Whisper's eyes widened in surprise as the tree hurtled towards her, its massive trunk crashing down with a deafening roar. She barely managed to leap aside, the force of the impact sending shockwaves through the ground beneath her. Her playful demeanor crumbled, replaced by a sharp irritation.
"You kids are more trouble than you're worth," she muttered under her breath, her eyes flicking between Sojiro, Evita, and the now injured Gin. The sight of Gin leaning to one side, clearly wounded, only added to her growing frustration. She couldn’t afford distractions, especially not when Starrk’s intentions remained so unclear.
She turned her gaze to Starrk, her confusion evident. "Have you forgotten our mission? Or are you really going to throw it all away for them?"
Starrk remained silent, his expression inscrutable. This only fueled her irritation further. Whisper’s fiery blue eyes narrowed as she shifted her focus back to Sojiro and Evita. "No matter," she said, her voice cold and determined. "If you want to play hero, fine. But I won't be held back."
Her fire crackled with energy, weaving through the air as she prepared to strike. "Sojiro, Evita," she called out mockingly, "you think you can stop me? Protect your precious school and your friends? Let's see what you're really made of."
The air around her seemed to shimmer with heat as her power surged. Whisper advanced with calculated steps, each movement precise and deadly. She could see the determination in Sojiro's eyes, the resolve in Evita's stance, and it only made her more eager to test their limits.
"You might have family on your side," she taunted, glancing at Gin, "but even he can't save you now."
With a flick of her wrist, she sent a wave of fire towards the siblings, aiming to entangle and immobilize them. Whisper’s mind raced, a mix of strategy and raw emotion driving her actions. She would find out where Starrk's loyalty lay, and she would crush anyone who stood in her way.

Gin’s eyes narrowed as Whisper’s reiryoku rose up, the flame flickering all around them. Stark remained quietly to the side. Even the kids seemed focused on the Whisper. Gin didn’t know what had happened before he arrived, but he didn’t like Whisper’s mood. She was more dangerous when angry.
And she was not someone he could just rush into a battle with, not with his current wounds or the children behind him.
Or Stark watching and deciding whether to join or not.
The snake bared his teeth in a bloody grin of warning. “Are you sure it’s smart to focus on them when I am right here?” Shinsou’s edge glinted off her shimmering flames. “I’m still as fast as before.”
“And you’re just standing there, all bloodied up. If you’re going to fight me, do it.” She snapped her fingers and more flame appeared.
However, Gin’s retort failed as Kita’s reiatsu soared upwards! Sojiro called out and Daichi chittered. Gin disappeared, his reiatsu with him, and appeared almost instantaneously, seizing her wrist. “Get away from them.” Shinsou stabbed into her.
He had no time for this!

Whisper's breath hitched as Gin's blade, Shinsou, sliced through her defenses, drawing blood and causing her reiatsu to falter momentarily. Pain shot through her, but she refused to let it show, her fiery blue eyes narrowing in defiance.
She wrenched her wrist free from Gin's grasp, the flames of reiatsu around her flaring with renewed intensity. "You're quick, Snake," she hissed, her voice laced with a mixture of frustration and admiration. "But speed alone won't save you from what's coming."
With a sudden burst of energy, Whisper spun away from Gin, putting distance between them. Her hand pressed against the wound inflicted by Shinsou, the flames around her pulsing erratically as she assessed her options. Stark's presence loomed in the background, a silent reminder of the precarious balance of power in this confrontation.
"You're all alike," she muttered, her gaze flickering between Gin, Sojiro, and Evita. "Thinking you can protect them all. But you forget one thing." She smirked, a dangerous glint in her eyes. "I'm not alone either."
Her reiatsu surged, gathering around her like a storm ready to break. "Let's see if you can keep up," she challenged, her stance shifting into one of readiness. Whisper knew she couldn't afford to underestimate Gin or the determination of those he protected. This battle was far from over, and she was prepared to fight until the bitter end. She let her flames dance around her as her wound healed quickly, then sent a vortex of fire rushing toward the kids.
"Are you fast enough, Snake?!" Whisper laughed.

Gin’s ire only rose further as the Espada defied him as the Quinta had — when Kita’s reiatsu was spilling all over the place. He needed to get to her, but he couldn’t leave the kids to her torment. His grip on Shinsou shifted. He’d have no place at her side if he abandoned them now. There was only one course of action, no matter the turmoil inside him. And he already knew it.
“You forget, pixie,” Gin snapped, “who had the pleasure of being your king’s right hand before you arrived.” He leapt forward at the ball, ignoring his son’s cries. “I have all the speed I need,” he hissed, eyes focusing on the raging ball coming his way. He stood in front of it. “Bankai, Buto Renjin.”
The ball of flames exploded in a flash at the same time as Gin's reiatsu erupted, blinding the viewers. Numerous windows in the school and nearby buildings shattered instantaneously. When flare faded, Gin stood there, kimono smoldering and several burns along his arms but otherwise unharmed. Blackened cinders fell around him.
Shinsou glinted as he lifted it towards her again. “Shall we consider, Fiery, how many years I’ve been in contact with your kind and how many years I’ve waited for revenge? I had plenty of time to consider how to snuff out your blaze. I just didn't need to. However, do that again now and you’ll die.”

Starrk watched the scene unfold with a detached curiosity, his eyes flicking between Whisper and Gin as tensions escalated. He could feel the turmoil within Gin, the conflict of duty and personal desire evident in his every move. Starrk remained silent, observing, ready to intervene if necessary, and then Whispers window opened wide. The Goddess' reiatsu vanished. One would have thought Gin was frozen in time.
Whisper saw her opening and reacted quickly, she sonido'ed behind the kids and grabbed hold of the young Ichimaru. "It seems mommy has left town." She whispered in the boy's ear.
Sojiro's eyes narrowed. “Get off me!” he hissed, clenching his free hand. He tried to stop time again but failed as his heart raced in his head.
"I could never," Whisper chuckled, "I finally got you where I want you." Her free hand engulfed in flames, appeared in front of Sojiro. "Let's see how loud you can scream for me. Shall we?"
"Giver her what she wants boy," Starrk told Sojiro, his eyes glancing to the Snake that still seemed to be stuck in time.

It’s all my fault. It’s all my fault that Mom’s gone again.
Evita grimaced as Sojiro’s cry echoed in her head, her hands shaking as that voice overlapped with a memory she had tried to bury over and over again. Her ditzy beautiful mother trying to pull her behind the mattress, standing with her ingrained defiance, and the bloody pool spreading out after. Her ear throbbed and as Sojiro hissed in pain, Evita’s eyes turned black.
Her voice echoed out in a low menacing warning.
“Get. Away.”
Evita’s energy soared as all of her physical threads condensed into one long whip that immediately lashed towards Whisper and her victim. More threads appeared and wrapped around Sojiro's free wrist, while others spread out. Reaching.
"He's mine."

Whisper chuckled as she hung tightly to Sojiro's arm, "Wow! Your cousin is a greedy one." A smirk drew across her face as she looked at the young Aizen. "Selfish much, or just jealous?"
"Shut up," she muttered, eyes pools of darkness.
Fight.
Sojiro winced at the volume and pull in his head as Evita called out to him, breaking him from his shell shock. He clenched his hand. But before he could react, a long whip and Shinsou's edge soared at them. Whisper moved away and the connection broke.
"Get your hands off my son, Phoenix Whisper!" Gin snarled.
Whisper's smirk widened, her eyes flicking to Gin. "Protective, aren't we?" she mocked. "But I suppose that’s to be expected from a father." She released Sojiro, stepping back with a flourish, her flames dancing around her. "It’s almost touching, really."
She turned her gaze to Evita, her expression turning serious. "You’ve got a lot of power, kid. But power without control is just chaos. You need to decide what you want to be—someone who protects or someone who destroys."

Evita tilted her head before wrapping her threads around Sojiro’s arm again, pulling him upright.
Sojiro stumbled a bit and wrapped his hand around his burnt arm. “Thanks,” he huffed. His eyes narrowed as the threads tightened, causing him to wince. “Evita?” Something tugged at his mind again.
Gin glowered at the two espada as his son flinched again, instinct telling him to shunpo away when the wound whip rushed his way next. “Now what is going on?” he snapped.
“Fight…” Evita lisped. The threads continued to dig into Sojiro's skin.

“Where is that damn ferret?!”
“I don’t know…” Sojiro hissed as the pressure in his head grew. It was like her power was pushing against a physical barrier. “Evita, wake up!” He pulled at his arm only for her to yank back. This time, blood spurted on his arm. She'd cut past the skin. "Ow, damn...." He stopped again.
Shinsou's steel sang past him only to ring off the threads that unraveled from it on contact. "Dad, don't!"
"I'm not going to kill her," Gin snapped, "but at this rate, she's going to take your arm." He appeared by his son's side, grabbing a fistful of the threads, blood slipping past his clenched fist. "She's not in her right mind!"
Soji panicked. "Don't be stupid and let go, Dad!"
Gin narrowed his eyes. "I'll be fine. This needs to end."
Fight...
Sojiro groaned, shaking his head. "Get out of my head, Evita Kurosaki! I can fight on my own!" Something clicked inside him and he drew the asauchi at his hip, hissing as something fizzled up his arm, still stinging from Whisper's burn.
A kodachi with a dark silver and braided blue hilt greeted him. So you're done hiding? an old, deep voice yawned.
Sojiro blinked.

Whisper seized the opportunity, her eyes narrowing as she prepared to counter-attack. Her flames roared back to life, surrounding her with an intense heat that distorted the air around her.
"Enough of this!" she spat, launching forward with a burst of speed. She targeted Gin, aiming to break his hold on Evita's threads and turn the tide in her favor. Her hands ignited with flames as she swung at Gin, her movements a blur of fiery aggression.
Gin reacted swiftly, raising Shinsou to intercept her attack. The two forces collided in a burst of sparks and flames, the sheer intensity of their clash sending shockwaves through the air.
Whisper pushed harder, her flames licking at Gin's arms as she tried to overpower him. "You think you can protect them all?" she taunted, her voice dripping with disdain. "You're only delaying the inevitable!"
Sojiro gritted his teeth, his grip tightening on his sword. He felt the power of his zanpakuto surge through him, and with a determined shout, he joined the fray. He swung his blade at Whisper, the dark silver steel cutting through the air with precision.
Whisper barely managed to deflect Sojiro's attack, her eyes widening in surprise at the newfound strength behind his strike. She hissed in frustration, realizing that the situation was slipping out of her control. She leaped back, putting some distance between her and the trio.
"Impressive," she admitted, her voice begrudgingly respectful. "But this isn't over. Not by a long shot." She gathered her flames around her, preparing for another assault. "Let's see if you can keep up!"
As Whisper launched her next attack, Sojiro and Gin braced themselves, Evita's threads still wrapped around them, but ready to face her fiery onslaught.

"Get away from them!" Ichigo's voice roared with a hollow warble, causing Whisper to spin to face him.
Ichigo flew towards her, his skin slightly paler and his orange hair long in the back. A black stripe ran down the left side of his face and chest. Also from the left side of his face sprouted a long pointed hollow horn. His left eye had the characteristic black and yellow hollow coloring. His eyes went blank and he let out an earsplitting roar as a black and red ball of energy formed from his horn. He held up the larger Zangetsu blade and took aim at Whisper.
"Gran Rey Cero!" Ichigo howled as the Cero form his horn merged with the energy of Zangetsu, forming a violet crescent moon of energy that sliced through the air towards the Espada. The blast ripped up the concrete as it charged toward her, crackling through the air in a loud roar.

Starrk sighed, watching the escalating battle with growing irritation. "Why do I always end up having to save your ass, Whisper?" he muttered to himself, rubbing the back of his neck as he observed Ichigo's joining the fray.
Whisper's eyes widened in shock, the sheer power of Ichigo's attack catching her off guard. She barely had time to react before the devastating energy was upon her. Just as the blast was about to connect, Starrk appeared in a blur, grabbing Whisper by the arm and pulling her out of the path of destruction.
"Enough of this," Starrk grumbled, his annoyance palpable. He glared at Whisper, who looked momentarily dazed by the rapid turn of events. "We’re getting out of here. Now."
Whisper opened her mouth to protest, but Starrk cut her off with a sharp look. "You’re lucky I’m in the mood to play the hero today," he snapped, his voice dripping with frustration. "You got what you wanted."
Ichigo's attack continued to tear through the school's courtyard, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Starrk turned his attention back to Ichigo, his expression hardening. "You’ve made your point, Ichigo. We’re retreating."
Without waiting for a response, Starrk summoned a Garganta, the black gate parting the sky like teeth, sliding open one panel at a time behind him. He pushed Whisper towards it, his grip firm and unyielding. "Move it, Whisper."
Whisper scowled but didn't resist, knowing better than to argue with Starrk when he was in this mood. She glanced back at Gin and the kids one last time, a mixture of anger and frustration in her eyes. "This isn’t over," she promised, her voice low and dangerous.
"Yeah, yeah, save it for another day," Starrk muttered, rolling his eyes. He turned to face Ichigo one last time. "Consider this a temporary reprieve. We’ll be back."
With that, Starrk stepped through the Garganta, dragging Whisper with him. The gate closed behind them, repairing the split in the sky seamlessly, leaving the courtyard eerily silent in the aftermath of the battle. Gin, Sojiro, Evita, and Ichigo were left to regroup and recover, knowing that the reprieve was only temporary and that the real fight was far from over.

Gin’s eyes narrowed but failed to make his own vow when the iron threads from Evita suddenly drooped and then disappeared, Sojiro swaying as they did so. He caught his son by the shoulder as Ichigo shunpo’ed down to catch Evita, who seemed out cold. “Ow…” Sojiro muttered, “my head is killing me.” He stood up, still visibly shaking. “I’m okay…” “What happened?” Ichigo demanded. “I’m not sure,” Sojiro murmured. “Whisper burned me, and then Evita grabbed me with her threads- Wait! Mom! Is she okay?” Gin’s heart twisted as his son looked over to him, blood running down his arm. “She will be,” he vowed. He grabbed his son’s forearm and looked to Ichigo. “Shop first.”
The substitute nodded and the group left the area. - END RP - “Setting the Pace”
