Kita looked at Kadaj and smiled brightly as he yawned wide, his little eyes closed and nose wrinkled up until he settled in nuzzling into her chest and fell asleep soundly. Kita looked slowly to Vale. "I want to show him off. Would you allow me to take him to see Kisuke and the others? Without being followed?"
Vale shook his head, as he looked away from Kita. "They'll try to keep you there with them. You won't come back...They won't let you."
Kita shook her head. "No they won't. Vale, they know what will happen if they do that. They are not trying to make things worse. They want this to end as quickly as the rest of us." She grabbed his hand as he went to push up off the bed to get up. "Go with me out of good faith. For one day. Leave all the fighting behind, all the hatred and bloodshed. All the ill feelings and thoughts." She paused and looked to Kadaj then back to Vale. "For your son and me. Please."

Vale nodded slowly, sighing as he hung his head. Good faith... "I will go with you. But, if I am attacked, or if any attempt to separate the two of us happens, I will..." Vale looked to the teary eyed Kita.
Sighing again, Vale pulled his hand from hers and rose from the bed. "Pick your day. And, we will go."

Kita smiled brightly wiping away the tears. "Thank you and you will see. They won't do anything. At least the ones I call my family won't. Even Gin will be civil." She thought for a second letting her eyes lower from Vale. Quickly turning as he walked around the bed Kita looked to him again. "Will the day after you return from the Soul Society but alright? Kadaj will be a little older and more apt to be being held by others."
Vale nodded. "Whatever works for you, Kita."
Her smile grew wider as she cupped Kadaj's little head and kissed it tenderly. "It works great," she looked to Vale again, "and you can do your thing in Soul Society with a day to rest before we go see the others." She looked to Kadaj then Vale as she lifted from the bed and walked toward him. She lifted her hand letting it slid to the back of his neck and pulled Vale into a joyfully kiss. "Thank you, love."

Vale smiled as Kita kissed Kadaj. "You're going to meet your grandpa." Her voice was filled with a happiness Vale hadn't heard since his time as a human.Watching as Kita rocked Kadaj in her arms, Vale smiled. "Why don't we bring Kenji and Sojiro along? I'm sure they would appreciate seeing family, as well." Kita nearly squealed at the suggestion. Vale chuckled. "I'll take that as a yes, then." Kita rocked their child in her arms, excitement filling her voice. Vale went back to the bed, pulling a pillow over his head. He groaned into the pillow as Kita continued to carry on. Good faith...

"Reaching Out": Yumiko sat on the bed after taking a short hot shower. She was still kind of wrinkly. But it was better than pacing waiting for Vale to return... with or without Kita and the kids. Yumiko sighed, pushing her hair behind her ear and wrapped Vale's jacket around herself tighter. The lingering warmth of Vale's loving still permeated her heart and body, but the niggling voices of guilt were there, too. Yes, she was happy. But she should have stopped Vale. Not because she was having doubts but because she worried over Sousuke's retaliation to this betrayal. Her happiness shouldn't be at the expense of more suffering for Kita. And she would much rather be back at the point where she was driving herself to hysteria and hurting others before either of the boys got hurt. Please, let this turn out well, she pleaded inwardly.

Vale walked into the bedroom, bracing himself against the wall. His eyes burned and his hands bled from clenching them too tightly. "Yumiko..." He called out to her, his voice hoarse. "Yumiko..."
"I'm here," Yumiko responded, rushing over and embracing him. "I'm right here."
Vale collapsed in her arms, covering his face with his hands. "I thought it would be different...But, she just wanted him."
"Vale, I don't understand."
"Kita...She didn't care that she was taking my son from me. She just wanted Gin...."

Yumiko lowered them both to the ground, re-situating his jacket to cushion his head on her bare lap. “Vale…” she whispered, stroking his head. “Take a breath, my love. I am not going anywhere. So breathe and explain. Please.”
Vale groaned and shifted position wrapping one arm around the small of her back and the other seizing her hand in a vice-like grip before doing just that. Speaking in broken sentences about Aizen’s move, Sumi’s retaliation, and Kita’s confession. “She just wants Gin,” Vale muttered. “Just him. She didn’t care about my family.”
Yumiko sighed and leaned down to kiss her lover’s cheek. “Vale, that’s not what she is doing. She wants to protect her family. She wants to protect Kadaj. And Kita would NEVER separate you from him.”
Vale looked up at her. “You say that now, but when Gin….” His eye started to glow ominously.
Yumiko shook her head and kissed his eye, holding him close. “You’re letting your fear and the despair you’ve clung to for so long lead your heart, Vale. Gin was separated from his son for eight years. Even if you dislike each other, I don’t think he would do it. And Kita would never allow it. She’s in this situation because she will do anything to protect her family. And as strange as that seems, you are a part of that now.”
Yumiko kissed him gently. “Even if it was a child not conceived in love, you gave Kita hope with that child. She would never deprive you of him. Of that same gift."
She pulled back slightly. “I fear another might. If he could. That's why Kita ran."

"He has already told me that Kadaj is his property because I made Kita his Queen." Vale shook his head. "I don't blame Sumi for taking Kita and the boys. But, she seems to think I want nothing to do with Kita. That I just want to take Kadaj and be done with it."
Looking to Yumiko, Vale pulled his eyes patch off. "I care for Kita, I do. And, while I don't want her to take Kadaj from me, I could never take him from her. And, I won't. But, everyone thinks the worst of me. Kadaj is my first child, Yumiko."
Yumiko wiped away Vale's tear as she brushed his hair from his face.
"I just want my son..."

Yumiko scooted closer and hugged him tightly. “I’m sorry, Vale. I’m sorry. Maybe I should have swam away instead of speaking as much as I needed. If I hadn’t revealed so much, you would have kept your distance, and you would still…”
She sighed again. “I can’t change what has happened, but I will try to make it up to you.” The noble took his hand from where it had settled on her thigh. “Between Kita and I, we will prove that you do care.” She held his hand tightly in hers. “Even if it is special cases.” Vale huffed a breath. “Kadaj made you happy from day one. Anyone who saw you two - or heard you praise him - knows that. We’ll show it to the others.”
She paused. “Just don’t give up hope because Sou- Aizen took him because you took me.” She kissed his hand. "Trust that this," she raised his hand to her to lips kissing the back of it tenderly, "means that there is hope."

Vale sat up and placed a gentle kiss to Yumiko's cheek. "You have most of my heart, love. The rest is with that little boy."
Yumiko nodded. "I know."
"Even if Kita does not want to take my son from me...Even if Aizen is just throwing a damn tantrum...Sumi, I think, will try. She's got something against me..."

“Well, you did have Alister tear her apart a while ago and took a part in separating her favorite family unit. It may take more time for her to trust you. And she may not. Sumi is a goddess. She's different than us and one of Kita's guides. One. Focus on Kita. Everyone can be wrong, love."
"Sumi will never trust me. She's a spiteful bitch. She just...won't."
"And you don't need her to - if that is the case."
"But my son..."
"Shut up, Vale," Yumiko whispered, kissing him. "Believe it will work out."

Vale returned Yumiko's kiss, smiling as he pulled away from her slightly. "I'll try...But, there's so much going on..."
"Vale?" Yumiko's tone was a questioning one. "What's happening to you?"
"What do you mean?" he questioned, springiing to his feet as he held out his hands. He sighed, turning to look at Yumiko. "Stay in this room. If he comes in here, you run to the bedroom and break the grey stone on the night stand. It'll send you to the --"

Vale had faded from the room, mere seconds before the god of fire appeared. "Fear not, Ryouma. He is with Miyamoto, Ichimaru and Urahara. This visit will be short.""Why is he with them?" she asked, shifting on the couch. "To find a solution toward the same goal. However, there is something greater than all of us, that can change it all."Yumiko shook her head, placing her hands in her lap. "I don't understand." "The Soul King. Our last visit with him came with a warning - Any interference of this magnitude would result in both of us being striped from Miyamoto and Tervaden. The goddess seems to believe that she is exempt from the laws the govern the gods. But, what she fails to realize is that Sousuke Aizen isn't the greatest evil. And, other vessels belonging to other seraphs have been through much worse.""So...By trying to protect them, she's placed them in more danger." The god nodded. "What do we do?" "What can we do?"

"Dawning Days": (Continued) Vale rose slowly, pulling his arm from beneath Yumiko's sleeping form. He kissed her cheek before pulling the blanket over her, as he stood from the bed. He got dressed, as quietly as he could, trying not to wake her. Securing Chinmoku at his side, Vale looked to the zanpakuto resting against the table by the door. Not Yumiko's, no. It was Shinsou, the blade of Gin Ichimaru. The man had been missing for the last three weeks. And, despite even having the Ayakashi search for him, nothing was found except his zanpakuto. Vale sighed. "Fuck you, Teruo." whispered Vale. "Where are you?" Fade

"Matters of Emotion": (continued) Walking into their bedroom, Yumiko reached into the drawer of the table nearby and pulled out a long chain hidden in the back. Opening the locket at the end and staring at the winter photo. and then pulling a slim ring off. The ring he'd given her after their first dark night. His apology. She slid it on her finger and kissed the amythest ring.... So when Vale did return to the bedroom, he would find a cluster of small pink roses on top of the pillows, the amethyst ring, and a letter. Dear Vale,
I still want to support you somehow. I don't want you to carry this burden all by yourself. That's why I left your promise ring. I will wear another in hopes we can be together after Gin is found. Keep it on you or hide it under your pillow. I will leave the choice to you. And hopefully, when this over I can tell you 'I love you' without doubt or anxiety in my eyes. Then you can give it back. I belong to you.
Always yours,
Yumiko
