"Wisteria Phantom": (continued)
Once Riku was on the third floor, he made a beeline for the back of the floor where the lord’s chambers were. He did not enter, however. Instead, he entered the room next door, a bedroom that was outfitted with thick, black drapes over everything. Every wall and every window. There was a western-style bed along one wall with wrist and ankle cuffs attached to the bed. There were dressers that he knew contained several paraphernalia that Riku would have rather not thought about. He also knew that this was only one of three rooms like this in the manor. The other two were on the second floor where the servant had been leading him. Thankfully this room was empty and looked as if it had been for some time. Riku shuddered at the thought of himself ending up in this room. He went to the back wall and parted the thick black drapes, revealing a set of doors to a balcony. He silently slipped outside after surveying the area, seeing that all the other manors in the area either had their lights off or their drapes closed. It was still storming, the rain pouring down and the claps of thunder silencing his movements. He knew no one would see him as he climbed the railing, leaping from this balcony to the next, the one where the lord’s chambers were.
Riku slid the doors open just the slightest bit, seeing the lord pacing around his room, a white sleeping kimono wrapped around him. He was younger than three hundred. That much was true. He was also rather handsome. He had to be in order to lure so many young lives into danger as he had. His black hair was smoothed back and his face was clean-shaven. He muttered to himself impatiently, a hand on his chin and mouth.
“Where the hell is he? He told me she would be ready! I waited weeks for this! I even passed up other prospects just for this one!”
“Oh really? You flatter me,” Riku announced quietly as he slipped into the room, closing the door and the drapes behind him.
Konoba spun around, flinching in shock. “Wh-what?! Who goes—” Once he got a good look at the hair and eyes, his face twisted into anger. “You! You’re that girl! So you were an assassin!? I knew those Masanobu bastards were targeting me! Well I’m not going down without a fight, you hear me!” Konoba turned towards his dresser to grab a katana that rested there.
Riku was behind him before he could turn around, pulling a length of shibari cord out of the inside of his obi. Before the man could blink, Riku had bound his hands and yanked him around to face him. Konoba charged at Riku, but Riku pranced from the floor to the western-style four post bed to his left, stepping on the bed and looping around the posts until the shibari cord was woven around the posts in a figure eight. He hopped back down to the floor, permanent space placed between him and Konoba.
Konoba growled through his teeth. “You little bitch! I’ll kill--!”
Riku yanked on the cord, pulling the threaded cord hard enough to yank Konoba against the post. His head bounced off the post with a hollow thud and he collapsed onto the floor, his arms suspended above him.
“Sorry, I didn’t catch that~ What were you saying?” Riku tied off the cord and walked up to Konoba’s unconscious body. He leaned over and held his hand up to his ear mockingly. “‘I’m a freak and I need my hands cut off because I can’t keep them off of innocent children’? Why Lord Konoba, what admirable character development you’ve displayed!” Riku stood up straight and kicked the man in the head for good measure. “Scum. I’m a boy, by the way.”
He walked over to the man’s personal desk and plucked a pencil and a piece of parchment from a drawer. “‘Dear Masanobu Clan, you’re welcome. Again. Sincerely, Robin Hood and His Merry Men.’” Once he was finished writing, fudging his handwriting into the basic style everyone in his clan used, he folded the paper and walked back over to Konoba stuffing the note into his sleeping kimono. “Now then, Lord Konoba,” he smacked a couple times the man’s face before turning and walking off. “I’ll be cleaning out your vault. You won’t be needing your money or your valuables where you’re going. You can sit in prison wallowing in the embarrassment that you got done in by a sixteen year old girl…” Riku paused at the bedroom door, blinking. “Boy.” He shrugged and shoved the door open. “Oh well. What he doesn’t know can’t hurt us~”
Riku spent the next twenty minutes gathering as much as he could carry from the Konoba fault, looking coins, jewelry, fabrics, heirlooms, and even a new kimono for himself. A white one with red peonies. He smiled brightly and dressed in it, gathering the rest of the valuables into a wooden carrying backpack and cloth he looted from the storage room. He tied off the cloth then lifted the pack over his shoulders and went back downstairs, slipping into his geta and grabbing his umbrella. He opened the front door and turned around, smiling up at the third floor window.
“Thank you, Lord Konoba! I won’t forget your kindness!” Riku smirked as he walked down the path, lowering his umbrella over his face.
