It was not long after Sumi and Gin disappeared from Gin's room that they reappeared. Gin back in his bed, Kita standing next to him with narrowed eyes. She looked at the Quincy with a deep frown and a newfound look of hatred in her eyes for the man standing across from her in Gin's room. She did not know him, only that he was a friend of Ichigo's and apparently Rukia's with the way they seemed to be talking when they appeared back in the room, but from what she heard had happened from Sumi. Kita now did not trust him.
Kita's arms then came up in a wide sweeping motion as Rukia and Ishida, both, found themselves standing, outside, on the other side of the wall from Gin's room. Completely expelled from the shop. "What... just happen?" Kita heard Ishida asked Rukia. "I am not sure." Rukia replied. Kita then heard their footsteps moving quickly away from where they were cast outside back into the shop.

"Facing the Pain of Reality": (continue) Rangiku turned and looked at Kita smiling warmly at her. “Kita.” She reached out for her. “Its so good to see you again.”
She watched the uneasy Kita move toward them stepping around Gin to his other side.

Kita did not know what to say or do as she moved stiffly forward, toward them. Seeing Rangiku at Gin’s side was like having someone run her through with a red hot blade. She looked to Gin as he laid there in his coma. He knew Rangiku was at his side. Just like he knew when she was at his side, but what should she do? Should she leave and give Rangiku and Gin time alone?
“Kita please. Sit with me.” She heard Rangiku request again.
Kita sighed and walked slowly in the room after closing the door behind her. She walked over and sat on the other side of Gin looking at Rangiku.
“You look good, Rangiku.”

She smiled brightly with a soft chuckle flipping her hair back over her shoulder. “Thank you Kita. I have been through a few changes the last few months. I have taken a new approach on my life.” She looked down at Gin and smiled.
“He looks good Kita. Like he’s... just sleeping.”

Kita nodded and looked to Gin as well, taking his hand that was resting over his chest into hers. “He has lived a very hard life being at Aizen’s side for all those centuries. I guess I can’t blame him for folding under the relief of it all finally coming to an end.”
She caressed his hand softly as she spoke. “He has done so much for me,” her head shook. “No. He has done so much for all of us and so many are still blind to his sacrifice.” She looked up at Rangiku and smiled.
“I am so glad you hold no ill will toward him. He cares very much for you and Izuru,” Kita told her.

Rangiku smiled and brushed his hair from his face. “I don’t think I could ever hold ill will toward Gin, Kita. I do still love him. That will never change.”
Kita’s heart skipped a beat and her head dropped as she closed her eyes slowly. “I understand that.”
Rangiku’s smile widened. “He was my first love. Just like I was his.” Rangiku reached across Gin and touched Kita’s knee as Kita looked up at her. “By the way, how is the baby doing?”
Kita did not look at her she only nodded in reference to her question.

Keeping her eyes closed Kita’s hand tightened around Gin’s. “I can’t do this. She still loves him and I am sure he loves her just as much. Even if he did tell me he loved me. I could never replace her in his heart. Never. I will always be his second love. Seven years of knowing me and the two years at the end with us being together like we were will never imprint on him like centuries of what they shared.”
She opened her eyes and looked to Gin as he lay there. She wished he was there now, but it still would not make this easier. She swore from the start when she felt her feeling starting to change for Gin she would never come between him and Rangiku, and here she is today. The dilemma now presenting itself. “What do I do?”

Rangiku was oblivious to Kita’s turmoil, smiling as she sat back again and took Gin’s hand in hers again. “You know when I first heard it was Gin’s baby, I could hardly believe it. He never-” she giggled, shrugging slightly, “he never seemed the type to create any ties, not after he decided to join the Gotei that snowy night.”
Rangiku looked back at Kita. "Somehow, you changed that with him."

Kita looked up from Gin to Rangiku with a weak smile across her lips. "I guess..." she looked back to Gin. "He just needed someone to show him the way and let him know he was never alone. No matter what."
She caressed his hand gently again. "In his mind, he fought this war alone and in a way, he did." She looked quickly back to Rangiku. "He is so hardheaded. Some days I just wanted to choke the life out if him." She giggled softly and looked back at Gin. "I know for a fact he wanted to choke the life out of me at times."
Subconsciously Kita's hand went to her neck rubbing it softly. She then shook her head and looked to Rangiku once more, tears now pooling in her eyes. "I would live that two years of hell with him again if it meant saving him from that hell hole."

Rangiku looked from Kita to Gin, silence falling between them for a few minutes. Her head then started to shake slowly. “You’re so much stronger than me in that area, Kita. I could never have supported him like that. I don’t know if it is because I am a big chicken or if it is just from being part of the Gotei 13 for so long. I do know I would have been terrified and just as much of him than of any of the rest of our enemies.” Her head lowered, recalling Gin threatening her with Shinsou, the wicked grin on his face before she blacked out.
She sighed heavily, “I do love him, don’t get me wrong. However, what he did was wrong.” She looked to Kita again as she noticed Kita’s eyes narrowing on her, and an angry look growing on her face.
“Kita please don’t get me wrong--” Kita cut her off her tone slightly raised.

“Take your wrong!! What he did was for you! How could you say that?! He risked his life following a man so evil and ruthless he would let his own daughter sit in a cell and rot with the ones he called enemies!” Kita’s hand tightened around Gin’s.
“Aizen used people to get what he wanted and he did not care who he hurt or killed to get it. If you only knew half the things he endured to get close to this man so he could kill him, you would not say that!” Kita could not hold back the tears any longer. Her words now softer almost a whisper.
"The things he endured to protect me. Me. Someone he did not love. Someone he barely knew." She looked quickly back at Rangiku. "He knew you for centuries. He loved you and because of that he put his life on the line for your honor. For your life, and you sit there holding his hand and tell me you love him, but he was wrong~." Her head shook lightly.
"If only I was loved that much." She started to push up from the floor. "I would follow that person to the depths of hell and back."

“Kita!” Rangiku quietly exclaimed as she lifted up dropping Gin’s hand and grabbing Kita’s.
Kita turned looking at her tears now streaming down her cheeks.
“You’re in love with Gin aren’t you?” She asked her.
“What does it matter if I love him or not?” Kita replied. “It is not me who is saying that he was wrong for what he did.”
Rangiku sighed, releasing her hand and sat back down next to Gin looking at him. She remained silent as her mind drifted back to the two of them.
"He changed so much when we entered the academy. He focused on his studies and I rarely saw him." Rangiku sighed again. "He was a genius, so far ahead of me, and there were times I thought he would forget about me. Then, he would show up and help when I was having trouble with my own studies. He graduated in one year. But I wasn't even aware he had become a lieutenant until I had graduated! That's how distant he became."
Kita had sat down again but Rangiku was lost in her memories. "I was happy for him. He'd reached so far in such a short time, and everyone ..... loved Captain Aizen. I'm sure you've heard that before." Rangiku reached to touch Gin's face again. "Yet again, I thought he would forget about me and our promises in the Rukon. He completely ignored me for a long time, up to his promotion to captain. I wonder if he saw me as a distraction back then."

Kita shook her head, "No. He was protecting you. You have to know that. He did tell you why, didn't he? Why he followed Aizen and when he started doing so. He knew what that Bastard was up to from the first day he stepped up to him and started following him." Kita looked at Rangiku as she looked at Gin.
"He confessed everything to Central. I am sure you had to know as well. Everything he did was to protect you and Izuru. He cares for you two so much and loves you both dearly. But if he had not done what he had. Aizen would have made you suffer even worse." Kita closed her eyes, her mind drifting back.
"Please promise me, you can never speak a word of this to anyone outside this room." Opening her eyes she looked to Rangiku as Rangiku nodded slowly. "Gin has done things to me he never wanted to do. Unspeakable things. All because Aizen ordered him to. Gin knew if he did not I would suffer a much worse fate with Aizen and Aizen would have done it only to hurt Gin because he knew the two of us shared a connection."
Kita took a deep breath and started again. "I was shared between Gin and Aizen. Raped and beaten by Gin. Tormented and belittled. But only in front of Aizen. Only when Aizen ordered it. I understood why he did it and if he had not things would have gotten much worse." Her head dropped. "And when Gin and I started rebelling we found out just how much worse. Our hell tripled from what it was before and got worse with each passing day. I almost lost Gin on a few occasions it got so bad."

Rangiku did not know what to say. It was as if all her nightmares had been rolled into one with what Kita was telling her. Her eyes drifted back to Gin as she too started to feel a wetness growing in her eyes. “I am so sorry you had to go through all that, Kita. Once was bad enough.”
She still looked at Gin as he lay there beside her. She had known he had done some unthinkable things in his life, but hearing this made her heart wrench in her chest. What had he all done to complete his quest? She knew she never wanted to know. “Did he .... ever apologize for what he did to you?”
Kita smiled warmly, looking at Gin as well. “Every second of the day.”
Rangiku smiled and looked at Kita. “Do you think he has truly changed now after all this?”

Kita's smile grew. "With all my heart I know he has changed. He is excited about Sojiro. He wants his son to live a good honest life, happy with family and friends surrounding him. Something he never had, but hopes in time he can and will have as well. He feels he is undeserving of it." Kita smiled, reaching for Gin as the back of her fingers brushed against his cheek.
"It will take time, but everyone will learn that Gin Ichimaru is not the man they all believed. He is a very warm and loving man with a warm heart. Not the cold snake they know from the war." She giggled softly. "Though you will never get him to admit it."
