"Don't worry, Kouen-san. Money has never been a problem for me, and it probably won't be for the rest of my life. I can't say I fully regret where the money came from. But I'm sure you know that my family doesn't steal from honest people. I don't plan on stealing from anyone anymore. But if you don't want me paying for you, I understand. Still, I couldn't suggest such a high end restaurant then expect you to pay. That would be rude."

Kouen grinned. "I know of your family and I have no issues with them or you. Though I will tell you there has been a few of those families your family had robbed that wanted us to do away with your clan."
Riku stopped in his tracks looking to Makino then her two brothers. He looked back to Makino quickly as the two boys walked out to get another load. "Is that true?!" Riku ask keeping his voice low and as steady as he could.
Makino nodded slowly as Kouen walked back in with another load. He was laughing at the look on Riku's face. "Don't sweat it, Riku-kun. We know the worthless from the priceless when it comes to this type of thing. Father refused. It caused a big mess, but in time it was their clan we were going after."

Hearing that his family and even Riku himself could have been easily destroyed by Makino's family was extremely sobering. His knees gave out on him and he had to lower himself down onto the edge of the cart. Makino's family was asked to assassinate his own family. That included him. But they said no. They said no because his family were honorable thieves. Thieves that only stole from other thieves and those who didn't deserve their wealth. All this time, Riku thought that his family's "honorable thief" ways fell on deaf ears. He thought that no one cared who they stole from, only that they were thieves, plain and simple. And yet, the Masanobu clan proved that their actions were seen as justified to others besides them.
"I... I don't know... what to say... To think that I could very well not be sitting here right now.... To think that I'm sitting here right now because your father spared us." He looked up at the two boys and Makino. "I think it's safe to say that me and my entire family are indebted to you and your family. I owe all of you my life. There's no doubt in my mind that if your father decided to accept, he would have followed through and destroyed all of us without fail."

"OH get up!" Kouen spouted as he dropped his load and walked over to Riku pulling him off the crate. He tossed his arm over the boys shoulder grinning madly. "But you're right. If we would have been sent after you, you would not be here right now. Eh," Kouen flicked a careless hand forward as he looked to Shirou and his baby sister.
"That's neither here nor there. Like I told the Noble Ryouma. There is nothing we don't know about the people here in the Seireitei. From the scum that crawls in the shadows to the man himself that sits above us all. If it is note worthy we know about it. We only go for the ones that deserve our wraith. At one point in time the old man Yamamoto wanted us to go for Sousuke Aizen. Father told the old man he was a few nuts shy of a nut tree." He chuckled as he let his arm slide from the boys shoulders. "I am sure you can imagine how well that went down."

"That would have been a damn suicide mission for sure. None of us would have come out of that alive," Shirou nodded. He waved it off a moment later, though. "But enough about that. Let's not dwell on the past. Riku, we would love to accompany you and Maki-chan to lunch. If you are okay with paying for us, then you are welcome to. Though I can't vouch for Kouen or Maki. Knowing them, they will throw custom to the wind and pay for themselves anyway."

"Hey!" Makino retorted with her hands on her hips. "I will have you know I have let Riku buy me lunch a few times."
"Really now?" Shirou replied looking at her questionably. "Where you short on lunch money in the cantina and did he know you were a Masanobu at the time?"
Makino tossed the wadded papers she had in her hand at him. "Hush, no body ask you."
The boys laughed as Makino shook her head. "I don't mind if he pays. I just don't feel like it is right for him to foot the whole bill." She looked to Riku. "We can at least get the tip, right?"

Riku giggled and nodded. "Of course. If you really want to, you can cover the tip. But I'm paying for the actual meals! After all it was my idea to meet for lunch."Makino nodded,= with a bright smile, "Deal!" They got back to work unloading the wagon. Soon it was completely empty, all but Riku and Makino's things they had gotten from the manor. "You want us to take you to the Academy gates?" Kouen asked them. "Only if it's not to much trouble," Riku bowed deeply to Kouen and Shirou. "Thank you so much for your help!" "Don't mention it." Kouen told him as he watched Riku jump up into the back of the wagon. He then lifted Makino up as Riku took her hand and helped her steady herself. The two sat down as Kouen climbed up into his spot and nodded to Shirou. he flicked the reins and they were off to the gates of the Academy. Once at the Academy gates, the Masanobu brothers dropped them off, said their farewells and steered the horses and the cart around to head back to the manor. Makino and Riku walked through the Academy to the dorms, parting for the day to head to their own rooms. Sojiro was apparently in his room with the door closed. He wasn’t sure what was up, but he figured he’d find out sooner or later. He headed to his own room and plopped down on the bed after setting his things down. It had been a long, eventful and pleasant day. -- END RP -- "The Immortal Fox":
