"Learn from a possible enemy than expect them to support you in battle?" Kouen pondered. "I am not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying the Gotei is an enemy to you or are you making reference to your experience with Aizen?"
"Either way. We learn from our enemies. Much more than most would like to admit. If we didn't our experience level would never excel and there would be more enemies then allies."

Yumiko halted and looked down. “I mean that there are still many people who don’t trust me to be at their back - that I am either still bewitched by the darkness or that I will betray them if Aizen wills it. But as a teacher, they can still benefit from the skill of my zanpakuto.” She played with the tassels of her obi. "So be it."
"Hm," Kouen hummed. "It is hard to regain trust by the masses once that line is crossed." He looked to her and smiled. "And love is the main source of betrayal in humans and souls alike. No man nor woman can resist the calling of their heart. It will make enemies faster than any emotion in existence."
Yumiko was silent for a long time. "I have regretted ever opening my heart again, but then someone told me to learn to love freely again." She sighed. "Yes, love will make enemies. But it saved me." She looked up again. "No matter the pain or error in others' eyes, that's the truth." She set a hand on her zanpakuto. "I'll weather the consequences of what it asked of me."

Kouen nodded. "Then I apologize now. I find you a very nice and an intriguing woman, but if orders come across, I will not hesitate to follow them without prejudice." He looked to Yumiko with a bright smile. "But we can be friends until then, right?" He chuckled lightly. Yumiko nodded in turn. "If that is what you wish," she replied. Kouen nodded as they continued on their way to the tea shop his mother always visited. "It only business, Lady Ryouma. Nothing more." He saw her look his way from the corner of his eyes. Her look of confusion, but she knew he was serious in his statement. After all, it was what his family did, hunt down the traitors within the noble ranks and do away with them if ordered to.Moved

"Mid-morning R & R": It was only a couple of hours after classes started as Makino hobbled through the courtyard of the Seireitei. It was a beautiful day as the sun hung in the morning sky. Today was the day, it would only be a couple more hours before Kin would be coming to get her to take her home, back to the manor. She still had not see Sojiro. Marking the third day thus far since his reiatsu disappeared then reappeared hours later on the same day, and only an hour or so before his mothers. She had heard, even his father had returned. Makino was happy for Sojiro, especially after that horrible scene of his father dissolving in front of them. He needed his family.
Hobbling over to a grassy area, under a large cherry blossom tree, Makino took a seat in the soft grass as she rested her crutch on the ground next to her. She leaned back against the tree and relaxed. It had been sometime since she was able to relax like this. In the quiet of a courtyard with only the birds and the rustling of the leaves as a soft breeze blew through. Almost three years, she was shocked at the thought, but the thought was true. Since her father's death and her joining the Academy, her life has changed by leaps and bounds. Some good and some not so good. She had changed as well, which was typical with growth in ones life so they change to adapt. She had made many friends and even acquired a boyfriend. Sojiro Ichimaru.
She smiled warmly at the thought of him, but sad within the same thought that she had not seen him in a few days. Why was he staying away? Was there something wrong? She shook her head slowly. No that is not the case. If that were so someone would have told her, and she knew he was not in the medical ward. She could feel his reiatsu, but it was too far off and it kept moving from place to place. He had not even came by to see his father since she had heard he was there. She rested her head back to the trunk of the tree as a squad of Soul Reapers marched past. She guessed they were off to do drills or maybe even patrol. She did not get to see which squad they were from, but it did not matter. It was a squad from the Gotei. That's all that mattered.
She smiled again, in a few more months that would be her. Hopefully in Division Five. Though with the way Captain Hirako treated her, she was not to sure that was going to be the case. She sighed as she let her eyes drift upward into the tree branches, the sun dancing on the leaves as it peeked through the gaps of the nestled leaves and branches. Why did he hate her so bad and why did he give her that stupid nickname? Parrot? Really? If he was trying to insult her zanpakuto he was way off in trying to do so, and if he was trying to insult her. He really needed to try harder.
She sighed again as her eyes slowly closed. She guessed she need to start thinking about another division to join since the Captain of the Fifth did not like her, but which one? Which division would best fit her zanpakuto powers and her skills in Kido? Merged

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 431 "One of These Things is Not Like the Other": It was a Saturday, close to dinner and what one might call 'the perfect time to paint', if you were an artist that was, but Mitsuo Hayashi nor his friend Rin Matsumoto were artists. However, they were looking for mutual friends they believed might be in the park--the noble quarters' park of all places. A place neither of them belonged, and it was not hard to tell why with the way they dressed and carried themselves. Rin though, might have passed as one of the noble group with his way of dressing, but today was not one of those days. The two had just completed a vigorous round of training in hand-to-hand combat, and they were a little rough-looking.
That didn't stop them though, they wanted to talk to their friends. It had been a while since they hung out, it was not like them to stay apart for so long. The group had pretty much grown up together. Some since they were really young, some came in later when they were a little older, and some when they were nearly teens, and they were all pretty much brought together by one woman, Reika Hitoshi, or as they know her. Sensei Hitoshi. She was their tutor.
Makino and Sensei Hitoshi’s son, Jiro Hitoshi, was the youngest. Knowing one another when they started their first day of school at age 5. Then Haku "Katsumi" Yamamoto came into the scene three years later when he was 8. It was only a few years later he, and Rin Matsumoto at the young age of 11 and 12 joined their class. Then Shin Maki and Sugita Iho popped in at the age of 14. Since day one they all hang out whenever they get the chance, and when the next enrollment for the academy comes around, they’re all enrolling together.
Strolling through the park they headed straight to the lake, which was normally where Makino’s mother set up to paint. Lady Saya was a very talented artist and was known for her hand-painted Kimonos. Though the park was not where she painted the kimonos, it was where she got her inspiration. Topping a small hill Mitsuo saw Makino, who was training with a Bo staff, and Jiro lounging under the wisteria tree. Mitsuo and Rin picked up their pace.
“You are such a lazy ass, Jiro,” Mitsuo taunted Jiro as they walked up to their two friends.

Rin chuckled as he lightly tapped Jiro with his foot as they walked past Jiro and took a seat under the tree with him. "Is there a day that girl is not training?"
Jiro shook his head, "nope. Everyday at some point she is training."
"Why aren't you training with her?" Rin questioned as he watched Makino dance around with her Bo staff. Rin saw Jiro look down at his side then look back at the tree. Jiro's attention then went pointedly to him.
"Do you see another weapon around here?" Jiro shook his head. "And if you fools think I am sparing with her without a weapon--when she has one--you both have hit your heads one too many times."
Rin and Mitsuo chuckled at him.
"Hey Makino!" Rin called out to her. "Come. Sit. Visit. It's been a dog's age since we last hung out."

Makino stopped training, hearing a familiar voice calling from over where Jiro was lounging. When she turned she saw none other then Mitsuo and Rin. She smiled brightly swinging the Bo staff over her shoulder letting it rest there.
"By the Gods. Where have you two been hiding out?" She walked toward them. "And how did you know we would be here?"
Mitsuo grinned, "Your mother paints in the late afternoons on Saturdays and mornings on Sundays. It's been that way for as long as I have known you."
"Yeah, what he said," Rin added as he pointed at Mitsuo.
Makino giggled and took a seat next to Jiro, grabbing her canteen of water. "You two look a little worse for wear. You guys been training as well?"

"Them? Train?" Jiro folded his arms behind his head. "They're as lazy as I am if not worse."
"Dammit, Mits!" Jiro exclaimed sitting up quickly as he rubbed his leg. "That flipping hurt!"
"Lazy and a panzy," Mitsuo grinned. "You don't toughen up in the next year, your going to be labeled Ume no hana of the academy."
"Whatever! I will have you know I work out with Maki-chan and her brothers at the Tori Dojo all the time. So bite me!"
Makino only nodded her head. "So what brings you guys out?"
"They wanted to be a pain in my ass." Jiro growled as he lounged back again, arms folded under his head.

"We were just out training and thought we would come by and see you guys," Mitsuo informed Makino. "Like Rin said, it's been a dog's age."
Makino's head bobbed. "It has been a while," She paused in thought. "In reality, we have no idea how long it's been. Since that odd," Makino's hands lifted as she made quoting gestures with her fingers, "'reset' as the Commander called it."
"Yeah, that was messed up. One minute we are fearing for our lives and fighting a rebellion and the next we are home sucking down tea in a peaceful environment."
Makino shook her head as she looked at the grass under her. "It was indeed odd. Sometimes I wonder if this is an illusion that will come crashing down around us."
Mitsuo only nodded looking out across the park when he saw none other than Haku "Katsumi" Yamamoto running toward them. "Here comes the spaz of the group."
Everyone looked in the direction Mitsuo was looking seeing Haku as well as he bounded toward them.

Haku raced towards his long time friends, his head still bandaged but his hair and skin otherwise washed and restored to perfection. Instead of the dusty training outfit--which Sasakibe had forced him to return home and change out of when he ran into Haku and Ichigo on their way to the academy--he wore a navy blue yukata with a white obi and white cranes on the sleeves and bottom. His hair flowed down his back, the breeze picking it up as he ran.
"Hey, long time no see everyone," Haku smiled warmly at them. "I was surprised to see all of you when I was walking past. What's the occasion?"

"Out enjoying the day and taking advantage of it," Mitsuo stated, "what're you out doing and what the hell did the golden child do to his head?"
Haku rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his sleeves, not bothering to be proper since Sasakibe was nowhere to be found. "You realize Kibe-jisan doesn't have me locked away like a princess, right? I'm allowed to go places." A huge grin broke out across his face, he pointed to his head with one hand. "And if you MUST know, I got thrown through a wall while trying to teach Kido to Ichigo Kurosaki!"
Mitsuo looked dumbfounded at Haku, then got a disbelieving look on his face. "Right," Mitsuo crossed his arms over his chest and looked pointedly at Haku, "and I am the bastard son of Commander Shunsui Kyoraku."

A vein popped in Haku's forehead and he unfolded his arms, clenching his fists and hunching his shoulders as he growled at Mitsuo. "And why the hell would I lie about a stupid thing like that!? He almost killed me! Using Hado 1!" He raised his hand, extending his index finger at Mitsuo. "HADO. ONE! He threw me through a freaking wall using SHO of all things! Why would I lie about something as embarrassing as that?!!" He gritted his teeth in irritation.
"Why in the hell would he?!" Mitsuo looked on at Haku wide-eyed and a look that said 'huh?' "He's the damn Substitute. He's as strong as the Commander if not stronger. What does he need Kido for?"
"I don't know!" Haku threw his hands up in the air. "I guess he got some sort of existential crisis about being a 'substitute' and now he wants to be an actual Soul Reaper. He wants to get stronger and thinks learning Kido is what he needs to do to achieve that." He lowered his hands, holding them out in front him. "He even asked Kyo-jisan to let him take classes at the academy! I took him to get enrolled for next year! He's gonna be our classmate!"

"I'm calling it," Rin chuckled as he looked at the others sitting with him. "Bullshit..."
"Come on guys. Stop picking on Haku. I don't think he would lie to us over this." She looked at Haku and smiled, "but it does seem odd that someone as strong as the Substitute wants to go to the academy. He's famous. He won't get a moments peace."
Haku rested his arm around Makino's shoulders with a smile. "See! Maki-chan believes me!" He gave a shrug. "Like I said. He's having some sort of negative thoughts about being just a 'substitute.'" He grinned at Rin and Mitsuo. "But if you two don't believe me, then I bet you that on day one Ichigo Kurosaki will walk into the Shino Academy wearing OUR uniforms." He pointed at himself with his thumb, giving a smirk. "AND he'll greet me like an equal! The prize is the loser buy the winner lunch every day for a week! And I don't think I have to remind you both that I have expensive taste~"
Rin looked at Mitsuo and nodded sternly. Then both of them looked at Haku. "Deal! One week, and don't forget I have a refined palate, so feeding me won't be cheap either." He extended his hand as he and Haku shook to seal the deal.

Mitsuo offered his hand next, "I'll take that bet and I don't give a shit what you feed me, as long as it's good." The group laughed as Haku and Mitsuo shook hands.
"You two idiots are going to regret this and Haku-chan is going to get fat eating two lunches a day," Jiro commented.
Haku smiled and looked at Makino, "I'll just give some to Maki-chan, since she is the only one who believes me."
"Hey?! I never said I did not believe you. What about lunch for me?" Jiro complained.
Makino and Haku laughed at him.
Mitsuo looked at Jiro with narrowed eyes, "You never said you believe him either."
Jiro returned his friend's look, "Hush! Nobody asks you."
The group laughed again as Mitsuo shook his head. "Baka."

Haku shook his head and smiled at his friends' antics. He looked between the four of them. "So, are we finding something to do or are we just going to kick rocks in the park all evening?"
"I was kinda enjoying the relaxation after the workout me and Rin just went through." he looked around at his group of friends. "Unless one of you has an idea and wants to go hang out."
"Well," Makino looked over at her mother who was still painting, "I can't go anywhere until after I help get my mother back home."
"It's not like we have not went out running around after dark. Were not 12 any more." Rin commented.
"I'm all for it." Jiro looked over at Rin and Mitsuo, "and it will give you two time to go get cleaned up."
"Well, if we're looking for something to do after dark," Haku gave a wide smile. He looked over his shoulder to make sure Makino's mother wasn't paying them any mind. He whispered to the group. "There's a festival going on in Junrinan this evening. Out by the lake. We could head out the west gate and go there, then be back before midnight."
