Sipping slowly, Yumiko smiled. "It wouldn't have been as good if you hadn't decided to help me. I was a little clueless with your collection of spices and herbs." Setting her glass down, she took another bite at the meal and sighed in enjoyment.

"I am sure you would have done fine without my help." Aizen smiled warmly at her. His mind then got to turning thinking about the three women and what he said about making a good team. His curiosity got the best of him. He knew how his daughter felt about Yumiko and Kita. But he never asked Yumiko or Kita their feelings on the others. Now was his chance with Yumiko.
"Tell me Yumiko. I am curious. What are your thoughts on Kita and Azayaka?" He took a sip of his wine and looked across the table at her. "Be honest now."

"I have no reason to keep secrets from you."
Yuimko took another sip of wine. "Azayaka has been a wonderful teacher, but she is a bit distant with me. I know something was troubling her a couple weeks ago, but she wouldn't talk about it." She shrugged and played with a pepper on her plate then looked up. "I'd like to get closer to her, if I can. And Kita," she looked down again and chuckled, "I confessed my feelings about her in Ichimaru's room. Her powers do scare me a bit, but she says she has no reason to attack me with them now that my 'green monster' has been exiled."

Aizen chuckled. "She told you that? I guess that was a polite way to put it for Kita. She is a little rough around the edges, but she has a light about her that draws people." His eyes narrowed slightly. "Including Espada." He lifted hid glass again taking a another sip letting his thoughts slip through his lips.
"Her raw honesty, and her trusting and forgiving ways. I use to believe it was the Goddess that made her that way, but with the aeronite crystal--" he drifted off then continued. "I have come to find out that its just Kita. She forgives quickly and trusts even quicker. She believes everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves." He chuckled. "And no matter what her Master does it is never wrong."
He shook himself from his thoughts and looked to Yumiko once more. "Azayaka had a hard childhood. It has made her hard." he reached across the table and took her hand in his. "Give her time. She will warm up to you. You are an amazing woman, Yumiko."

Yumiko blushed with a wide smile at the compliment. "Thank you, Aizen. I hope she does."
Yumiko fell silent, thinking on what he had said about Kita. "Kita does have a way about her that makes it easy to trust her. She also draws others to her. I kept my distance from her until Ichimaru introduced us because she was only a human, but after talking with her, that didn't seem to matter as much."
Her mind turned back to Azayaka. She wondered... "Can you tell me why Azayaka was upset a couple weeks ago or... would it be wrong to ask?" she continued, looking down at their joined hands.

"Azayaka has been having issues with a man in her life. It seems he was won over by another woman and she took him from her. She has been trying to work out her feeling with that." he took a bite of him meal, chewed and swallowed. He picked up his glass holding it in hand as he continued.
"She has also been fretting over the Ichimaru and Kita ordeal. She believes, like I do, that they should be separated, but she also believes that if Ichimaru does wrong, Kita should be punished and vice versa. She believes that punishing them this way will make them stop their disobedience against me or any others. It does make sense. Neither like to see the other hurt in any way."

Yumiko nodded, listening as she continued to eat her meal, cutting the meat into smaller pieces and mixing them with the rice and sauce. She paused when Aizen finished.
"If you need Kita's powers, punishing Ichimaru for any of her misdeeds does make sense. Punishing her could set you further behind. Although," she glanced down at her plate, "some backlash should be expected. You don't handle great powers without getting some burns." She ran a hand up her arm, which was usually covered by gloves.
"Do you think if you give Kita her independence that Ichimaru will regain the edge he's lost?"

Aizen combed his fingers through his hair taking a sip of his wine. "I do not know. I think Kita has gotten into his mind and his black heart so deeply there is no hope for him." Aizen looked across the table at Yumiko.
"I thought maybe he could be reformed after his attempt to kill me a few years ago. I was foolish to believe it was possible."

"He-he tried to kill you?!" Yumiko gasped. "What do you mean? Why?"
She set her fork down and focused on calming herself down. The thought of losing Aizen made her heart seize with a spike of terror. And she thought ... she thought she could trust Ichimaru-san.

"We had a difference in opinion." Aizen took a bite of his meal and looked over to her worry still laced her eyes. "Nothing to worry about, my Queen. Ichimaru is harmless to anyone but myself."
He could not help but chuckle lightly at his last comment to her.

Yumiko nodded, reaching for her own glass of wine. Ichimaru nearly killing Aizen would explain why Azayaka didn't seem to like him very much. She took a larger sip of wine, hoping to use the warmth to calm the wave of fear that had risen in her. "Will he try again?" she couldn't help but ask.

Aizen chuckled his eyes narrowing slightly. "I am hoping. He won't walk away from it this time. I will make sure of it."
An evil smirk crossed his lips. "And it will be by his own pet's hands that his life will end."

Yumiko was silent for a few moments then reached for his hand. "Be careful," she said, eyes down as her hold tightened on him, "I don't belong here without you. If Ichimau succeeded or Kita turned her powers on you, you could lose this gamble."

Aizen tightened his grip on her hand gently but firmly as he looked into Yumiko's eyes. He smiled warmly at her. "I will be fine, my Queen. Ichimaru is not strong enough to kill me, and if Kita does turn on me, I will take her Master with her with my last dying breath."
