“I’m afraid it’s not your decision, Vacanze,” the commander stated quietly. “Sousuke Aizen is Soul Society’s problem and creation. He is a soul reaper. And it is the Gotei’s place to put him down. Today, there is more at stake than there has been before and Fate has given us an opening."
“That is why you have to go!” Vacanze growled.
“No, that is why we have to stay. The Soul Society and the Gotei were broken by the attack a year ago. Returning now will only mean more hiding. Running and waiting. Slowly sapping people’s hopes. If there is to be a rebirth - if they are to believe in our protection again - then we must attack here. There is nothing to maintain without a solid foundation. Sousuke and Tervaden broke that. A victory will be key to rebuilding that.”
"But if you die, they lose even more."
"That is why most have left. There are others to carry on - if Sousuke were to kill us." He paused. "Do you understand, Vacanze? I thank you for coming back for us, but there is no rescue for us until the score has been settled."
