Kairo didn’t have an answer but was saved having to find one when a Hell Butterfly flew in through the open window. Kairo let it alight on his finger. “I don’t know what his weakness is but at least no one tries to tackle him alone after his first wave.” He looked to his captain. “The commander wants a full report on all projects he’s given us and the status of our men. All divisions are going to high alert...." He'd scarcely finished that sentence before the the alarm started to echo all around the division, followed by the echoing call of the Captain Commander. "The enemy has come. Attack but keep your distance and do not get headstrong. They have some new annoying collars and an Ayakashi as the leaders. More are probably within the open gate. Fourth Division and Shin'o Academy, begin your evacuations...."Kairo looked to his captain, whose unease had faded to the mask of command..... To be continued..... - END RP -

"Reevaluation": Riku stomped up to the gates of the Eighth division, wearing a violet and black kimono with dusty pink wild flowers. Underneath he wore black, skin fitting pants and a long sleeved shirt. He was furious. The lieutenant still hadn't returned his precious necklace. And today he wouldn't leave until he had it back in his hands. As he walked up to the gates, the guard placed his hands on him. "You must be Riku Asuhara. The captain and lieutenant mentioned you might be coming soon. Welcome." "Thank you," he responded with a tight smile and walked in. "Where can I find the captain or the lieutenant?""I'm not sure about the lieutenant, but the captain should either be in his office or the courtyard next to it." Riku thanked him once again before rushing off. He put his hand on his zanpakuto at his back and pushed it an inch out of its sheathe. He whispered its name. When he approached a building, he let his fingers graze the wall. Instantly the layout of the barracks flashed vividly in his mind. He saw the captain's office in the middle and the courtyard directly outside it. He resealed his zanpakuto and shunpo'd in the direction of the center of the barracks.

Feeling the boys presents in the division, Tsukiro continued with reading the report he was dealing with at the moment. He figured with what Kairo told him earlier in the week what happened between him and the boy, he would be seeing him soon. And low and behold he finally made himself noticeable. Before the boy could take a single step into the courtyard, Tsukiro acknowledged him.
"Hello, Asuhara. I am guessing you are here to retrieve the twice stolen trinket you are laying claim on?" Tsukiro stood and turned slowly, his hand with the report lowered to his side as he looked at the boy now standing on the walkway around the courtyard.
"Come here and sit with me." He motioned with his hand to one of the chairs at his table.

Riku jumped at the captain's voice then turned around and bowed to him, flushing at his words. He sat down like he was told, folding his hands.
"Yes,sir. I would very much like for the lieutenant to return it to me." He pursed his lips, looking down. "As much as I respect Lieutenant Namori, he can be... irking."

Tsukiro chuckled lightly. "Is that what you call it? Hm." He hummed softly as he reached into his haori lifting the necklace from within the the flawless emerald glistened in the afternoon light of the sun.
"Its very beautiful." He replied as it spun at the end of its chain. He then gently laid it to the tabletop. As the boy went to reach for it Tsukiro narrowed his eyes. This causing Riku to withdraw his hand immediately.
"This is stolen merchandise, Asuhara. Tell me why you even fathomed the thought that it would be returned to you with that fact in place?"
The boy fidgeted in his seat as he looked on at him. "Kairo had more that enough reason to take it from you. Even if he did take from you the way he did." He laid the report on the table looking up from it slowly. "Which I did not condone as well."

Riku bit his lips and lowered his head in penatence. "I... I was upset and angry. The man who bought it was cheating on his wife and bought it for his mistress. I pick-pocketed him as punishment. But that still doesn't make it okay. I apologize greatly."
"Hm," he hummed looking at the trinket once more. "Your anger will get you nowhere within the walls of the Gotei. There is nothing but grief to come with that." The looked away and across the courtyard. "Trust me, Asuhara. I know this first hand. All to well. It took Kisuke Urahara and a very dear friend to teach me that bit of life."
Riku nodded firmly. "I understand. Some members of my family were also corrupted by anger and grief after we were forced out. My mind was not in the right place that day. I will keep my hands in my own pockets. I won't ask for the necklace back."

"That's good to hear. The Gotei is not about thievery. It is about honor and dying to exterminate great evil. Know that this is the spirit of the Gotei 13." He lifted his tea cup and took a sip.
"Do you know, while the history of the Gotei 13 remains largely unknown, the organization was founded by Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, who has stood at the head of the group since its inception? The first generation of the Gotei 13 consisted of Yamamoto, Yachiru Unohana and eleven other captains. Captain Shunsui Kyoraku considered this generation to be the strongest version of the Gotei 13."
Riku listened to him not speaking a word as the Captain spoke to him about the Gotei.
"The original Gotei 13 were 'defenders' in name only, comprising nothing less than a brutal mob of killers, but it was for this very reason they were a force to be feared, especially because Yamamoto was a ruthlessly pragmatic leader whom would hold even his subordinates as expendable. It was noted later that the Gotei 13 underwent dramatic changes after the extermination of the Quincy, mellowing out in the ensuing peace, having now found a sense of justice upon discovering things to protect and treasure." He looked to the boy sitting across from him. "These treasure were not stolen nor were they material."

Riku again nodded firmly in understanding. "Yes, sir. I understand. From now on, I will earn my treasures the honest way. From this point on, I will live by my own legacy, not my family's. I will be a soul reaper, not a thief."
Tsukiro nodded. "I am pleased to hear this, Asuhara. You have great potential from what I have witnessed and read in your teachers transcripts. However, there is much you need to improve to become a Stealth Force member. Myself and my lieutenant have very high standards. As well as the others that help me lead the two divisions and their five branches of the Stealth Force."
"I will try my hardest to live up to those standards and then some, Captain Ashimitsu. I will master everything I have to in order to become a member of this Division. Also, Lieutenant Namori's words to me that day struck a cord with me, even if they were a bit rash. I know I have to gain a better sense of maturity before I become a Soul Reaper. That is something else I plan to work hard on. I won't give up on my goals. Nothing will come between me and them. And I hope that I can learn many more things from you and the lieutenant in the future." Riku bowed as best he could from his sitting position.

"Are you sure about this words, twerp?" Kairo quippped as he appeared at Tsukiro's side, a cut on his cheek. "It sounds to me like you enjoyed stealing this trinket, and now you could be saying this to cover your rear end and safeguard your future. Especially since you are mourning another piece." He wiped at the scratch on his cheek and then folded his arms, eyes hardening further. "Just so you know we may play dirty here but if you're playing to get in, I'll gladly scewer you on the first day."

Riku's eyes widened at the lieutenant's words. He shot up in his seat, clenching his fists. "I would never tell the captain what he wants to hear! Never! What would be the point of that? If I were to lie to get in, then that would make my whole career here a lie! And my grief over that has nothing to do with my career. My career and my personal life are separate from each other. Or don't you trust me? Is that it? My family pulls Robin Hood scams and steals from other thieves and people who don't deserve their wealth, so I must not be trustworthy?" Riku's eyes watered but he wiped them away angrily before they fell.
He sat back down in his seat. "Fine then. If that's the case, then I'll prove it to you. Mistrust me all you want, but I won't give up. I'll prove to you that I can be trusted. I'm not lying, and I'm not trying to secure my spot here, and I'll do anything to prove that."
A thought came into Riku's head and he stood up once more, moving over from in front of the chair. He bent down and pulled small hidden knives out of his pant legs and tossed them to the side. He moved the bottom part of his kimono aside and unstrapped the knife belt around his thigh, tossing that with the hidden blades as well. From the other thigh he took off a belt that held a dart gun and several darts. Bit by bit he discarded pieces of his thieving gear that he always kept on him out of habit and tossed them into the pile on the ground. He lifted up his sleeves and took apart his hidden blades. He reached into his kimono and pulled out his ring blades he had used to pick pocket the cheater, a folded piece of leather that held a lock picking kit, and another piece of leather that had several vials filled with liquids and pills that did any number of things one could imagine. There were several other things that the captain and lieutenant couldn't make heads or tails of before Riku sighed with finality after giving himself one more pat down.
"There. That's all of it. All of my gear. Take it and do with it what you will. The only thing I'm keeping is this." He pulled a leather neck strap out of his kimono, and at the end of it was a silver, ornate key with a strange key pattern on the tip. "The key to my personal vault. Everything I own. If you want proof that I'm serious then take that as your proof," he pointed to the gear on the ground. He pulled his zanpakuto out of his sash and held it up. "After all, a Soul Reaper's most important possession is this, correct?"

Tsukiro chuckled as he looked back to the boy. "Are you going to strip as well? I myself will not be impressed. Though you might turn on Kai and a few others in the division." he stood from his chair and walked over to Riku placing his hand to his shoulder.
"There is no need to give up the tools of your trade, young man. They can come in handy for other uses. You only have to give up your sticky fingers. And you are right. Others are not going to trust you unless you do. They will always be looking over their shoulder to see if you are being dishonest. A mistrust like that cannot be within a division. Lives count on trust."

"But would people even want to trust me? From my end, it seems that no matter what I do, they don't care to trust me. They don't want to acknowledge the things I do to gain their trust. People trust who they want to trust, and they sure as hell don't want to trust me. That's been proven to me for years on end," Riku hung his head. "I just don't know what else to do. I don't know what else I can do."

Tsukiro's hand tightened on Riku's shoulder. "It's not you. It's the trade you follow. Your family name is well known throughout Soul Society." The boy looked up at him as Tsukiro continued. "Look at your friends. They trust you. Why? Because they have gotten to know the real you. Not your family name."
His hand dropped from Riku's shoulder as he turned and walked further into the courtyard. "Let's use another example." He turned and looked at Riku once more. "A very well known and trusted Captain of the Gotei was framed by another that was trying to get him out of the way. Because the one knew if he did not, all his attempts of trying to destroy the Gotei would fail. However, the ones that truly knew this man that was being framed, knew that he could and never would do such a thing. They still trusted him, and turned to him in their time of need. The ones that did not know this man turned on him, shunned him and marked him as a traitor."
He paused for a moment to let the boy absorb what was said. "And once the word is spread, the road for the accused becomes much harder. If they are innocent or not."

Riku nodded. "Yes, I understand. I've seen that happen with Sojiro too many times to count. I hate it when people judge him for his name instead of his character. He gets angry just like I do, but that only makes it worse because they see his anger as violent tendencies. I've thought about changing my name, but at the same time, I shouldn't have to. And if I did and people found out I was an Asuhara, it would only make me look worse in their eyes."
He knelt down next to a bush of flowers and picked a white rose. He winced when he felt its thorns prick his finger. He opened his hand and drops of blood dripped from his index finger. He sucked the blood off and snapped off the rose's thorns one by one. He held the thorns in his palm and closed his hand around them, then opened it back up and threw them into the bush.
"If only they were willing to see me for who I am instead of seeing my flaws," he held up the rose to the sky, watching as the sun glinted off the dew covered petals.

"Changing your name would do nothing if you are not willing to walk away from what is giving you said bad name." Tsukiro informed him.
"It won't do much either if you spill out your guts at the first probing question either," Kairo muttered. "If you confess, you look guilty. On the other hand, if you've got something to prove, then do it. Don't just fold at the first sign of trouble." He smirked. "Even if it's me. If you're rattled this much every time someone says something, you'll do nothing but get into fights and sulk. And you're not cute when you do it, unlike a certain friend of yours when he started doing it."
Riku growled and looked at the lieutenant. "I never said I was cute. And everyone has something that rattles their cage when it's said or done. Getting over it and solving the problem is part of growing up. And that's what I intend to do." He tossed the rose to the ground then looked at his gear. "As for walking away from the family business, I've been ready to do that for a while. Old habits die hard, but you can still get rid of them. As for using my skills for something better, maybe that's what I need to do to show I can be trusted."
He moved over to his gear and started putting it back on piece by piece.
Tsukiro and Kairo watched as the boy placed all his gear back on his person. Once Riku was finished he looked up at him. "You rattle too easily, Asuhara." Tsukiro turned and picked the necklace up off the table and slid it back into his haori. "Your temperament will be your undoing. Just as mine did to me." He stepped up on to the walkway around the courtyard, turned and looked at Riku once more.
"You have one year to get your head on straight. If you do not. The Stealth Force will not be in your future plans."
