The sliding doors of the building whooshed open, and she stepped into a small, clean lobby. A pleasant scent of polished wood and freshly brewed tea filled the air.

At the reception desk sat an older man with salt-and-pepper hair neatly combed to one side, wearing a crisp gray yukata. His face was kind, framed by a pair of round spectacles that rested on his nose. He looked up from the newspaper he had been reading and smiled warmly.

"Ah, welcome!" His voice was gentle but carried a surprising strength. "You must be Ayumu-san. I got your message about wanting to view one of our units."

Fuu smiled and bowed slightly. "Yes, that’s right. I’m Fuu Ayumu. Thank you for meeting with me today."

"Of course, of course. My name is Yamada Genji," he replied, standing up and motioning for her to follow. "Come this way, let me show you the apartment.”

Fuu followed the man out of the office into a corridor.
