" A Stroll": (continued) As they walked up to the gate she heard Sojiro softly explain where they were. "We are at the West Gate mom, just a short walk to First Division. I know Jidanbo so he should not question us too badly, but if he does, you need to play mute. I will think of something to tell him. Just stay silent."Kita nodded just as they heard the guard, Jidanbo, bellow out to them causing the three stop. Kita looking to Sojiro from under her hood. She reached out and took Kadaj from Sojiro's back as Sojiro stood and looked to the guard. "It's only me, Jidanbo. I am here to see Kisuke. We can pass right?"Jidanbo stepped closer to them as littlest one looked up almost wrenching his neck to look up at him. "You tall." Kadaj blurted out with a giggle.Sojiro looked to his little brother as Jidanbo spoke again. His large hand gently touching the boy now standing in front of Sojiro. "Who is this little tike?" Sojiro combed his fingers through his silver hair. "My little brother. Kadaj.""He is a cute one." Jidanbo chuckled. "Thanks, we think so too." Sojiro shared a chuckle with him."And the woman?" "She is safe. Kisuke hired her to watch Kadaj the times he got busy." Sojiro let his hand hide his mouth and he whispered to Jidanbo. "She's a mute. She lost her tongue in the takeover. She was lucky it was not her head. From what I heard she got mouthy with one of the Hollows." Jidanbo nodded slowly rubbing his chin and looked to the woman once more with a slight pause. "Alright. You can pass." He turned his large body and stepped away from them. "Tell your Grandfather I said hello. Sojiro inwardly sighed with relief giving a half smirk. "Will do, Jidanbo and thanks." He turned and grabbed his mothers hand along with Kadaj's and the pasted through the gate quickly. He turned and looked at his mother when he heard her giggle. "I got more then mouthy with a few Hollow in the takeover." She whispered."Hush. You're supposed to be mute." Sojiro whispered back at her. After a few minutes, she heard him chuckle, she gently but firmly squeezed the hand she was holding. "I don't know if I should be proud of you for pulling that lie off or upset. You get to be more like your father every passing day."

Sojiro frowned slightly. "I always knew that being like him could be a double-edged blade, but earlier today, I experienced that for myself. I lashed out at my friends when I first heard the news. They were worried and I... said things I wasn't proud of to try and get them away. I'm lucky they forgave me and let me talk about some things."
Kita squeezed his hand again. "If they are true friends they understand. They will forgive quickly and still love you." She sighed. "Something I could never get your Father or Vale to understand." She looked to her oldest son and smiled at her next thought. "But Vale. He has really changed. He wants to invite everyone to the wedding." Sojiro stopped so abruptly she ran right into the back of him.
"We- wedding?!" he whispered. "How- I mean what about Dad? All those years..." His voice faded and he started walking again. "Are you happy?"

Kita sighed as she was jerked forward by her son as he started walking again, causing her scarf to fall down over her shoulders. "You're not pleased are you?" She asked him trying to pull her hand from his so to fix her scarf. her other hand already trying to get it back over her head.
"Sojiro, please." She called to him. he finally released her hand and she lifted the scarf back over her head and stepped up beside her first born and stopped him. "Please, talk to me Sojiro. I am sorry I dropped that on you like that, but I need to know if you are going to be happy with this." She sighed casting her eyes down. "I am sorry. I do love your father. I do, but..."
"But what mom! Are you just going to walk away from him without a fight!" Sojiro bellowed.
Kita looked up at him her eyes slightly narrowed. "I fought for your father for twenty years. Eight of them I waited diligently at his side for him to wake from a coma. Three more for him to finally come home and when Vale finally found him, he's in another damn coma. In twenty years he has never once ask me to marry. Not once. I have never talked to him about it. I never brought it up. I did not want him to feel forced or trapped. I wanted him to do this on his own so he knew when he was ready."
A tear rolled down her cheek as she looked away from Sojiro once more. "I can't wait another eight years or another twenty before he finally realizes what he has." She looked back up to Sojiro. "I love Vale and he loves me. We are happy and he ask me to marry him last night and I told him yes."

Sojiro looked in front of him again, his eyes narrowing as he wrestled with what had been spoken. The desire to keep her happy versus the wish for her to at least wait for his father to wake. The need to discuss this with his uncle... that was no longer there. Kadaj tugged on his sleeve and frowned at him, staring at him with the bright eyes they shared. He sighed and brushed at her tears.
"I want you to be happy, Mom, but I don't want you to rush because you have been so lonely and scared that you would lose either of them. You barely.... chose to leave with Vale over waiting for my father. In front of everyone. I know that he can be good to you... like father was to you... but you both just ran from your former lives. Are you sure you're ready to ...marry him? You won't regret it...?"

Kita cupped Sojiro's cheek. "We love one another, we are happy." She smiled warmly at him. "But for you. I will go see your father one last time before Vale and I get married." Her head shook.
"I won't wait until he wakes." She giggled softly. "Only the Gods know when that might be and I am not getting any younger." Her thumb rubbed his cheek lightly. "Will that set you at ease at least?"

Her eldest son nodded, though he still felt conflicted. Some of the best moments of his life were how his parents stuck together...even in Las Noches. One day...he would ask what set off that fight....and brought Vale in. But not now. He managed a smile and turned to walk onwards.
"I'll be at the wedding," he murmured.
Now ... it just seemed like another piece of his childhood slipping away... He didn't want to think on it further.

Kita reached out and took Sojiro's hand and pulled him into a tight hug. "Please don't be sad. My love for you will never change and Vale is not trying to keep me away from your father, and he is not trying to take his place and take you away from him. He knows of my love for him and he knows you love your father very much. I am not going to shun your father or stay away from him. We were friends from the very start of our affair. I don't think that will ever change between us."
She parted from the embrace and looked into his eyes. "Will you go with me to see your father?"

Sojiro nodded again, kissing her cheek and bending over to blow a raspberry on Kadaj's, making both his mother and brother giggle. He gave a slight smile. "Come on. We can't linger. Someone may recognize you." He turned around. He had a lot on his mind... and he didn't know which was taking more energy.

Izuru jumped from one rooftop to another, keeping his hand placed on Wabisuke, "Come out you, bastard..." His head turned sharply as he jumped again, he caught movement. The second his foot hit the roof of the other building, he shot towards the movement and instantly appeared behind the trio.
"Why do you have them out in the open?" He asked quietly his eyes pin pointed on Sojiro. Stepping toward the three, he stopped next to Kita when they stopped walking themselves. "You know it’s not safe. Too many are still blaming her for what happen."

The three had stopped, turned and looking at Izuru as Sojiro set his hand on his zanpakuto. Kita placing her hand to the forearm of his sword arm. Her head shook slowly at her son.
"Should you really be out on your own?" He asked.
Izuru crossed his arms. "That's my question. You know what happened. Not only is it not safe to have them out where they can be seen by the others. What would you do if he came for her, or the little one?" His hand then rested to the top of Kadaj’s head.
"And I am not prey he can take on by himself. Daichi won't allow it," Sojiro retorted, standing to his full height. "Mom had to see Kisuke. I wasn't about to let her go on her own. Especially with what has happened."
"Sojiro. This is Izuru, stop please." Her son stood down as Izuru stepped closer to them.

Izuru sighed, "You could have left them where they were and came and got Kisuke, Sojiro. It would have been safer that way.” He stepped up past them looking Kita’s way. “Keep the scarf over your head. The last thing we need right now is someone attacking you."
He watched as her head nodded slowly and she pulled the scarf around her face better. “Come on.” He told them. “I will assist in getting you there. I am on patrol anyway.”

“Thank you Izuru,” he nodded and the two fell silent for a few seconds. “I guess they have everyone on high alert after what happen?” Kita asked as she stepped up beside Izuru.
Izuru did not look her way as they walked. “Yes, and they are keeping what happen to the Commander hush hush. They don’t want a panic to spread.”
Kita nodded as she looked to the ground. “I can understand that. So why didn’t Captain Kuchiki step up instead of Kisuke? He would be the next in line for this would he not?”

Izuru looked over to Kita his words softly spoken so none other then Kita could hear him. “It’s more complicated than that. The Soul King is involved in this. It’s not like in the human realm where the people choose. Since Central 46 was shut down by the Commander there is no one to assign to the empty position.” Izuru looked ahead of them once more.
“Captain Kuchiki apparently trust Kisuke enough to bring him in to fill that position until the Soul King makes his choice. I am sure Captain Kuchiki is assisting, not to mention, once Ise is back on her feet she will be there to assist as well.”

Kita nodded slowly, "I am sure Nanao is a wreck right now.”
Izuru nodded. "Emotionally and physically he attacked her as well. She was lucky she was not killed." He looked over at Kita. “But I am sure she wish she was since she lost--” He stopped abruptly. “Well you know how that goes.”
Kita nodded again not wanting to speak of it out loud. She was sure Nanao was more than heartbroken at this time. She just hoped it was not so bad she would lose her will to live on for them both. She sighed heavily. "I know things will work out for all of you. The Soul Society is very resilient."

Izuru sighed slightly, "Yes, we will. But this is going to take a long time to get over. Two of the pillars of the Gotei 13 were taken from us. Some may never recover."
He smiled the best he could as he looked at Kita. “We just have to make sure no one else is taken from us. We have to stop this maniac. Somehow, someway; he has to be stopped.”
