Gin was quiet for a few minutes, soaking in the fleeting music of her laughter, trying not to aggravate the weight of that sigh. Finally, he continued their conversation. “I don’t think anyone is prepared for the way it knocks you over. Or disrupts the balance of your existence.” He smiled again. “But he did have a good family to keep him from turning to bloodshed. In spite of my blood and all that~”

Kita looked at him and smiled. "I just hope they can live an easier life than we had." A heavy sigh slipped from her. "If we can do away with Aizen, we all could have a better, happier life." She looked down to the floor.
"Sometimes I think this is just a bad dream I can't wake from or the universe just decided to pick some random human from the face of the planet and dump on them." She looked up and giggled despite the situation. "And I just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time when is it was picking its victim." She lowered her head as a frown pulled her smile downward and tears started to form. She wrung her hands in her lap.
"I do still love you Gin. I always will, and I am sorry I grew weak and gave up on us." She looked up at Gin as he moved toward her, her head shook. "But I love Seto, as much as I still and always have loved you. He makes me happy. Happier than I have been in a long time." She fell back to the bed and looked up at the ceiling. "I never lied to Seto either. He knows I still love you very much. His anger stems from believing I waist my love on you. That you never loved me and it was always just a game to you. He hates the fact that I gave my all for you. Someone to care about and you did nothing but play with me." She looked his way.
"Is what he says true? I thought I knew you better than that." She looked back to the ceiling. "But then again. Does anyone really know anyone in this web Aizen has spun around us?"

The first time he had managed to internalize the wounds from her voice, but when she raised her head to the ceiling and asked that question about Aizen, he failed. She spoke of a web that his former master had spun around them both. Her sweet lilting tone implied that maybe he had been using her or he had been caught too far in a ruse. That everything wasn’t enough.
And it hadn’t been.
Because she had left him. Had a son. And was with child. Again.
A jolt lashed through him as those words locked something inside him. He knew what but he didn’t care to name it. No. Not after everything. After the floods of salt, the waves of blood, and the tender pain of her voice. After tearing his promises upside down. Hanging himself to keep steady. Tripping and falling so far when his reality kept breaking and demanding more from him. Clinging to the warm wounds that came from the lessons she had carved into him. Wearing those scars as a talisman to ride the abyss. Letting himself reach out further…
“I thought at least someone did.”
At first, he didn’t realize he had spoken, but the strange tone echoed deep in his ear. It wasn’t the sneer he had used on her husband, and it wasn’t the dismissive scoff he had gladly used with the noble in the past. No, his voice was stale, toneless, meaningless. And his former love froze upon the bed, hand on her belly.
And as she started to rise, he leaned back against the doorway once more, a new grin forming on his face. She frowned.
“Damn it, Gin! I deserve to know.”
Her voice grated against the humming in his head. He pushed it back. Down.
“Why does it matter?” Gin wondered, riding her plaintive irritation with another distant question of his own. “You’re already full of doubt and you have what you wanted. You have your family. That should be enough.” He raised his head further, still needing to see her, the sliver of his eyes almost slate grey. They narrowed further at the tear tracks on her face from before. “It is enough.”
Before Kita had a chance to reply, he was gone.

Gin's actions, words and tone wash over her as she sat there there daunted, only a simple place in her mind where things festered. Why was she sitting there? In this room? On this bed? In a place she did not belong?
Was it true? Was everything Seto told her true? Everything Aizen told her true? Was she truly only a toy to Gin Ichimaru? Someone to get a son from so he could pass on his legacy of the Ichimaru bloodline. Was she really just a pet to him?
She lifted from the bed still daunted. A blank expression on her face, her eyes dry. No emotion showed. No emotion was felt as she walked slowly out the door Gin disappeared through, and to her knowledge, never to return. She walked to the main door of the small main room and exited it as well. She let her feet lead her until she was outside.
She continued to follow her feet out of the First division. How far she went or where she ended up before she stopped and looked up at the full moon, the dark sky filled with millions of stars, Kita did not know. She just knew the warmth she once felt inside her was gone, now filled with a cold emptiness she had not felt since she had lost her parents in death. She thought of nothing, and she felt nothing. Not even the chill of the autumn night air that sliced through her kimono effected her.
Hollow...
Hollow as the man she once called lover and the father of their son.

"Final Hours": Kita woke, even before the sun was peeking its bright rays of light across the horizon. Kadaj was still sleeping soundly as she walked out into the main room where she figured she would find Seto. He was not to be found. Not that it mattered, she was still going if he liked it or not. Their idea of drawing Aizen to them was not of the best of plans. It brought him to where he was not wanted, and would drew his army right along behind him. In not finding Seto she went back to the room and got ready for the adventure that was about to take place. Sumi in her mind telling her this was not a wise idea, but like always, Kita ignored her. That was until she lifted Kadaj off the bed. Resting him against her, his little head resting to her shoulder she called on the Goddess.
"Sumi, I need you to do something for me.""Write out your last Will and Testament?""Ha Ha! No. I want you to leave messages for Kisuke, Seto and Sojiro. Tell them where Kadaj is and what I have done, and they are not to attempt coming to get me. Do not wake them. Just leave it were they can and will see it when they wake." "You know I cannot inter--" "I know what you can and can not do for me Sumi. I am not a fool, and he will not capture me or Kenji. I can do this. We can do this. Kenji is strong like father and I have your powers. I know we will prevail here."Sumi sighed as she watched Kita turn with Kadaj in her arms and walk from the room. "I hope your right, Kita." She disappeared as Kita opened the gate going to retrieve her brother then off to the Kurosaki's to leave Kadaj in a safe zone."Everything will be alright." Kita told her with a smile before the gate closed around her and Kadaj.

"Aizen's Last Revenge":
Kita was in the kitchen with her two boys chatting and giggling as she fixed breakfast for the group. The only ones missing were Yumiko and her daughter, Shina. It was still early as the sun hung low in the morning sky. Giving Kita a little over an hour before Sojiro had to leave for the Academy. So she was not really rushing, but she wanted to make sure he got a good meal before he left for the day.
Turning from the stove she looked over her shoulder at her two sons. Kadaj now sitting on Sojiro's lap as they played with a couple of his toys. She smiled brightly as her smile turned to a frown and hot tears stung her eyes. She wished Vale were here. She missed him so much. Hearing Kadaj giggle as Sojiro pretended to be a monster, Kita quickly dried her tears and pulled herself together. She did not want her boys seeing her cry. She had to be strong. For their sake. In time karma would catch up to the ones that did this, and when it did she would be the one dealing the final blow. When the eggs were finished she lifted the pan from the stove and dumped them onto the serving plate.
She turned seeing Sojiro and Kadaj setting the table with the needed things for breakfast. She smiled at them both. "Thank you, that was very sweet of you."

Sojiro smiled back. “It’s the least we can do when you’re making the food.” He set the cups in his brother’s hands onto the table by the plates and laughed as Kadaj whirled around to get the silverware before him. “Slow down, Daj. It’s not a race, and you're going to fall over.”
“Not. And I help Mommy more,” Kadaj retorted pulling out the drawer with the silverware and grabbing a handful.
Sojiro’s smile grew as his mother giggled and helped her youngest son set them in the right place.
Sojiro shook his head with another laugh at the innocence in his tiny brother now, just a day after his adult transformation had nearly taken over. It just further proved to him that Kadaj didn't mean to hurt anyone yesterday. Just like usual, he wanted to 'fix it'. That was more than enough for Sojiro. Still amused, he turned around as one of the guest doors opened. “Morning," he called out. "Breakfast’s nearly read-”
He halted at the expression on his aunt’s face.

Yumiko’s eyes darted from one person to another, but it wasn’t a trick. Kita wasn’t holding Shina and neither was Sojiro. His hands were full lifting his brother into his seat. But Ukitake had spent the evening as well. Quelling the surge of unease in her, she walked over to Kita.
“It looks delicious. I’ll just check on Shina and Ukitake and then join you guys.” She chuckled quietly. “Sorry to worry you. I’m over-reacting because it is the first time I’ve woken without her.” She kissed Kadaj’s cheek and moved towards Ukitake’s door.
Sojiro called out to her before she got too far. “But Take-jii left earlier with Kisuke….and Shina... ”
Yumiko turned around. “What about Shina, Sojiro?” Yumiko pressed. She bit her lip, stunned at the bite in her tone, and took a breath. “Sorry, but she’s not in my room, so where is my little girl?”
She didn’t wait for Sojiro to respond but looked to Kita again. “She’s sleeping in your room, right? Thanks for letting me sleep in, but you needed your sleep too.”

Kita walked toward Yumiko, her expression blank as she took Yumiko's hands in hers. "She is not in my room either Yumiko."
Yumiko's face turned white as all the blood rushed out of her face an odd smile drew across her lips as she chuckled nervously. "Ha ha Kita. So where is she? Did she learn how to walk and run away?" Yumiko looked quickly around the room, then back to Kita.
Kita could see the tears starting to build in Yumiko's eyes, the worry building on her face. She tightened her hold on Yumiko's hands giving her a supportive grip. "Shina..." Kita cast her eyes down shaking her head. "The Eva babies, the Gods coming. All of it." A tear rolled down Kita's cheek. "It was one of Aizen's illusions."
Within seconds of Kita telling her friend this Yumiko withered in front of her. Kita catching her before she hit the floor. "Sojiro, get me a cool towel." She told her eldest as she took Yumiko over to the couch to lay her down.

Yumiko closed her eyes and turned away, willing the new nightmare away for a few throbbing heartbeats. But it wouldn’t fade and reality pressed in on her. She vaguely knew she wasn’t asleep. Jolting as the cool cloth pressed against her forehead, she sat up and pushed it back.
Someone tried to speak to her, but all she heard was the buzzing.
Again.
Biting her lip until she tasted blood, she reached for her zanpakuto’s hilt, flinching as if slapped a moment later as her friend’s earlier words and Mizue conveyed the truth she had in her searing warmth. What had been there since it had first started.
But why hadn’t she seen it? She’d sensed it before. She’d fought this control from him before.
But Yumiko knew the answer as soon as she started asking it. She clasped her opposite hand against her forehead and then her mouth, trying to strangle the whimper caught in her throat. Someone wrapped their arms around her, and she turned away, moisture sliding down her cheek. Before, she had been in so much pain. Before the ‘God’ had come to her to ease her heart. Bewildered, weary, scared, and lost, she’d retreated from everyone in hopes of turning it all off. To find the neutrality she had escaped into during her sealing. Her own enforced distance and agony had let another illusion snare her.
Another dream from him.
“Damn you, Sousuke…” Yumiko swallowed past the acidic pool in her mouth and tried to stand. Swaying on the spot, someone held onto her. She closed her eyes. It hurt.
She shook her head again, trying to clear it.

"Yumiko, please sit down." Kita requested of her. After a couple more tries she was finally able to get her to sit down on the couch once more. "Yumiko..." Kita started. "Yumiko, look at me." Her blank eyes turned and faced her. Kita sighed, he was gone, but still that bastard got the last laugh. He got a final blow on their society.
"Listen to me, please. I know this is hard and I know what I am about to say will seem cold and heartless, but its the truth no matter how you look at it." Kita took a deep breath and steadied her own shaking hands.
"It was not real. I know it felt real. I know all the emotions where there, but it was forced. Everything you felt everything you lived through from the time you conceived to this very moment was an illusion, and even though it was." Kita paused as her hand lifted and she brushed a few stray strands of hair out of Yumiko's face and gave her a warm smile. Yumiko only looking away from her.
Kita sighed but she pressed on. "No matter how heartbreaking this moment is. It reminded you and taught you something you had forgotten." She paused as Yumiko looked to her again. "Shina reminded you that there is still good in this world. She taught you how to open your heart again, how to trust," she smiled at Yumiko once more. "Shina gave you back your smile and your life. And even though she was an illusion. The next one won't be, and the next one will be created with the man you love and have wed."
"I know this hurts. I know you want to withdraw again, but you can't. Aizen is dead. We have a chance to finally live free and without fear. To make families and live happy for once. Don't let his end game be the one that finally wins the war and destroys you. Don't let him win."

Yumiko nodded slowly as Kita’s words washed over. “I’m not- going. anywhere,” she muttered quietly. She chuckled shortly, more tears falling down her cheeks to her chin. She wiped one line away. “I don’t even… want to let him even get this far… in hurting me, but I- I can’t help it.”
She closed her eyes again. No, she wasn’t going to let the loss of little, innocent, warm Shina break her after everything she had given her. And she had stayed to support Kita, not fall apart on her. She sighed, trying to push the ache back.
“I left and I escaped. This… it won’t change that. I’ve gained too much…” She set her hand on her stomach, trying to ease the pain. “It was such a short time… but you're right. She did so much. And yet, it’s hard not to resent that. I fell into another ‘dream’ of his and still need a sliver of it after the fact.”
She set her head against her hand. “I’m sorry, Kita. This wasn’t … what I came here for.”

Kita gave Yumiko a tight hug, "It's alright, Yumiko. I was as shocked as you when Sumi told me what happened." She shook her head as the two parted from the embrace. "I knew something bad had happened when Kisuke came and got Juushiro earlier, but for the life of me I did not expect it to be this. Aizen is a cruel man, far worse than I believed him to be."
She grew silent her head lowering. "The only reason I can think of as of why he went this far was because he was planning on releasing the demons from Hell. With the hope of something like the Eva to protect Soul Society, it gave hope to everyone." She fell silent again and looked up at her friend. "Just think how devastated everyone would have been when he would have dropped the illusion as the demons attacked. All hope would be lost and he would have taken over again."

Yumiko nodded, her eyes guarded as she considered the twisted truth. And the fact that it might be enough to break everyone’s spirit, which would make it a final victory. Or at least, a much longer one. She stood up, nausea knotting her stomach and leaning on Kita. She didn’t want to dwell on that future anymore.
It was over.
“Let’s eat breakfast,” she murmured.
She’d lost enough to that man. She wasn’t going to let him regain a hold on her.
At that moment, Kadaj barreled into them both, arms wrapping around their legs. “No sad! I fis it!”
Yumiko smiled, tears in her eyes, as Kita lifted her youngest and hugged him tight. She ruffled his hair. “It’s okay. You fixed it.”

Sojiro smiled as his brother and mother hugged Yumiko again. His aunt was still pale but she wore a small smile. He decided to join in. “I think breakfast’s a good idea. Eggs are better warm, even if we eat them as a sandwich.” The toaster beeped and he turned to the kitchen. Covering both of the slices lightly with butter, he set the toast on top of the slices already on the plate. “Toast is done, too.”
