He walked over to her bookshelf as he let a finger draw a trail down the spines of the long assortment of fine books she had gathered over the centuries. “So you are planning to remain part of the problem instead of helping eliminate the problem?”
He turned from the books and looked at her his hand still lifted touching the books. “You do know the birth of the Evas will only improve the chances in the survival of your kind and your realm? Ignoring it makes his death in vain.”

Nanao’s eyes snapped and she shoved her glasses up again. “Don’t say that, Lord Ara. There are many other women who could give you a child. I …” She threaded her hands together. Tightly. “I am already busy keeping the Gotei together after its loss.”
She turned her head, brushing a lock of hair out of her eyes. And I was saving myself for him. Even after….
She looked back at the God and bowed again. “I apologize but I don’t even have noble blood or a Bankai. There are others who do.”

“What makes you think it matters if you are a Noble, have your Bankai, or otherwise?” He turned back to the books. “To some it might, but I am not some.” His hand dropped and he turned fully to face her.
“I chose you for the man you loved. I would think you of all people would have to see an end to the man that did this to not only him, but many more that live in this realm.” He looked around the room. “And you said you were saving yourself for him.” He looked back at her. “There is no more him. Why not create a child that will bring justice to that fact? Make the one that did this pay for what they did to you and the man you love.”

Nanao’s eyes narrowed again and then she abruptly turned, hiding her tears. “How do I even know that my child would be able to? Or that I would want my chid to get mixed up in this? You didn’t save him. After everything he did. You didn’t.” Her shoulders shook as tears dotted the books in front of her. She quickly wiped them off and raised her sleeve, trying to calm down. “That means you won’t save her. If something happens.”

Ara walked up behind the sobbing woman, his hand resting gently to her shoulder. "You are mixed up in this. Are you saying you would be a hypocrite and forbid your child to fight and protect the very place you call home?"
His head shook. "As for saving him. The cycle of life is not a generous thing. We live, we die. Only one can control that cycle. I, nor any of the other Gods can do such a thing." He turned her to look at him as he dried her falling tears, his fingertips gently sliding under her chin lifting her head to look into his eyes.
"Your child, like the other few that will be joining them in this fight, will not need to be worried over like most. They will be half God."

Nanao looked into his jade green eyes and tried to keep her reasoning analytical. Simple. But it didn’t work that way this time.
“They would still be mine and there’s still that bastard Aizen and his lackeys out there,” she muttered bitterly. Damn it, she’d promised she wouldn’t cry so much over him. He’d gone. He’d left her. It would only make her hurt more. She furiously shook her head, not letting the tears form again.
Taking her glasses off, she let herself continue. “Though you’re right. If my child wanted to fight ... I wouldn’t stop them. It would be better to fight when you have something to protect than to start … when it’s gone.”
She looked to an old, thick book of stories lying on its side on a shelf above her personal desk. Closed her eyes. And then looked to the God again. She tried to keep her voice steady. "What you ask," she whispered, "isn't easy right now." She lifted her head higher. "Can I ask a favor in return?"

Ara cocked his head looking at the woman with amazement from her request. “This is rather odd.” He turned away from her and looked out the window that still stood open. As he stood there in thought, his curiosity crested at her request of a favor.
He turned and looked at her once more. “I am limited. So tell me. What is it you request, Ise? Then and only then, will I know if it is allowed.”

"I understand," Nanao stated. "The request is in regards to the Gotei -- and my zanpakuto." She pulled out the short blade from her arm sheath. "She is a fickle spirit and only releases her power when my reiatsu is low. But in order to help the Gotei further, at this time, I need my Bankai. I always thought that would be a dangerous venture, considering the requirements of the first release, and he agreed with me." She returned her blade to her sleeve.
"I will give you a child ... but there has to be a reason why he was taken and I was left behind. I have to get stronger. But I don't want to die trying."
She turned away, her courage wavering in asking this, and bit her lip, eyes narrowing at herself. "Is it possible for me to reach my Bankai or should I focus on exploring Kido further? Can I know that?"

Ara nodded slowly. "No, only at the cost of your life could you achieve Bankai; alone." The woman looked at him with a confused look.
"What do you mean? Alone? I am the only one that can achieve my Bankai, no one can assist me in this feat."
Ara smiled, "There are three that can protect you while trying to achieve this goal. Pick one and have them at your side while doing this so they can regenerate your reiatsu, helping you sustain your life force. However, once you have obtained your Bankai. If you attempt to use your Bankai without one of them at your side." He paused and looked into her eyes. He need not say more, for she knew her fate if she ever tried this alone.

Nanao nodded. “Thank you, Lord Ara.” She smiled. For the first time in a while, she felt hopeful. “I think I know what I have to do then, but first,” she folded her glasses and reached over to set them on her desk, “I will-”
They slipped from her hands, and she realized she was trembling again.
She knelt down to retrieve them, closing her eyes and trying to beat more weakness back. “I will make a child…” She picked her spectacles up and stood once more. Her violet eyes shining but shoulders back. “A daughter. He always wanted a daughter.” She dabbed at her eyes.
Nanao turned around to face her partner. “The clan would have wanted a son, but he wanted someone he could spoil.” She looked into the god’s eyes for a moment and then back down at her hands, folding them together tightly. It should be him.
“I’m sorry. I’ll stop crying in a minute.”

“Would it be easier,” he stepped up to the woman clad in his robes of white and green as they slowly faded to a soul reapers uniform of black and white. His dainty hand reached out for her as it turned calloused and masculine. His alto voice went baritone, but smooth like velvet. His long flowing hair of white shortened turning a dusty brown and his jade green eyes a soft chocolate brown. “If I were here?” She was speechless as she looked into his eyes. The god had transformed into the man she loved, Shunsui Kyouraku, to help slow the tears and ease her pain of grief. He cupped her cheek, lifting her head as he pressed his warm tender lips to hers. Parting slightly from the kiss he spoke to her in a whisper only she could hear.“I love you, Nanao Ise. Even in death...I will always love you.” He pressed his lips to hers again gathering her in his arms as he sweep her from her feet, carrying her to her bedroom. There he granted her the daughter she and her lover only dreamed of. --END RP-- "Denial":
