Chinmoku lay silently inside the container. He listened to the scientist as he went on. He remembered Captain Kurotsuchi Mayuri from the days when Vale was captain of the Seventh Division. An odd soul, but an honest one. Vale should have contacted him by now. But, this was not the first time they have been separated. This one, the most strenuous. Vale had pushed himself too far. And, as a result, he forced himself and Chinmoku apart.
"Let's make this easy, shall we." sniped Mayuri. "I know you can hear me. So, why don't you speak. Unless you are as unintelligent as your wielder, hm?" Chinmoku began to swirl inside the container, as if there was a gentle breeze blowing inside. The mass slowly gathered in the form of a small winged boy. Mayuri looked over his shoulder at Chinmoku's form bearing a grin. "Ah yes. See. Now that wasn't hard, was it?"
Chinmoku small form sat in the center of the container, legs crossed and its wings wrapped around him. He remained silent.

Mayuri walked over to the cylinder, leaning down to eye level with Chinmoku he tapped on the glass. "What's the matter little one? Afraid you have been abandoned?" Mayuri laughed and stood erect once more.
"If your Master knew what was good for him he would abandon you." He looked nonchalantly over his shoulder and waved his hand in a carefree manor. "Because he will never get you back as long as I have you trapped."
He saw Chinmoku part his wings slightly and peek out at him. Mayuri turned quickly as if he was not looking at him. "Tisk tisk, its such a pity that a powerful zanpakuto spirit has to live this way. But don't worry... I promise to keep things interesting for you." He spun quickly and looked at Chinmoku with his eyes yellow eyes and a crazy wide grin crossed his lips.

Chinmoku rose and and shunpo'd in a fury, slamming into the walls of the container. "He has NOT abandoned me!" His dual colored eyes beaming beneath his long flowing black hair. He resting his forehead against the glass, staring at Mayuri. "I know his heart as I know my own. He has not abandoned me."

Mayuri laughed at Chinmoku. "Would you like to try that again, and maybe again? Though I have to tell you..." Mayuri paused and tapped his index finger to his cheek as he looked up and off into the nothingness above them. "Yes. I guess I should tell you this." His head then slowly lowered, his eyes slowly looking back at Chinmoku.
"You will knock yourself senseless before you break out of there."

Chinmoku stayed as he was. "I am not trying to break out." He slammed a fist into the wall of the container. "He will come for me, Hellman's Mayonnaise. Do not doubt him. You forget, he was a captain. He is far from weak."
"I never said he was weak." replied Mayuri. "I said he was clueless."
Chinmoku dropped his hands to his sides. "You know he has not abandoned me. You are counting on his coming to free me." He lifted his head. "You only set a trap when you want to catch something."

Mayuri's eyes narrowed at the mockery of his name. His hand came down hard on a button on the console panel as a blast of air ripped through the cylinder cutting Chinmoku in half. Every time he would try to reform the blast of air would rip through him again and again. Chinmoku finally able to form one arm, reached up letting his hand slap against the glass. Slowly it slid down the glass as Mayuri watched the young child wither into submission. The blast then ripping through the formed arm.
"Had enough Chinmoku?" Mayuri asked him the air still swirling around in the cylinder with fragments of him caught within it.

Chinmoku cried out in pain from his broken form. But, the screams were not his own. Vale. "You're hurting him!" He whipped and spiraled through the container, slamming into its walls. He tried to reform again and again - Each attempt resulting in a twisted vision of a boy in pain. "You're hurting him! Chinmoku!"

Mayuri laughed maliciously as he watched the form of Chinmoku disintegrate and fall to a pile of fragments once more. "So weak in this form. Just as I figured. Without all your fragments you're no better than a broken katana. I should sweep you up in a dustpan and dispose of you like the trash you are."
He released the button turning his back on Chinmoku. "But then again, what fun would there be in that?"

Chinmoku reformed slowly. He lay on the floor, his wings splayed beneath him and his eyes closed. He lay there until he was able to take form again. He raised his hand as fragments fell from it. "You think you have me beat, don't you, Mayuri?" He rested his hand on his chest. "He is coming."

"Good let him come. I would like to have a few words with the man that treats his zanpakuto so badly." He looked over his shoulder at Chinmoku, "but until he does come, make yourself at home because I doubt it will be anytime soon."
Mayuri went back to what he was doing paying no mind to Chinmoku once more.

Chinmoku sat up quickly. His eyes focused on Mayuri, then his form disintegrated into a mass of black fragments at the bottom of the container.

Mayuri rubbed his chin as he gave Chinmoku a side glance from across the room. "Yes, let him come. Let. Him. Come." He turned from the cylinder and stepped back up to his console. "I would like to talk to this man."

"The Pain of Separation (continued)":
Koga opened the gargunta above the roof of the Twelfth Division. Yumiko stepped out supporting Vale as they stepped onto the roof. Koga reached out as he walked behind them, his hand gracing her shoulder. "You are his mirror. A fury of precision, elegance and rage. Quite beautiful." He pointed to a small metal vent on the roof. "There."

"That small piece of shit?! Are you kidding me?" shouted Vale. "I need to get Chinmoku. Not on the fucking roof. Not near him. There! I need to get to him!" Koga shook his head.
"I will defend you, Vale Tervaden. As will she." said Koga, looking to Yumiko. "You will be as much an enemy of the Soul Society as we are, after this day, Yumiko Ryouma. This was the choice you made, when you made this matter personal."
"What the fuck about that tiny ass vent, Koga?!"
"Squeeze your fat ass down there, Tervaden!" snapped Koga, before straightening himself. "Here they come."

Yumiko didn't respond, face a pale mask of determination. She pushed Koga’s words to the back of her mind and turned to fight, drawing Mizue no Kagami. She would worry about the consequences later. The question of if she had a home here anymore. Right now, she didn’t see any other option. Her blade rippled at her quiet command and she called forth a fiery burst of power from the kido of Soren Soukatsui, twisting into the form of a giant bird.
A tear slid down unnoticed as she waited for Koga’s signal to release her first attack.
