Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: The ChaosEpisode 534 "Academy Interview": (continued) “Enter,” came the low voice from within. The door opened easily, and she stepped inside, taking in the serene atmosphere of the headmaster’s office. Isamu Yamaguchi was an imposing figure, known for his deep understanding of the law and strong ties to the Soul Society’s higher courts. His graying hair was neatly tied back, and he sat behind his desk with a stack of papers in front of him, likely documents of great importance related to the curriculum.
Reika’s heart raced slightly, but she calmed herself. Her years of teaching had trained her to handle even the most daunting of students, and she reminded herself that this was just another classroom—only now, she was the one in the spotlight.
“Good afternoon, Headmaster Yamaguchi,” Reika greeted with a slight bow, her tone respectful but confident. The headmaster looked up, his gaze piercing but not unkind. “Hitoshi Reika,” he acknowledged, motioning toward a chair. “Please, sit.” “Thank you,” she responded, her voice steady as she moved toward the chair and sat, crossing her legs neatly and placing the folder on her lap.“Let’s begin,” Yamaguchi said, picking up a quill and eyeing her carefully. “You’ve come highly recommended, I see, from the Koriyama and Tori families. Both have spoken well of your methods and discipline. But teaching children of noble birth and instructing future Soul Reapers in the law are two very different tasks. Why do you feel you are suited for this position?”

Reika had prepared for this question. She met his eyes without hesitation, projecting confidence and sincerity. “Headmaster, the law is something I hold in the highest regard, regardless of who I am teaching. In my years as a tutor, I’ve taught the foundations of our society—the duties and responsibilities of noble families, the importance of justice, fairness, and loyalty to the Soul Society. These principles do not waver, whether I’m teaching the children of noble lineage or future Soul Reapers. My aim has always been to instill a deep respect for the laws that govern our world.”
Yamaguchi’s expression remained unreadable, but he nodded thoughtfully. “I have no doubt that you understand the gravity of law. But the students here at the Academy are not just learning it—they are preparing to enforce it, often in life-or-death situations. How do you plan to equip them for such challenges?”
Reika sat up a little straighter, her hands folded in her lap as she thought carefully about her response. “In any form of instruction, I believe that theory must be balanced with practical application. The law is a living entity, changing as society evolves, but its core values remain the same. If given the chance, I will emphasize not only the importance of knowledge but also the wisdom to apply it in various situations. I intend to use historical case studies, simulations, and discussions that allow students to engage with real-world scenarios. It is through these exercises that students will learn to make decisions under pressure, weighing justice against circumstance.”

The headmaster tilted his head slightly, as if intrigued by her response. “Case studies and simulations, you say? Interesting. Do you believe that law should always be followed to the letter? Or are there situations where bending the rules might be justified?”
Reika knew this was a test, and her answer could very well determine her future here. She considered her words carefully, leaning slightly forward. “I believe that the law is a framework that must be respected to maintain order. However, there are moments in life when absolute adherence to the law might not account for the complexity of human nature. As a teacher, I would encourage my students to understand the law deeply enough to recognize when it should be applied rigidly, and when a more flexible approach is necessary—always, of course, with the preservation of justice and integrity as their guiding principles.”
A quiet smile tugged at the corner of Yamaguchi’s lips. “A wise answer. The law does indeed demand both discipline and empathy, something that is not easily taught.”
He looked down at her résumé and the letters of recommendation, seemingly satisfied with the contents. “The Koriyama family’s endorsement is particularly impressive, given their deep ties to the Soul Society’s inner workings. I see that your work with the Tori family also reflects a history of discreet and effective teaching.”

Reika inclined her head gratefully. “I have always been passionate about what I teach, and I am honored to have earned the respect of those I’ve worked with.”
The headmaster leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the desk. “And if I were to hire you, what would you say is your greatest asset in teaching our future law enforcers?”
Reika smiled, allowing her confidence to shine through. “My ability to inspire respect for the law while encouraging critical thinking. I want my students to become not just enforcers of the law, but protectors of the very ideals that the Soul Society was built upon. They should not only understand the rules—they should understand why they exist and how to use them to build a better future.”
Headmaster Yamaguchi nodded, satisfied with her answers. "You may very well be the instructor we are looking for, Hitoshi-san."
Reika smiled, knowing her future at the Academy was bright.

Headmaster Yamaguchi paused for a moment, scanning Reika’s résumé and the letters of recommendation one last time before setting them down on his desk. He folded his hands in front of him, his expression calm but resolute.
"Hitoshi-san," he began, "I believe you will be a valuable asset to this academy. Your experience with the noble families, your approach to teaching law, and your understanding of its complexities have convinced me that you are well-suited for this position."
Reika’s heart fluttered, though she maintained her composure. She gave a respectful bow of her head, her voice steady though filled with appreciation. "Thank you, Headmaster Yamaguchi. I am honored by your decision."
Yamaguchi gave a small nod, a satisfied look in his eyes. “I expect great things from you, Hitoshi-san. Your first day at the Academy will be Monday, April 4th, at 6 AM sharp. Our students rise early, and as an instructor, you will need to set the example.”

“Of course, Headmaster. I’ll be there,” Reika assured him.“Additionally,” Yamaguchi continued, leaning slightly forward, “there is an upcoming meeting for all teachers and instructors next week. It will take place in the main hall of the Academy, on Thursday afternoon at 2 PM. This meeting will introduce you to the other faculty members, go over expectations, and discuss the new curriculum for the upcoming term. I trust you will be prepared.” Reika felt the weight of the responsibility, but she was also eager to start. “I’ll be ready.”The headmaster stood, signaling that the interview had come to an end. Reika rose from her seat and bowed deeply, showing the utmost respect. As she turned to leave, Yamaguchi’s voice called out one last time.“Welcome to the Academy, Hitoshi-san. I look forward to seeing the impact you’ll make here.” Reika left the office with her head held high, knowing that a new chapter of her life was about to begin. Teaching at the Academy of Soul Society, she would have the chance not only to shape the minds of future Soul Reapers but to instill within them a deep respect for the law that governed their world.
Her journey had led her here, and now, it was time to begin.~END RP~ “The Storm Within”
