"Wings of an Angel" Continued: Ichigo sat at on a kitchenette bar stool with a lemonade after taking a long walk. He rubbed at his hair. Three days only and he was already letting the worry for Kita, Soji, and Kadaj get to him. Kisuke could probably keep Kita from doing something stupid, but the old shopkeeper couldn't be around all the time. And Soji wasn't always watching either. The poor kid had to rest sometime. "Come on, old Fox, you need to snap out of it." He took a longer swig of his juice. "If only so some people can beat you for being gone so long."

Kita stepped up to the door of Ichigo and Evita's new place. Lifting her she took a deep breath, closed her eyes said a quick prayer and knocked as her eyes opened again.
Her hands came to in front of her as she linked them together and waited for someone to answer the door.
"It's unlocked," Ichigo called out. "Come on in, Kita."
Kita walked in looking around. It was the first time he had been there since they moved in she felt bad that she had not stop by sooner, but things had been crazy and busy. Not to mention her mind just had not been in a visting mood most of the time.
She looked to Ichigo and smiled brightly, "Hello Ichi. I need your help."

Ichigo returned the smile. “As long as it’s not more painting, I’ll do it. I’m kind of tired from having to worry about all the different shades and right layers.” Kita giggled and he chuckled with her. Then, he hugged her. “It’s really good to see you laughing a bit, Kita. You had me worried. What can I do to help?”

Kita took his hand and lead him over to the couch in the main room. Sitting down she tugged him to follow. The look on Ichigo's face went from smiling to worrisome. She smiled brightly to calm him and patted his leg when he sat down.
"It's not bad news or something dangerous I want you to do." She giggled softly, "and I surely don't need you to paint anything."
“That’s good,” Ichigo murmured. “But, you know,” he looked away and rubbed the back of his neck, “you got me worried making me sit down and looking at me like that. So spill the beans?"
"I was wanting to know..." She paused and took a deep breath. "I know your Soul Reaper power are really crazy strong, but what about your Quincy side?" Ichigo looked at her a little confused as she went quiet again. Not sure what she was getting at herself.
She adjusted herself on the couch a slight bounce as she did so. she felt really strange doing this. "Ok, ok. I am going to get to the point here." Her hands came up as they slightly moved forward and she took another deep breath.
"Do Quincy's have away to know where another Quincy might be or even if their still alive? I mean I know Soul Reapers have this Spirit Ribbon thing. I was just wondering if Quincy's have anything like that." She was really nervous her hands shaking slightly. She knew she sounded like an idiot and probably even more so to Ichigo.

Ichigo chuckled, vaguely confused but definitely amused by her rambling. It had been too long since she had talked to him like a regular person. Even if they were older, it felt kind of nice that she was doing that. Like a breath of fresh air. Even more so with Gin in the situation he was in. But what was the meaning of her question?
A face with glasses popped into his mind, and he sighed, scratching at his head.
"Look, if you’re asking if I know where Uryu is, or something like that, I’m sure he’s alive. But…. I’ve barely had a glimpse of him since the end of the war. And if Dad's seen his partner in crime, he's not telling. Some things really don’t chan-”
He paused as something clicked in his mind.
“Wait, are you trying to contact Uryu’s girlfriend, the angel?” He sat up straighter on the couch. “Do you think she could help the Fox?”

Kita's heart lept as she nodded quickly grabbing Ichigo's hand, "Yes. Raelin Fang. Remember. She helped Gin out right after he killed Aizen. She helped him forgive himself, cleansed his sins. If Sada had planted any darkness in his mind or heart I think she could cleanse him again."
She paused and looked at him. Hoping his next reply to her would be he knew where she was or where she could find her.

Ichigo smiled at her. “I’m afraid that even if there was a way to find her I think she was pretty good at hiding herself before the war. At least that’s the impression I got from Uryu the ONE time he spoke to me before the war and he joined with Methuselah.”
Kita’s smile slipped, but she clenched her hands in her lap. “But you’re still optimistic?” she pressed.
Ichigo grinned, eyes dancing. “I am because your need gives me the excuse I’ve been waiting for to get a certain secret from my sister.” He rose and offered his hand to her. “Yuzu’s been getting better with fighting in the last couple months and I can tell that it’s not just V-man. It's her form. And it’s not me since my skills in that area are kind of instinctual and different from the usual. And I know Uryu well enough to figure it out if it was him.”
He crossed his arms behind his head. “I was just about to beat it out of V-man, too. You saved him~"

Kita's head dropped as she giggled aloud for a few seconds then burst into tears. Her hands quickly covered her face as she stood and turned away from Ichigo. "I have to save him, Ichigo. I have to find Raelin. I have to. I owe him so much. If it were not for him I would not be here today."
She sobbed a little more as she felt Ichigo's steady hand to her shoulder. He gripped it firmly but gently.

Ichigo pulled her into his arms when she wouldn’t stop crying. “Hey now, don’t fall apart now, Kita. You have to keep fighting. Besides, I won’t stop looking now that you’ve given me something I can do. I’m a Quincy and your friend. If Rae’s not around, you and I will find her. Now take a breath. Should I get you some ice cream?”

With Ichigo asking her if she wanted ice cream, Kita could not help but giggled softly as she buried her face in his shirt. Her head shook lightly. "I have not had breakfast yet. I think Sojiro might get a little upset with me if that's what I ate."
Ichigo moved back slightly from the embrace and looked at her. "Then you need to eat." He looked into her eyes. "How long has it been since you have eaten? And don't you dare say since the last time we had dinner together. That was four days ago."
Kita shook her head. "Are you kidding. I have Kisuke, Tessai, Yoruichi and not to mention BOTH of my boys making sure I eat. But..." she looked away. "I did not eat dinner last night. So I am a little hungry."

Ichigo nodded. “Then it’s a good thing that it’s Tuesday,” he stated, pulling her up and grabbing his keys. “Yuzu’s at the bakery and can give us some discounts."
"She stopped being a nurse?"
"Nope, she was covering for a friend last month and got hooked. She goes there when it's not too busy and cooks up a storm. The owners like the help. It's really more of a hobby actually." Ichigo grinned. "I guess she hasn't told you yet, so this will be fun. There'll be plenty of good food for you and she'll be distracted."
He cupped a hand over his mouth. "EVE, I’M GOING TO YUZU'S AND LOCKING THE DOOR!”
A couple moments later the door opened, and Evita poked her head out, headphones on her neck. "You ate the last peanut butter cookie, remember."
"I know. I'll get another batch. Anything else?"
Vita looked down and then turned, raising her headphones. "Cinnamon rolls. And milk." Her door closed.
Kita giggled. "You spoil her rotten, you know that, right?"
Ichigo rubbed the back of his head. "Isn't that what I'm supposed to do?" He looked up the flight of stairs. "Besides, I don't know if she'll be left alone forever." He grinned again. "Let's go. Maybe we'll beat Yuzu's flaming knight in shining armor."
Kita laughed as Ichigo tugged her towards the door. "You're being mean, you know, baiting your innocent sister like this."
"What are siblings for?"

Kita blinked at Ichigo's question. "I-I don't know what they're for." She sighed, "I wish I did. Kenji is the only person I have ever really looked at like a sibling, but there are so many years between us and with what Aizen did..." she paused sighing softly. "I think he blames me for all this." They walked from the house as she turned and looked at Ichigo as he locked the door.
"We have not spoken in many years." She nodded slowly, "you're very lucky to have them and the three of you still remained very close." Her head lowered as she halfheartedly chuckled. "If I really sat down and thought about it. Aizen has fucked up my life as badly as he has everyone else's."

Calling himself a dozen different kinds of idiots, Ichigo reached over and rubbed Kita’s head. “You’re really selling yourself short, Kita. You know what a sibling is for. You went through hell for your kid brother. Even when people told you not to. Part of the reason your Fox got to rip Aizen’s heart out was because he had to stop you from doing exactly what a sibling is supposed to do. Protect her little brother.” He flicked her on the forehead. “That’s the important thing.”
“Also don’t beat yourself up about Kenji. He’s an Urahara. I bet you he’s not mad at you or anyone for that matter. He just took the opportunity to up and vanish like his old man did. His secret place just isn’t beside you as Kisuke’s is. So just remember to tease him when you see him. Call him a recluse or say how surprised you are that he hasn’t turned into a wrinkly old hermit and you’ll get your chance to play more like siblings. Age doesn't really matter with those things - unless he's turning into Byakuya."

Blinking a few times, not sure what Ichigo was getting at with the part about Byakuya she shook her head. "Not sure what that is supposed to mean, but I understand the rest." She turned and looked out at the car.
She looked back over her shoulder at him. "So where is this bakery at?"Ichigo stepped past her walking to the car as he turned slightly to talk as he walked. "You know where the Tea Shop is, right?" "Mhm," Kita hummed as she followed him. As she stepped up the car Ichigo opened the car door for her. "Its across the street from it." Ichigo told her as she slipped into the car and he closed the door. Then quickly made his way around to the drivers side to get in himself. Once he was in a seated, Kita looked his way. "Thank you, Ichi." he was about to say something as she shook her head. "Don't say it. Just accept it. You have done so much and it means the world to me. More than you will know."
She reached over and patted his leg gently when her stomach growled, her other hand going to it as they both looked at her hungry midsection. The two chuckled softly as they looked at one another once more.
"Time to get food." Ichigo nodded as she started the car backing it out of the driveway.

"A Couple Days After the River": Evita groaned as the light hit her eyes and rolled over, eyes scrunching shut as her body grumbled with her. Her legs felt like there were weights and chains attached to the full length of them and her arms felt like pounded rubber. Though that was nothing to the headache throbbing against her temples. Evita rolled again, wrapping her pillow around herself in an effort to block the spots dancing before her, stabbing at the sensitive points in her eyes and through them, her mind.
Ughhh. It really was the only way to describe the way she felt.
What happened to make her body rebel like this?
She knew it wasn’t food poisoning. She’d seen that enough with her mother when she tried something too old. And someone wasn’t around to stop her. But what was it?
Then again, she really didn’t care. She just wanted that damn headache to go away.
