"On Shaking Ground": (Continued)

Small tremors pulled Ryo out of her office and onto the stone paved pathways of the Ninth. At first very small but still unusual for their realm. Then, the tremors grew fierce, shaking all the realms. She looked up to find building toppling and crumbling from the shaking. Ryo looked down, stepping to the side as a crack ripped through and split the grounds. "What is happening?" Ryo drew her blade and focused on the heat warming the earth beneath her feet.

Fires erupted from the cracks. But, as quickly as they came, they were subdued by the Flame of the Ninth. Ryo rested the tip of Sekijouten to the edge of the growing crack and calmed the glow of the fires growing in the depths of the crack. But, something felt unusual about the unfolding events. Ryo raised a hand as if reaching for something. She could feel the heat of the fires erupting elsewhere but then...Ryo closed her eyes as the expression on her face changed. It was a mix of confusion and fear.

"What fire is so strong its heat could be felt in another realm?!" she whispered, drawing her hand toward her chest. Ryo shook her head. "The work of Aizen? Or his Ayakashi?"

"Captain!" Hisagi called out and pointed north.

More fires were erupting.
