"To Walk Away":
"It might be true, but ain't we all at times?" Rangiku replied.
Izuru nodded looking back to Rangiku. "It least you're hanging in there after what happen."
"Mhmm," she nodded, "but I can't help but think if I should do what he told me to do."

"Ugh," Ichigo groaned and let his head fall on the table. "I've been here all of an hour and I'm exhausted already. Can't we just have a calm, quiet party for once? It exhausting enough with all the running around and day saving I end up doing. I just want to go home, go to sleep, wake up and have a normal day for once. At least once a week. Is that too much to ask?"

Rangiku giggled and ruffled Ichigo's hair. "You poor boy. Why don't you find a place and lay down and take a nap."

Looking to Rangiku Izuru offered her the best smile he could on the matter. They were both in the same boat with Ichimaru. What to do? Should they continue on their destructive path of believing in him. Especially after what he did to them both just weeks before. He shook his head looking away from Rangiku. "I don't know, Ran. I really don't. I would love to know and see what Kita sees in him. Maybe this would be easier, but I doubt it. Sometimes I wonder how much she really knows. How much he has lied to her to win her over like he has. If she knew what we knew I doubt she would feel the way she does and for that fact I doubt she would trust him for a second."
He looked back to her and smiled warmly. "He will never change. I am sorry to say. He proved that to me that day he attacked and almost killed us both. I am afraid I have washed my hands with him, for good, and if I ever see Kita again I will do my damnest to get her away from him." He sighed, "or she will be where we are right now. Wondering. Always wondering and nursing a broken heart and feelings. And that is if she is lucky. The way she is with him right now." He sighed. "I see her losing her life because of him before the other happens." Hearing Ichigo complain and what Rangiku told him Izuru smiled cheerfully rubbing the back of his neck. "The Commander does it all the time. Don't see why you couldn't."

"If I'm going to take a nap, I'd rather nap in my own bed at home," Ichigo rolled his eyes and lifted his head, pouring himself some more punch. He looked over at Ikkaku and Renji who were still going at it. Their end of the table was a disaster area. "Come on, guys. Give it a rest. Call it a tie."

Rangiku went into her own little world after Izuru's enlightening speech to her. He was right. They both have been through so much because of Ichimaru, but her heart was one thing and her mind another. One knew the truth, the cold bitter truth. The other knew the man he use to be. She sighed.
"Use to be."
The words slipped from her lips below a whisper. But like Izuru said. Kita. What about her? She was not awake for when Kita and Ichimaru came back, but she heard. She heard enough to make her wonder what it was about Kita and Ichimaru that the two were so drawn to one another.
Kita was taken by the Espada Loki. Ripped away from her family and friends, and someway, somehow, ended up in Ichimaru's care. Now. From what she had heard the two were inseparable. Kita cared for Ichimaru there was no denying that. Maybe even loved, but what Rangiku couldn't shake was the thought and feeling, wondering if she could have done what Kita has done for Ichimaru. Could she have done what Kita did? Could she give up everything she ever knew for the man she loved? Kita walked away from everything. Her friends, her family, Tsukiro. For a man she barely knew. All because she believed in him. Because she trusted him. Was that all it took? To believe and trust in him? She sighed again her hand balling to a fist as she rested her chin to her closed hand.
Her eyes slowly closed her mind drifting back to that day... The day Ichimaru was branded a traitor along with Sousuke. A tear trickling down her cheek.
"I did not follow him then and my feeling for him were much stronger. But then he admitted why he did it, after the fact. What is his reason now for being there?" She thought to herself, another sigh slipping through her lips as she opened her eyes and sat up in her chair.
"Who am I fooling? I didn't follow him then. I wouldn't follow him now either. I can't walk that path with him. Not now. Not ever. My life is here in the Gotei. Not walking in the shadows and the darkness." She sighed and downed her saucer of sake. "And it seems he can't live in the light with me. Its time to move on. I am tired of all the broken hearts, the unspoken words. I am tired of licking my wounds because of a man that will never change."
She closed her eyes again with another heavy sigh and spoke softly into the the wind. "Take care of him Kita. You seem to be the only one who can."

"Ball Mischief":
Juushiro tossed up sparks to call the happy chaos to some order. He chuckled as the crowd around Madarame and Abarai looked up, but the two in the middle ignored everything but the platters before them. It’s a good thing he ordered two of those platters as Sentaro requested in just such a case. Kurosaki's all but fled from his side of the table. He old captain smiled at the group gathered. “Before the afternoon becomes evening and we set off the fireworks, there is one more game prepared which should interest everyone here. And yet before I set you all loose, I want to say a few words as the coordinator for the event and in the place of the commander who seems to have fallen asleep again.” A couple people chuckled. “I’m glad so many came out today for our little holiday. Sousuke Aizen’s return has been hard on all of us, yet the fact that we were able to come together like this, joke, laugh, even challenge each other to friendly sparring matches, shows that we are not yet beaten. Remember who your friends are and why you fight, and with faith – and hope – you won’t be broken and he will fall. Good luck to all of us.”
He scratched the back of his head as the group applauded and then reached behind him into a crate for a medium-sized ball. It wiggled in his hands and sent out sparks of multiple colors. “This ball is of my creation. It will jump, roll at various speeds, and zap you with various little Kido spells if you try to catch it. Some of the spells can get messy. To win, hold it for a total of five minutes and it will turn white. Those that join in will have the chance of winning a trip to the human world for a week without any paperwork attached on your return and a free pass to any restaurant in Rukongai .” He chuckled at the uproar that arose and raised his voice. “This includes the winner and one other person of his or her choosing. You may use anything to help you as long as it doesn’t go too far. Captain Hitsugaya, Kuchiki, myself and the other captains in uniform will be watching and disqualifying. Good luck.” He tossed the ball high and then watched as it vanished.
"First, it must be found," he offered with an apologetic smile. "It is somewhere in the area set aside for the holiday."

Kenpachi raised the bottle of sake to his lips as the chaos milled around him. “Too much trouble…” he murmured, staying right where he was. His bells jingled as Yachiru jumped onto his shoulders. “Ne, ne, Ken-nii, Shiro-kun said anywhere in Rukongai, right?”
Kenpachi tilted his head. “Yeah… so what?”
She giggled and swung her legs. “That means I can get ALL the sorbet I want for one day, or” she leaned down and whispered in his ear, “you can get all the sake and I can get ALL the toffee from that corner store with the funny man.”
Kenpachi’s eye rolled to his little companion. “You mean you want to play this game?”
She nodded. “Mhmm, I do.”
Kenpachi grinned widely and slammed his bottle of sake down before rising up, swinging his sword behind his shoulder. “What were the rules again?”
“Find it! Find it!” Yachiru squealed.
“Find it…” the scarred captain repeated, tilted his head this way and that.
His bells jingled and he let his sword fall off his shoulder. “Find it… HERE!” he hollered, slicing a table in half. The ball rolled out.
Yachiru clapped. “Yay! Ken-nii found the ball.” She pulled on his hair. “Now catch it.”
Kenpachi swung his sword back. “You heard her. Time to die.”
The ball steamed then burst forward, disappearing underneath more tables. Kenpachi laughed and tore after it. “A challenge at last! You can’t run away!” “Get the ball, get the ball!” Yachiru called out. “It went that way."
People scattered as the giant man hurled through them and tables, Lieutenant Yachiru pointing ahead.

Yumichika adjusted his kimono as a horde rushed by. "Such a violent sport." He blinked as Zaraki hurled past him with Yachiru on his back. "Captain... Lieutenant...." He blanched. "If the Lieutenant wins, she will have so much sugar no one will be able to control her. She'll pull my hair, dye my clothes, no, she'll find the ink and paint over them. And that's - only the beginning of the horror she will unleash on us." He stood up, pushing his hair back, a dangerous light in his eyes. "There is no way I can let her win this game."
"Oi, Ikkaku, this concerns you too." He whirled around and spun back around, pale. "Never mind. He's hopeless and I refuse to be assisted by someone so dirty." Shaking himself, he rolled up his sleeves and alighted upon a pole of one of the tents. "This calls for drastic measures."

Rangiku shook herself from her thoughts and stood from her chair. She pushed up her sleeves and looked to Yumichika. "I'll team up with Yumichika." She smiled brightly at him walking toward him.
"What do you say?"

Rangiku giggled softly and let her eyes search the area. Seeing Yachiru and Kenpachi take off one way as the ball went another. "With their sense of direction this should be easy."
She grabbed Yumichika's hand.
"This way!" She took off as he followed beside her

Juushiro chuckled from the sidelines as Captain Zaraki started running over people and throwing tables out of his way. "Maybe I'll assign his division clean up," he stated as Shunsui joined him.
The commander chuckled as the ball sent off the first offensive strike shooting lightning outwards in all directions. "I doubt he realizes he has a uniform on."
Nanao pushed up her glasses. "It won't be caught by such a ruffian."
Juushiro laughed lightly as the ball kicked off and landed on a roof. "Though if I had known he was going to join in, I might have confined it to the ground," he noted aloud.

Rangiku spotted the ball as it appeared on the roof. She motioned at Yumichika and they both took to the roof for it. Once up there Rangiku went to grab for the ball as it loomed off another direction causing her fall face first on the roof.
"Hurry!" Yumichika called darting off after it.
Rangiku groaned and picked herself up. "Stupid ball..." she grumbled dusting herself then quickly following Yumichika.

Shinji snickered as the ball landed on the roof of a nearby building. "I am not in uniform, so," he pushed off the charging figure of Kenpachi to launch himself into the air. "Vacation is on!" he called, drawing his zanpakuto as he neared the stable ball. He smirked. "So easy."
Suddenly a spout opened up in the ball and just as the Shinji and four others leapt up to grab it, a purple fluid shot from its spout, spraying all five of them.
Shinji slipped and fell onto the ground and made to rise but found himself stuck to the ground. The liquid solidified. "Too easy," he growled and changed into a vizard, breaking free.
