“Personal Space”:
Fuu Ayumu stood outside the building, the cool breeze of Nakano Village sweeping through her dark hair. She glanced up at the modest but clean exterior of the apartment complex. It was a typical Japanese-style building, not flashy but comfortable, with a soft beige exterior and dark wooden accents that framed the windows and balconies. A subtle tension hummed through her as she prepared herself to take the next big step in her life—getting her own place.
The decision hadn’t been easy. Her parents were wonderful people, warm and supportive, and living with them wasn’t a bad experience. But after her recent release from Division Nine, something had shifted inside her. She felt the weight of her responsibilities, and living under her parent's roof, no matter how welcoming, made her feel like she was stalling. She was a grown woman with her own life now, and it was time to start living it on her own terms.
Nakano Village had always felt like home to her. Located not too far from her parents’ place, it had a charming, almost nostalgic atmosphere. The narrow streets, lined with small shops, felt familiar and comforting. She remembered running through these streets as a child, chasing after her friends and enjoying festivals during the summer months. Yet, the pull toward independence was stronger than her sense of nostalgia.
The apartment complex in front of her was one she had passed many times before, but today, she saw it differently. Today, it represented opportunity, a chance to claim her space and forge her own path.
"Here goes nothing," Fuu muttered under her breath, straightening her posture and walking toward the entrance.
