? If we were close to them? There’s nothing wrong with what you’re feeling, even feeling relief at Aizen’s death. He hurt you badly. His end should have been the end. You did nothing wrong believing that.” She let her hand go and lifted her tea to her lips. Kita followed her example.
Setting the tea down again, Yumiko continued with a soft smile. “As far as selling the house goes, I don’t see why you have to rush in that decision. Let Yoruichi and your friends prepare it and make the decision later. When you are ready to leave the shop.”
She looked down at her cup. “When something is taken away, it takes a while to adjust. It’s the natural order of things. You don't have to be brave and push through it. Take it at your own pace." She chuckled. "At least, someone told me that."

Kita smiled, nodding at Yumiko. "You're right I don't need to rush through this. Just take it day by day and see where it takes me." She looked at the covered tray and changed the subject.
"So what did you make us for dinner?" Kita asked her.

Yumiko chuckled. "I didn't make all of it. I only helped Tessai with the dumplings. He said they were one of your favorite dishes." She uncovered the tray, revealing a large serving for both of fancy fried rice with seafood and veggies, yakitori with sauce, dumplings, and miso soup. She shook her head, amused. "I think he knows that both of us haven't eaten much today," she said, as her stomach grumbled.

Kita giggled softly as she took in the aroma of the food, "mhm, and I am starved. I am surprised Sojiro has not been throwing a fit that he's hungry." She looked to Yumiko and smiled as she watched Yumiko serve them both up a healthy helping of Tessai's cooking.
"From what Isshin said I should be feeling Sojiro move in about two weeks." She took the offered plate from Yumiko. "He said at three months the baby is normally big enough that when they move in the womb the mother feels like she swallowed butterflies." She took a bite from one of the dumplings and smiled as she chewed then swallowed. "I can't wait," and sad looke then entered Kita's eyes.
"I just wish Gin was here to share it with me."

Yumiko’s own smiled fell and she took her friend’s hand again. “You can share the memories with him when he wakes. I know it won’t be the same, but if you do that, he’ll still have a piece of the wonder you want to share with him.” She took a bit of her yakitori and then added. “And perhaps since he has been away, he will cherish his time more when he wakes and see the world through new eyes. Maybe his family will do any healing that is left.”

"True," Kita nodded taking the rest of the half eaten dumpling in her mouth. She fell silent for a few seconds then looked to Yumiko again. "So are you going back to Soul Society or will you be staying here?"
Before Yumiko could reply Kita got an idea and started talking with a new exhilaration. "Maybe you can stay here and you, me and Sojiro can move into my par--" She corrected herself quickly, "my new house?"

Yumiko smiled at her exuberance. “That’s really sweet of you, Kita,” she said, trying to delay dampening her new joy. She set her chopsticks down. “I was going to stay here for a little bit, but I don’t know what I will do after that. I - I want to visit the Ryouma house, if only for a short time. After that, I am not sure.” She looked up and smile again. “If I do decide to stay in Karakura, I will accept your kind offer.”

Kita nodded with a bright smile. "I understand. I know we all have some unfinished business we need to take care of since this war with Aizen is over. Also we have to regroup with facing a new foe."
She reached over patting Yumiko's hand that rested to her leg. "I know right now I am in no rush to do much of anything. So when we are ready at least we have a plan."
Yumiko returned her smile and nodded. The two girls then sat chatting and laughed as they finished their dinner. It was a nice way for them to relax and unwind. Once they had finished Kita helped Yumiko gather their dirty dishes. She was going to go help Yumiko wash up the dishes but she convinced Kita to stay put and rest with what she was going to have to face tomorrow with making arrangements for her parents.
Once Yumiko had left her room, Kita settled down in her bed cuddling up with her blanket. With a full stomach and her mind more at easy with the help of Yumiko she soon drifted off to sleep.

"Blessed Day": (continued) Sure enough everyone was gathered at Kita's bedside. He quickly chased them all out but the girls. Karin following the others not wanting to listen to the screaming, panting and everyone telling Kita to breathe and push. Sliding the door Isshin turned back to the women. "How far apart are they, Yoruichi?" "About five minutes," Yoruichi told him. Isshin took a deep breath, "Good we still have some time." He walked towards them, sitting down next to Kita, and took her hand, patting it. "It's your first. It will take some time." He then chuckled softly, "Unless he is like his father and impatient." Kita nodded at him as another sharp labor pain started. "Breathe, darlin', it helps more then you think." Isshin told her. The group sat in the room, coaching Kita through her labor as the time slowly ticked past. One at a time exiting the room for bathroom breaks, stretching their legs, getting something to eat or just a breath of fresh air. Finally, after three in the morning, Kita's labor picked up more and at three-thirty-five, November 18, Sojiro Ichimaru was welcomed into the world. Handing him to Kita wrapped in a blanket after Yoruichi cleaned him up, Isshin smiled brightly. "You tell that old man of yours I will send him the bill for this. That is if his ass ever wakes up."

Kita looked at the yawning bundle of joy in her arms as she pulled him closer to her, tears pooling in her eyes. "Hello Sojiro. I was hoping your daddy would be here to greet you too, but it looks like it is just you and me." She rested her cheek against his soft little forehead and kissed the tip of his nose.
She then lifted her head letting her free hand brush across the top of his little head, full of sliver hair. She smiled warmly. "Just like your father." She looked to Isshin, her smile growing more. "He is beautiful. Thank you."

Isshin looked to her from finishing up with cleaning her and himself up and smiled, "He is a handsome boy. Almost hard to believe too, since he is Ichimaru's son. But then again--" Isshin gave her a wink.
"His mommy is a knock out."
He finished up, patting her knee, helping her get comfortable. "I am sure you are hungry, but you might want to wait and eat. Get some rest tonight. You worked hard to bring this little guy into the world." Isshin patted Sojiro's head and kissed his forehead gently.

As Kita chuckeld and yawned, still stroking her son's soft head, Yumiko smiled from her chair. She may have labored in pain for hours but she looked radiant. If anything could combat the nightmares of Las Noches, besides the presence of Ichimaru-san, it would be little Sojiro.
Kita gasped suddenly, making everyone jump. "He- he has his eyes, too," she exclaimed softly as Sojiro blinked at her.
Yumiko chuckled as the baby reached for his mother's cheek and walked over to join her friend.

Kita looked quickly to Yumiko then back to Sojiro, then back to her friend. "Do you want to hold him?"
Yumiko's eyes widened in surprise at Kita's question, she then slowly nodded her head. Kita gently and careful handed Sojiro over to Yumiko as she cuddle him closed to her chest like Kita did.
"He's beautiful," Kita spoke softly, her hand gently petting the top of Sojiro's head .

Isshin chuckled softly as he watched the two women with the baby. "A proud parent. Just as it should be." He chuckled a little louder shaking his head. "It makes me wonder how Ichimaru will be with him."
"God forbid and have mercy on little Sojiro if he is anything like you." His own son said as he walked in the room hands in his pockets as he looked from his now over dramatic father to the women and the baby. He smiled warmly at Kita and made his way to her bedside sitting down on the edge of the bed facing her.
"I'm a good father!!" Isshin bellowed, "after all the things I have done for you, Ichi! All the blood, sweat and tears I have given for my children and you think I am a horrible parent?"
