Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 409 "Learning": (Continued) Kaya walked toward the door to let in their guest as Ide set the table. A few moments later, she and their guest entered the dining room. "Ide, say hello to our guest."Ide set a bowl to the table and bowed slightly. "Hello, Imai-san. It's good to see you again." "A pleasure, Ide." Methuselah nodded. He sat down at the table. "Your mother tells me that you have questions about things you can see."Ide looked to his mother. "I do. Did she tell you why I have questions?" Kaya whispered an objection to her son's forwardness. "Ide..."

Methuselah chuckled as he folded his arms over his chest. He looked to Kaya. "He is his father's child."
"Wait..." Kaya looked at Imai curiously. "You know Vale?"
Methuselah nodded slowly. "I knew him as Seto Testuya. Nowadays, he calls himself Vale Tervaden."
"Why?" Ide sat across from Imai-san. "Why does he go by Vale? He told me that his name was Seto."
"Seto was much kinder than this Vale Tervaden he's become. Perhaps he wanted you to first see his kindness." Methuselah looked the boy over. "Are you sure he's Tervaden's, Kaya? He doesn't look very much like him."
Ide laughed. "I think I look just like him." Ide pulled his phone out of his pocket and pulled up a photo. "I snuck a picture. See.." He held out his phone showing a picture of the grey haired man with a low beard and goatee.
Methuselah hummed low. "Interesting."
"What?"
"He looks more like himself again..." Methuselah took the phone from the boy. "For quite some time he had longer hair, a more youthful face...Actually a different face entirely. I wonder..."

"How would he have a different face?!" questioned Ide in disbelief. "That doesn't make sense, Imai-san."
"Spiritual beings are strange that way." Methuselah exhaled loudly. "It is possible that his willingness to be a vessel of a god physically changed him..."
"Huh?!"
Methuselah stroked his beard. "Perhaps exposure to the Hogyoku...Or maybe his brief time in hell... Hm..."
"Imai-san!" shouted Ide. "What are you talking about?!"
"Ide...Calm down." Kaya folded her hands together on top the table. "Imai-san, if you could kindly clarify your thoughts..."
"My apologies. From what I've gathered, Tervaden willingly allowed himself to be a vessel to the fire god, Alister. What that means is the god had a tangible form and Tervaden had nearly full use of the god's power. As for his time in hell...I've been told that another god banished him to hell when we were..." Methuselah's words trailed off as he lost himself in thought.
"Mom..." Ide groaned. "This is so much..."

"I apologize, Ide." Methuselah raised a hand. "Ask a question and I will do my best to keep my answers as plain and simple as possible." He nodded and gave the boy a moment to think.
Ide took a deep breath. "Seto said he killed people and now others don't like him for it. Is that true."
Methuselah nodded. "A man named Gengyo killed his wife, Erise. That sent Tervaden on a rampage. He killed many...many men and woman of his division. He should have stood trial for those deaths. But, he was never captured."
"Okay..." Ide looked at his mother who sat in silence. "He said that he was heartbroken..."
"He could have been." replied Methuselah. "I know him to be a honest man despite his chaotic disposition. If he told you that, I would believe it."
"So, he's a bad guy?"
Methuselah noticed a drop in the boy's tone. "Depends on the side you're on. After he left the Soul Society,"
"The Soul Realm?"
"Yes...The Soul Society is within the Soul Realm. After he left, he went to Las Noches...The Hollow realm. There, he joined a man named Sousuke Aizen. That man attempted to..." Methuselah thought on a way to simplify what he wanted to say. "Aizen sought to gain enough power to overthrow the Soul King by destroying the Soul Society and killing an incredible number of humans."

Ide sat, staring at Imai-san. "My dad's a bad guy."
Methuselah laughed. "I wouldn't worry over it, Ide. Tervaden is...an interesting man. But, now that he knows you're his son, he will protect you with every fiber of his being. In fact, I would assume that if you were with him, even for a second, you may have the tiniest shard of his zanpakuto in you."
"What?!" Ide sprang up from his seat. He twisted and turned as he ran his hands across his body.
"Ide...Relax. You wouldn't feel it. And, it would be his way of protecting you and your mother."
"How?" asked Kaya as she stood and walked around the table. She fixed her son's clothing and motioned for him to sit back down.
"His zanpakuto, Chinmoku, is a unique one. When he calls upon it's power it become millions of small shards. He can, of course, use these shards to attack. Cause hallucinations, both auditory and visual. He's taken that skill and turned it on its head. He can embed those shards and use them as his eyes and ears. The person carrying those shards would be none the wiser."
"So...What, he can hear us right now?" Ide questioned. He sighed as Imai-san nodded.
"If he wanted to..." Methuselah leaned closer to Ide. "Understand that he is doing so at a great cost to his wellbeing. Leaving that shard in you means that he will not recall his power. Which means he has to exert a lot of energy to make his blade appear sheathed and whole."
"But, he never unsheathed it to begin with..."
Methuselah hummed to himself. "Then, he is already spread out."
"Well..." Ide looked over his shoulder at his mother. "Wait! How do you too know each other?! And," he looked at Imai-san again. "How did you know Vale was my father?! Mom said you didn't know."

Kaya blushed as she walked back around the table. "We...We..." Kaya sat down in a huff. "It's okay for your mother to have friends, Ide Hasegawa!"
Ide smiled and looked down at the empty plate in front of him. "Sorry, mom." After a few moments, he turned his attention back to their guest. "What's a Quincy?"
Methuselah leaned back in his chair. "Quincy and Soul Reapers have the similar purpose. We're both meant to take care of souls once they become hollows. Where a Soul Reaper can purify a hollow, Quincys destroy them. We did so without any regard for balance."
"How come?" asked Ide.
"Quincys...To put it plainly...We are allergic to hollows. An attack from a hollow leading to injury...Would most certainly result in death. We couldn't wait for the Soul Reapers to take care of the problem."
"So...You're a Quincy?"
Methuselah nodded. "And, a Soul Reaper." he smiled. "I am complicated man. But, I am not the only one."
"Ide," Kaya pushed her glasses up along the bridge of her nose. "Do you have any more questions for Imai-san?"

"Who else is there?" questioned Ide. He was getting a headache.
"Permanent residents of Karakura that are Soul Reaper, Quincy or both? That would be Kisuke Urahara, Yoruichi Shihoin, their son Kenji, and Tessai Tsukabishi. There is also Koi Coda. But, she stays to herself."
"What about that Ichimaru guy?"
Methuselah nodded. "Yes...Gin Ichimaru. He is also a member of the Urahara household. He has a son, Sojiro. Then there is the Kurosaki clan. Isshin, his son Ichigo, and his daughters Karin and Yuzu." Methuselah took a deep breath. "And, finally there is my family. Sadow, Naito, Takai and Rin. My wife, the mother of Naito and Takai, passed away. Naito is dead. There is also my brother Kinzo. He is, outside of Sousuke Aizen, the biggest threat to the realms...Or, at least he would be if he ever made full use of his power."
"You old guys are crazy..." mumbled Ide. "Why are all you out to just destroy a bunch of things."
"Kinzo is a year older than you."
"Oh..." Ide looked at Imai-san who seemed to be drifting in thought again. "Hey, Imai-san...Do you think my dad...Vale...Do you think he..."
"Ide, you've taken in quite a bit of information in such a short time. Why don't we end this session of questions. And, pick it up again in a few days?"
"Do you think he'll be around now that he knows..."
Methuselah sighed. "He'll be here far more than you think he will be. He will keep silent watch. Remember that you are not the only person his heart beats for. He has his infant son. And, the mother of his child."
A tear fell from Ide's eye. He nodded. "Okay..."

"Sweetheart," Kaya sighed at her son's visible discomfort. "Why don't you go get the rest of the food and bring it to the table."
"Okay..." Ide got up from the table and walked into the kitchen.
"Imai," Kaya brushed her hair behind her hair. "He's overwhelmed." she nodded. "Let's give him time. Move slowly, at his pace."
Methuselah nodded. "It may be best to address this as soon as possible. He is part Shinigami. It may not be evident yet, but he will develop some sort of power as a result of it. I am willing to help him, if his father is unable to."
"I..." Kaya shook her head. "What does that mean, he'll develop powers? What am I looking for?"
"You won't know until it happens. Making Tervaden aware of him will, undoubtedly, make him a target for some. His power will also draw hollows to him. But, don't worry." Methuselah rose from his seat and walked over to Kaya. He rested his hands to her shoulders. "Tervaden will protect you. And, he sent Ide to Urahara. Now, they too are aware of him. He's given the boy an extra layer of protection. Ide is safe."
Kaya smiled. "Alright."

Ide returned with full arms. "Help!" he shouted nearly dropping a plate. Imai caught it. "Thanks, Imai-san." As he sat the plates to the table, Ide looked to Imai-san. "Can you tell me what he was like? Before what happened...Happened?"
Methuselah nodded. "A kind man. Gentle and understanding. Very intelligent. But, purposefully complicated. I think he liked it that way. He was always far enough ahead that it would be hard for others to second guess him. Or, change his plans. But, there was a time where his good far outweighed his bad."
"Grief can change a person..." said Kaya.
"It can." Methuselah agreed. "Something in him broke when his wife died." Methuselah sat, thinking as Kaya placed a bowl of rice in front of him. "Let us bookmark this conversation, Ide. There are some things that I need to sort out before telling you more. And, perhaps Vale will speak with you again before then. "
Ide nodded with a smile. "Alright. I need a break anyway. My head's starting to hurt." Ide turned the bowl of rice in front of him. "Well, one more question. And, then we're done."

"You want to know where he is." Methuselah looked to the boy. "He is, most likely, in Las Noches. I don't feel him here. And, I doubt that he would go back to the Soul Society." His eyes narrowed at the boy. "No...You can not go there. And, no. No one that can take you, will."Ide made a face and looked down into his bowl. "Ide, do your best to not allow what you've learned here tonight to cloud how you see him. Let him paint that picture for you." He watched as the boy nodded. The three became quiet and spoke very little as they finished their dinner. Methuselah left soon after, choosing to give Kaya and the boy time to process what they've learned about Tervaden.END RP "Broken Promise"
