At that moment, Ichigo came in, carrying a big box on his shoulder. “Old Man, where –“ he saw Kita and quirked a half-smile. “Hey… Kita. How’s the kid?” Not waiting for a reply, he walked over to his dad and set the box on the table, rubbing his already messed up hair. “You know I keep telling you that you need to hire more help for the office, not search for more patients.” he continued in the same lackluster voice. Isshin waved his hand. “I know, I know. I’m considering it.”
"Whatever." Ichigo shook his head and indicated the box. “Where do you want this one? The storage as well or upstairs?”

Isshin looked at the box seeing it was past files and paperwork. "Put it upstairs in my room. I need to go through that box again and shred some things." Ichigo nodded as he turned and walked toward the stairs, the box back on his shoulder. Isshin combed his fingers through his hair and lend against the counter again. "What I need is four more hands," he said under his breath.
Isshin's head then turned looking at Kita when he heard her giggle softly. "What? I do."

Kita smiled shaking her head. "I don't think the women would like you with four hands. Your a big enough handful with two hands, Isshin."
He chuckled softly walking back over to the table and sat on the edge of it looking at Kita. "Maybe you're right there."
"Oh, I know I am right there." Kita said giggling again and wide eyed.

Isshin chuckled again, "can you file, answer the phone, check in patients."
Kita nodded to all the above.
"Want a job?" Isshin asked her with a begging look in his eyes and a warm smile.

Ichigo leaned on the railing upstairs, waiting for her to reply. It would be a good thing for Kita to get a job and stop waiting around for…. an idiot fox. His eyes narrowed as his mind turned again to Orihime. Two weeks. Two weeks and not word or sign of her. He’d almost settle for an espada’s taunting now. He focused on the noise from downstairs as Kita spoke up again.

Shaking her head slightly, Kita looked to the stuffed bear sitting on the table. "I don't know, Isshin. I mean...I know I should get out of the shop, but..." She stood from her chair as the legs scraped across the tile floor.
"But what, Kita?" Isshin asked her, resting his hand to her shoulder.
Her head shook again as she rested her hand on the hilt of Shinsou, her hand tightening around it, a deep sigh escaping her. "I just don't feel comfortable leaving Gin's side that long." She looked at Isshin and gave him a weak smile. She could see the disappointment in his eyes. "I'm sorry, Isshin, but after being at his side for almost two years nonstop and fighting against the odds...and now..." she sighed again and hung her head.
"I'm sorry. I know that sounds selfish and--" Kita was cut off as Ichigo burst back in the room. His look was not pleased.

Still carrying his load and ignoring a warning look from his dad, Ichigo set the box down and kicked it aside to get to Kita. He didn’t care. He was tired of this shit. Tired of all the lives affected by Aizen and his posse. Putting both hands on either side of her, he glared down at her, eyes blackening around the edges.
“You already carry his damn sword around like it’s some kind of lifeline and are carrying his kid. You’re already fucking tied to him," he spat. "That does NOT mean you can’t have your own life. Stop letting him drag you down, Kita. You had more life in you when you were in love with Tsukiro! He's better off dead if this is what he does to you. Wake the hell up!"

Kita shoved both her palms into Ichigo chest causing him to stumble back and break his grasp on her. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she glared at him. "I would not carry his sword at my side if it weren't for assholes like you that want to see him dead." She growled.
"As far as being tied to him. Yes I am, but I owe him for what he has done for me the last two years. If it were not for him I would be dead." She shook her head and stepped around Ichigo. "And you have a lot of fucking nerve going off on me when you're no better with sitting around here moping over Hime." She opened the door to leave. "Go to hell Ichigo!"
The door slammed behind her as she walked from the room and toward the front door stepping into her shoes.

Getting up, Ichigo started to go after her as the door slammed in his face. He walked backwards, tripping on the box, and fell into it. He put a hand to his face. “That…. went well. …. Idiot….. “ He leaned back and looked up at the ceiling, mumbling to himself. “What am I supposed to do? I fail Orihime…. I failed Karin…. I don’t want to kill the fox…. but Kita’s making it hard to remember that… She won't do anything.” He reached into his pocket for the substitute badge. He tossed it behind him, not sure why he was carrying it around. “I’m useless…”

Karin, hearing the commotion and coming down, caught the badge. She looked over at her brother laying in the box, eyes dreary and not really looking at anything. She squared her shoulders. This was getting old. She tossed the badge at his head.
“Hey!” Ichigo groaned, sitting up as best he could in the smashed box. “What was that for!?” he growled.
Karin walked over and stabbed him in the chest with her finger. “That. is. Yours,” she said. “Don’t go tossing it around because things got tough.”
Ichigo blinked at her and then fell back against the other side of the box. “I don’t care. I’m done with it.”
“What?”
“I SAID I’m done,” Ichigo muttered.
Karin couldn’t believe her brother was giving up. She took a step towards him, fist raised, before her hand was caught.
She looked up at her father, who shook his head, patted her head, and then moved towards his son.
Karin turned to the fridge, pulled out a bento and disappeared back upstairs just before a huge BANG echoed in the small house.
Yuzu poked her head out of her room. “What was that?”
Karin smiled. “Someone doing something about the raincloud in this house.”

Isshin walked up to his son resting one hand on the wall at the side of his head and looked him in the eyes. "Tell me son? How would you feel if someone told you to give up on Inoue?"
Ichigo looked away from his father. "I wouldn't give up on her." Ichigo grumbled.
"And you expect for Kita to just walk away from Ichimaru because none of us like him?"
Ichigo looked back at his dad about to protest as his father raised a finger, stopping him, his head shaking lightly. "You're right. Ichimaru and Inoue are two very different people, but do you really think if Ichimaru was all that evil Kita would be here today?" He pushed off the wall and turned from his son picking up the smashed box. "Not to mention. Made a child with her."
He started a path to the upstairs with the box in his arms. "What happened between them was not some evil plot worked out from Aizen or Ichimaru. This is not an act. If it were Kita would not be carrying Shinsou at her side. He would not allow it. Gin might be able to hide his feelings and emotions well, but he can't make his zanpakuto do something this out of the ordinary. Shinsou knows that his Master love that girl very much." His father's words started to fade as he walked up the stairs. "That's why Kita is alive and back home and Aizen is finally dead."

Ichigo slumped to the ground, rubbing his throbbing head. “I know that. I know that.” He scratched furiously at his head. “But this is Ichimaru. And Kita’s moping because he didn’t have the guts to do the right thing until now. It’s all his fault she’s upset.” And you’re not moping?
He growled to himself and banged his head against the palm of his hand. “My situation is different than hers. I failed people. She …” "... Kita is alive and back home and Aizen is finally dead."
“Damn!” Ichigo grabbed his badge from the ground and stood up, stumbling over himself to get his shoes on, as he rushed out the door. “Let’s hope she’s in one of the usual places but not at the shop yet. I already have a headache." Moved

"Grand Birthday Scene": With the bowl against her, Yuzu whipped at the dark chocolate topping for the lemon cake in the oven. She stepped aside as Karin rushed over to pull out plates for the table. Ichigo was currently laying a lavender lace tablecloth over the old piece of funiture, a key piece for the occasion - thanks to Yoruichi’s skills. Finished with that, he reset his violet Dahlia corsage to little avail. Karin, dressed a navy pants suit, took over for him.
Yuzu chuckled and set the topping down to cool as the time beeped for the cake. Pulling on her over mitts, she retrieved a knife and poked the center. Perfect. Turning the oven off and grabbing the second mitt, she carefully pulled the first layer out and then the second, setting them side by side.
Covering both the cake and the topping with a cloth, she grabbed what she needed for the salad. A few minutes later, her father returned from work.
“Welcome back, Father,” she murmured, still chopping. The timer beat again and she slid the cucumbers in with the greens. “Your suit is on your bed.” As Ichigo started to berate him for being late, she hummed and continued to work.
She took out a spatula, turned the topping to check for viscosity, and then grabbed the knife, slowly pulling the cake from the pan onto the first serving tray. Cutting it in half lengthwise to fit, she layered the chocolate fudge on top thinly before carefully setting the second half on top. She did the same with the second cake and then tipped the bowl upside down to let thick waterfall of chocolate pour down on first one and then the second.
“Karin?” she called. “Did you slice the strawberries?”

Karin nodded, grabbing her brother in a head-lock to stop the rough-housing. “They’re in the fridge in the blue bowl. She chuckled as Yuzu skipped to the fridge, pulled out the bowl, and returned to the countertop with the cake, decorate the cake’s sides and top with strawberry hearts and singing quietly. For all the work they had gone to, the party could have been a wedding. She squeezed her brother one more time and released him, fixing her hair.
“Hurry up and get dressed, Old Man. You’re late,” she stated.

Isshin looked around the house and nodded as he smiled widely. "You kids have done a great job here," he walked toward the back doors. "You boys get the backyard set up as well?" He slid them open and looked out at a fully set up and decorated backyard. "Perfect place for us old men to hang out and get drunk with the birthday girl."
He chuckled softly, turned and walked toward the stairs to go change as his kids screamed for him to 'GO CHANGE'.
"Alright. Alright. I am going."
