Gin joined her, pulling her into his lap. “Noisy~ Either you didn’t tell me about Sojiro crying or Kadaj missed his mother. It's a little difficult to brood with that."
"Of course Kadaj is going to miss me. I am all he knew for 9 months and five days, and was Sojiro crying because he was worried about me?" She grinned at him. "Or were you a little rough on him during your training with him?" She brushed his bangs from his eyes, but the look on his face told her he knew what happened in Soul Society. Her hand lowered from his face her eyes lowering from his as she fidgeted with Kadaj's pajama on her lap. "I'm alright."
Gin leaned in, setting his forehead against her own. “Liar~” he breathed. “I took Sojiro off training for the time being because he couldn’t focus with you gone. So instead, he spent many hours rocking his crying baby brother with me watching, sometimes helping. He’s still so small to me, after all.” She giggled again. Gin closed his eyes. “You didn’t choose this path like I did, dearest. There is no way you could be alright after seeing the scene of your crime when you’d regained your future — after you’d been set free from the chains that led you to that terrible day. The scars of that moment will continue to hurt you, but there is a great difference between my scars and the ones you bear.” He pulled back and her tearful eyes followed him. “You might have gone astray, but you started on this path for the greater good. To rid the world of evil. You’ll never be as dark as they say you are, and that will be enough."

She moved in closer to Gin as she sat on his lap. "I was called a killer," hot tears streaked her cheeks once more, "but when I was called a baby killer I broke...I ran. I would probably still be running if I had not come across Yumichika and Ikkaku."
Gin wiped at her tears as he listened to her. "I know what I did and want to make amends for my actions. Even if they want to punish me."
"Then I guess I'm going to spend some time in the Maggots Nest~" When Kita's head whipped up, he grinned at her. "No?" The smile turned serious. "Then there's no way you're going to take punishment for the torture you went through!"
"But the Gotei exonerated you from your actions all those years ago. There is nothing to punish you for. My actions on the other hand..." her head lowered again. "I have so much to atone for. The deaths of the souls in Soul Society the lives I took here in Karakura." She looked up at him, their eyes meeting. "The pain and suffering I caused you. Mentally and physically. Because I was a rebellious and pain in the ass kid."
She couldn't help a soft giggle as she wiped away her tears. "Why didn't you just feed me to the hollows of Hueco Mundo? It would have saved you so much trouble. and you would have been free of me." A weak smile crossed her lips. "The annoying insignificant human." She sighed and looked at her hands in her lap that still hung on to Kadaj's pajamas. "I never understood why you would say that to me. In my eyes you were human too, but now. After seeing what I have seen I understand."

Gin’s grip tightened around her as she repeated the words he had told her many, many years ago. Before Aizen had found them. Before they had both been dragged into this war. When an exiled fox had no where to go but a moldy shop and a young girl wouldn’t leave him alone.
He’d tried so hard to stop it, anything forming between them, but even on the roof, he wasn’t safe from her. She didn’t stop coming......
“Why don’t you go bother someone who cares, dearie? I’m not really in the mood for this.”
“But I don’t care what you did in the past, but I want to be your friend.”
“She’s an annoying, insignificant human, that’s being stupid because she won’t ever see the point~”
“I don't know why I am wasting my breath. He’s just going to turn this on me and make it look like the insignificant human's fault. I’ve never been hated before, Kisuke.”
““Why don’t ya get the point of me doin’ that...” ...... Gin nuzzled into her hair to keep his anger in check. “Dearie, I don’t care what scars you wear now. If I ever hear you call yourself insignificant again, I’ll take you over my knee and beat you and then tell the shopkeeper and his cat woman after. We buried that misunderstanding decades ago, and there is no excuse for you to dredge it back up. You never said that after years of abuse from Aizen and myself. Don’t you dare bring that word up now.”
A moment later, he continued as if he hadn’t threatened her. It was instinct, slipping back into his persona from the war, taking the responsibility of lashing her into shape and then adding cold facts to keep the sting from destroying her. “Soul Society punished me for my contributions to the first war. That says nothing about what I did this time. I attacked multiple captains and nearly killed two lieutenants. l was a part of that massacre that will forever haunt you and what came after. And I pushed you to the breaking point in our relationship because the darkness was so close. I sacrificed our balance to find a tipping point, and nearly lost us everything.”
“If you’re going down for this disaster, I will follow you.”

Kita kissed the top of his head, resting her cheek there as her fingertips combed through his silver hair. "I did not mean it in that way. I just mean in general of the human race. After everything I have witnessed..." She paused, her hand resting to his shoulder. "It's exactly what the human race is."
She pulled slightly back and lifted his head with her hands on either side of his face so he would look at her. "They could never survive any type of attack from the Hollows, Espada, Ayakashi, the Soul Reapers..." She fell silent again. Her eyes lowering from his. "or a God."
"Their helpless," tears rolled down her cheeks. "And I took advantage of their weakness with attacking them with Sumi's powers." Silence fell between them again. "And I'm ashamed of it."

“They may be helpless now, but really, that doesn’t last. After all, everyone on that list comes from those little things you like to call souls, in one manner or another.” Gin murmured, his fingers wiping at her tears. "Even stick in the muds like Kuchiki and the rest of the fancy nobles." She giggled a bit at that and Gin smiled, kissing her eyelid.
“They died quickly, Kita. As a soul reaper and as your partner, I know that, and we both knew that keeping your hands clean the second time there would be difficult. Nearly impossible if we were being honest. You agreed to protect the kids, and in the end, you did. No one said it would be easy. Grieve for them if you must but do not let their lives drag yours down. You took their lives for a reason — even if you had forgotten at that stage. That is what makes you different than anyone else in that senseless slaughter that day.”

Kita nodded her head slightly, "I just want all this guilt to stop weighing on me, and with the greeting I received in Soul Society..." she sighed heavily. "It's not going to be easy." Gin brushed a lock of her hair from her face as a knock echoed through the room. They both turned and looked toward the open door. A wide bright smile crossed her lips.
"I brought your boy to you." Yoruichi informed them as she walked into the room with the cooing Kadaj.
Kita lifted from Gin's lap and walked over to Yoruichi as she passed Kadaj off to her. Taking Kadaj from her, Kita cooed, rubbing the back of her index finger against Kadaj's silky soft cheek. Turning she walked back over to Gin.
"Has he eaten?" Kita asked.
Yoruichi nodded, "Yep, he had a bottle before I brought him up to you." She turned to leave them to themselves. "Enjoy your little man."
Kita nodded, "Oh I will," sitting down next to Gin she looked over at him. "I know it was only three days, but I really missed my three men."

“Well, if you didn’t miss your family, then there’s something wrong with you,” Gin murmured, head tilting to the side as he watched the infant kick and coo at his mother. “It’s good for you to have an anchor at this time, too. It will make the guilt easier when you can see the result of your decision, the good as well as the bad.” As she stroked her son’s face, he lifted his own fingers to run down her tear-tracked cheek. “It’s only been three days, Kita. You’re allowed to be vulnerable, guilty, sick of yourself, all of the above or anything else you need to be. The important thing is to keep the consequences from swallowing you whole, and you have all the right pieces for that. Give yourself time and don’t shut yourself away. I- We want to be here for you.”
She didn’t have to be alone as he had.

Kita smiled at her lover, leand over and kissed his cheek. "You be sure to remember that too." She kissed his cheek again. "I'll always be here for you."
She sat back with a bounce, "here now." She stood and put Kadaj in his arms. "I need to get dressed. Tessia said dinner would be ready soon. Plus, I want to see my other boy." She walked across the room to her dresser.
"I am sure he will tell me all about you picking on him, while I was gone."

Gin adjusted his arms automatically, taking a few moments to reassure himself that the tiny soul wasn’t upset at his handling of him. He seemed to fuss a little less each time. “Now why would I pick on him? I don’t always move onto another target when my favorite is gone.” He looked over to her, eyes on the sway of her hips. “Sometimes I wait for the better meal."

Kita looked over her shoulder a slight smile on her lips as she closed the drawer on her dresser. "Your next meal, huh?"
She turned back to the dresser opening another drawer. "Well just remember he is our son, not some random person you met while out and about. Don't swallow him. Goes for the little one your holding as well. One day he will be stuck to your hip pocket." She turned and looked pointedly at Gin.
"Then what are you going to do?"

“Stuck to my hip pocket, hmmmm?” Gin mused, continuing to watch her shamelessly. “I thought only one person gets that privilege and it’s the beautiful siren dancing before me at a highly inappropriate time. Since when did I agree to share that with others, my sons included?” When she didn’t immediately retort, he added one more detail. “Not sure they’d enjoy it actually. It’s kind of wet~"

Kita spun quickly with a shocked look on her face. "Gin Ichimaru! Shame on you!" Her head shook as she saw little Kadaj asleep in Gin's arms. She pointed at bassinet across the room, gesturing for him to lay him down.
As Gin stood slowly from the bed with Kadaj, Kita flipped her hair over her head combing her fingers through the long raven hair so to put it up. With a tug, a twist, a few tucks, her hair was done. Part of it was pulled up while the end draped down her back. When she was done she turned looking at Gin with a warm smile. Gin's face was blank of expression. It then dawned her. The scar on her back that Vacanze could not heal. The scar she got when Aizen had her whipped by the hands of the man she loved.
"I'm sorry. I was not thinking." She sighed and quickly grabbed her top putting it on.

Gin surged up from the bed and wrapped his arms around her from behind, pulling her back against him. “Stop it,” he whispered harshly. “I stare because I remember it but not for the reasons you are thinking, dearie. It’s a mark of how far they tried to break us apart and how they never could succeed.”
He buried his head in her hair by her ear and pulse point, one hand pushing her shirt up to smooth up her toned ribs to hold a breast, the other caressing her hips. “Even if I remember the guilt of that time, that means I recall you forgiving me, too. When everyone around was sickened by it.” His arms tightened. “It’s a beautiful mark. Of your bravery. And your trust. Your love.” He sucked at her throat. “I almost lost it but I did not. Don’t stop me from looking, Kita Miyamoto. I will never keep my eyes from any part of your body.”

Kita turned in his embrace, wrappings her arms around his neck as she looked into his eyes. "Why would I stop you from looking?" She gave his lips a quick peck but lingered a breath's distance away.
"If someone 30 years ago told you, you were going to meet an 11-year-old girl and in time fall in love with her. What would you have told them?" one of her hands lifted as she combed her fingers through the hair on the back of his head.
Gin chuckled with a wide grin across his lips. "That they were drunk or really angry with this poor kid to sentence them to the likes of little ol- me."
Kita giggled softly, her head shaking slightly. "You will never stop being so hard on yourself will you?"

Gin’s smile softened in return, his arms pulling her closer. “I have to do something to deserve you, you know~”
She kissed him again, her hand cupping his cheek. “You kept me alive. That’s deserving enough.”
Gin hummed to himself, tilting his face into her hand. “Then how about deserving of getting kids with you?” he quipped, half serious, half in jest. He nibbled on the pulse of her palm.
"Hmm," her head shook, "nope, I don't have anything for that one." She giggled softly, kissing his lips once more. "Maybe the Gods thought there needed to be an heir for the Ichimaru clan. I mean--since you think you did so wrong by it."
"Well, they wouldn't be wrong about that. There was nothing left of us after all," Gin purred, kissing down her upraised arm, making it tingle just enough. "Not that the Ichimaru was worthy enough for any clan or heirs. That makes us sound like the stuffy nobles."
She giggled again. "Careful. That's my best friend you're insulting."
"Well, she's not my lover," the fox whispered, lowering her arm to kiss her once more. "Are you stopping me?"
