"Overdue Down Time":Isane walked in the hall looking around for the ones that would be arriving at the party Rangiku had so kindly put together for them. It had been some time since all the ladies had been brought together like this, and still they all would not be able to attend the party. Isane was glad to hear that at least Rukia was going to be attending. She needed some down time as did Momo, but Momo was nothing like Rukia. Both handled things in a very different manner. Though it did not matter to Isane how they handled it as long at it was handled and in a civil way so not to bring harm to them or others.
Looking toward a noise, Isane watched as Rangiku walked from the kitchen, her arms full of a punch bowl filled with a bright orange punch.
"Do you need some help?" Isane asked walking quickly toward her.

Rangiku smiled at Isane as she took one side of the punch bowl. "Thanks. It's awkward filled with punch."
Isane nodded as the two women carried it over to the table together. "First one here?"
"Seems like. Who all is coming?" Isane asked her.
"I am not really sure. I know a few that are coming but not everyone RSV'ed or they were unsure." Rangiku told her.

Nanao and Rukia entered together. Rukia was dressed in a cream kimono with dark violet lining and obi with stitched golden dragonflies, her hands folded before her, and Nanao was wearing a dark blue kimono with a magenta obi, stitched with drifting flower petals. “Hello, girls, I am glad you brought the punch.” She brushed her hair back, trying to ignore how Rangiku was staring at her. Probably because her hair was down. Or because she was without her glasses. It had nothing to do with obi she’d found. She set down the pasta salad she had made for the gathering.

"Why thank you Nanao." Rangiku told her as she watched Nanao place her dish to the table with the other food Rangiku had lined out of them all to snack on. She looked over to Rukia and smiled warmly.
"I am glad to see you here Rukia, but don't push yourself too hard. If your feeling the need to leave then you go right ahead. No one will mind. We all understand."
She then wiped her hands to her uniform looking down on it. "I guess I should go change now since I am done and everyone is starting to arrive." Rangiku stepped lively to the back of the hall. "I will be right back~ Don't have too much fun without me."
She smiled with a wave and disappeared.

Rukia bowed her head quickly. “I will do my best to stay around long enough to enjoy this event, but I’m relieved that my weakness will be understood if I have to leave.” She raised her head and smiled quietly. “I know I have been too introverted since the espada’s attack, and I want to change that. I don’t want to worry everyone.” She lowered her head. “Not anymore….”

Isane gently placed her hand to Rukia's shoulder as Rukia looked up at her. "It's not a weakness and you are never a bother, Rukia." Isane then turned and looked to Nanao with a wide smile as she looked to her obi and then back to her.
"That is... a very lovely obi, Ise." Isane claimed.
"More like VERY pink." Rangiku replied with a wide grin as she entered the room with a navy blue kimono and a pale blue obi. She rested her hands to Nanao's shoulders and lead her to a chair making her sit as she leaned down with her hands on her hips and looked in Nanao's eyes. a bright wide smile crossed her lips.
"Are you trying to tell us something without telling us? And if you are you need to spill it."
Nanao blushed as Isane chuckled, moving Rangiku from Nanao's face. "Knock it off Ran. You're embarrassing her. I am sure she will tell us when she is ready to talk about it."

Nanao blush deepened and she ran a hand through her let down, long hair. “Thank you, Rangiku, Kotetsu,” she murmured, going to push up her glasses before remembering that she had left them behind today. Her fading blush returned. “Nothing has happened…. yet,” she continued. She tried to say something else, but Rangiku drowned her out with a squeal.

"Ehh~~? What's this~?" Yoruichi snuck up behind Nanao and pulled at the tail of her obi gently. "Nana-chan wearing pink? What has this world come to?" She placed her hand on Nanao's forehead. "You feeling okay?"
Yoruichi wore a blood orange kimono with deep maroon colored maple leaf patterns all over the sleeved and bottom. Around her shoulders was a russet colored haori. Her obi was a dark violet, matching her hair with golden tassel ropes holding it in place. She held her classic mischievous smile and winked at Nanao.
"Is there something you want to tell us? Maybe about a certain someone?"

Kita walked in with Yumiko at her side as the two looked on at Yoruichi and Rangiku trying to con Nanao out of her secret. "Why are you two interrogating her? You know, there is such a thing as privacy. Some things are just not for our ears."
She sat the cheesecake she made to the table with the rest of the food and turned to look at the women now looking at her.
"Did you raid Ayase's closet for that kimono, Kita?" Rangiku asked her with a wide grin.
Kita smoothed the front of her turquoise kimono as she looked down at it. It had clusters of sequined back and white roses on the upper right and over the shoulder. The obi a dark purple with a ripple pattern and black tassels.
"No," Kita mummered as she looked back up to Rangiku, "but he was the one that picked it out for me when he and I went shopping. Why?"
Rangiku chuckled, waving a hand, "it looks like you belong at his side other than Ichimaru's. Are you sure he is not trying to tell you something?"
Kita rolled her eyes at Rangiku. "Ayase would never insinuate something like that. He is a gentlemen and has always been so when he and I are together. Unlike some people I know."

Naomi and Captain Mustu walked in, Naomi carrying a tray of cookies and Captain Mustu a flask of sake. Naomi was wearing a lavender kimono with white apple blossoms scattered randomly across it, a white obi, her hair pulled up and pinned in the back leaving a long ponytail. Nori in sea green kimono a pale coral obi. Her hair was down but pulled to one side and draped over her left shoulder.
Both women smiled at the conversation that was going on in the room. "Did you start the party without us?" Nori asked as she set the flask of sake next to the others.
"I hope not. I have been looking forward to this party all day and Kai was sweet enough to help me out so I could get my work done sooner." Naomi added.

"Of course not!" Yoruichi beamed. "Just a bit of gossip. Unless that's included in the party? But that's not important. What's much more important..."
She walked up to the two women and ran her fingers over the sleeves of their lavish kimonos. "Is how amazing you two look. These kimonos are beautiful. Where did you get them?"

As the girls started talking in earnest with Yoruichi in the center, Yumiko set her cookies down and folded her arms before her, listening quietly and not wanting to interrupt.
She had been in Soul Society for nearly two weeks now, the longest she had been since the end of the war. With her conflicting memories returning, the shadow of her heritage in the background, and dealing with the wounds from Las Noches, it had been easier to stay at the shop, near Kita and Orihime. And Kisuke was just as easy to talk to as Ukitake if Kita was sleeping or busy with little Soji. Yumiko truly thought the risk to stay away from the Ryouma clan had helped.
Even now, with the women talking around her, she didn’t feel too overwhelmed or anxious to leave. She smiled quietly. It had been right to come with Kita. Maybe she would thank Captain Mutsu for her help that time in the underground.

Nanao escaped the knot of gossip before the subject could return to her choice of colors today, not that she was unhappy that it was noticed, but she couldn't share much yet. She was still taking it slowly, and it seemed Shunsui was willing to do the same. She smiled shyly and tucked her long bangs back behind her right ear, before pouring herself a small drink of liquid courage. She couldn't say much, but - she grinned - that didn't mean she couldn't torment her friends. It was only right after all the decades of them asking about her captain and making her even more flustered than she already was in his presence.
Pouring two cups of punch, she checked on Rukia, who was eating some of the salad and listening to Yoruichi's wild stories with a slight smile. Good. She walked over and handed her a glass of punch.

Rukia chuckled out an outrageous comment by Rangiku and accepted the cup Nanao handed to her. She hadn't noticed she had forgotten a drink.
"Are you doing alright?" the lieutenant asked.
Rukia nodded. "So far, I am alright." Her smile brightened. "I think it helps that it is all women here, and Yoruichi-san will smack any male who 'accidentally' wanders in."
And it feels warm in here. It doesn't feel chilly in here, something that I haven't felt for a while except at my captain's side or Nii-san's.
Nanao chuckled. "Let's hope she isn't too destructive to the unfortunate soul. Isane might take offense at more work this time." She set a hand on her shoulder. "Remember what I said. I will be your escort home when you're ready."
Rukia nodded again. "I think I will be alright. Thank you, Lieutenant Ise."
Nanao shook her head. "Neither of us are lieutenants tonight. Just Ise, Rukia."
Rukia nodded and looked down at her lap. "It's been a while," she said with her smile. "I had forgotten how nice it felt when we gather like this. Even if some are crazier than others."

Nanao chuckled again. "Just give it time. Rangiku promised something daring later tonight. She said it has to stand up to Yoruichi's setups, so it should be something extraordinary."
Rukia giggled. "I think it's safer here then."
Nanao nodded. "I agree." She nodded to her and moved on, stopping next to Yumiko.
The young noble seemed to be more comfortable with herself but was staying in her own little bubble of space. It seemed like she needed a friendly nudge. Nanao walked over with another cup of punch. "Welcome to the group, Yumiko. How are you, tonight? Did you enjoy your visit at the Ryouma house earlier this week?"
