"Where Did I Go?":
Kita walked down the hall of the Fifth tower, her mind wandering back, back to decades before the hell of Las Noches. The torment of Aizen and the heartbreak of watching her and Gin love and life fall apart before her very eyes.
---
Kita took the cell phone from Tsukiro and nodded. "I will go home and stay there until I hear from you." She hugged Tsukiro tightly her whole body shaking. "I'm scared." She whispered softly to him tears sting at her eyes once more.
Tsukiro held onto her tightly. "I know, Kita. I am too. But we'll get through this. You're not alone. You showed me that last time. Now it's my turn to show you." He pulled back just enough to gingerly kiss her. He looked into her eyes and said, "You'll be okay. I promise. None of us will let anything bad happen to you. Remember that, okay?"
Gin patted her head. "It's a good thing to be scared. Shows that you have something to fight for." He stood also. "It makes you stronger. I'll walk you home, Kita, if you'd like -- that is, unless you want ta be alone~" he teased quietly and winked.
Kita nodded to Gin. "I would like to have company. Please. I really don't want to be alone. Not right now."
Tsukiro petted Kita's hair. "I would walk with you, but I have to get back to Soul Society before my squad starts to wonder where I am. I'll come and check on you later if I can."
"I don't mind keeping ya company," Gin reassured her. He grinned, mischief twinkling in his eyes, and wrapped his arms around Kita from behind. "I could even watch over you as you sleep, you know," he whispered, waiting for her lover to react.
Tsukiro glared at Ichimaru. "I may have no qualms with you, but that doesn't mean I completely trust you either. You will do nothing of the sort. Just walk her home and leave it at that."
Gin chuckled and waved his hand. "Alright, alright, I'll do as told," he grinned, "like a good person." He let Kita go and gave her a gentle push towards Tsukiro. "I'll wait outside while you say yer goodbyes," he said with another wave.
Kita giggled softly and wrapper her arms around Tsukiro and gave him a kiss. "I will be alright. Gin is only picking on you. You have to remember..." She looked to Gin and smiled. "His heart belong to another."
At those words, Gin paused in the doorway before disappearing into the sunlight.
Kita stood in the room as Tsukiro smiled then lightly kissed her cheek. He then disappeared from their sight off to the soul society he went. Kita's looked turned to Gin and became serious. "I want answers, Gin. Please say you will tell me everything I ask of you? If it is too personal or too involved I won't make you answer it, but I don't want to be lost or sacred any longer. Please help me."
Gin was silent for a long moment, silver hair shining in the sunlight. "If that will set you free," he replied with his head still upturned to the sky above.
Walking toward him she took his hand in hers and walked farther out on to the stoop and sat down on the stairs pulling downward next to her to sit down. "I don't know if it will set me free. But I think it will alleviate some of my fears in all this." She sighed and looked out across the small yard in the front of the shop. "Who is this Aizen character and what is he trying to do?"
Gin chuckled. "Easy enough questions," he stated. He sat down as requested and set his chin in his hand again. "Aizen-san is a power-hungry soul reaper, who will cut away anything in his way, and he wants to rule above all."
"Above all?" Kita looked back to Gin. "As in he wants to be God himself? But... if he is as ruthless as everyone says that would be..."
"Not good," he nodded. "That's why people don't want ya getting in his hands."
Kita nodded, "here is another easy one I hope." She looked to him again. "What is a soul reaper, a hollow and an espada? You all talk about a place called the soul society. Is that a community of soul reapers? And what of this Gotei 13?"
"Again, easy questions," Gin responded. Looking out over the yard, he held out a hand, lifting a hand up. "A soul reaper purifies souls, a hollow eats souls, and an espada is a high-ranking hollow in Aizen's army, which has a humanoid form, also called an arrancar." He lowered three fingers. "Soul Society is where cleansed souls go to, kind of an afterlife, I guess. Gotei 13 is the army of that realm, both protectors and enforcers. All of those on the list were once human but they're no longer." He made a fist and glanced at her. "Make sense?" he asked.
Kita nodded, "yeah. So you were a captain up there and walked away from it all for the love of a girl?" A huge smile crossed her face as she looked away from him. "See you are a good guy. I don't know one bad guy that would do that for love." She fidgeted with her feet shifting them around under her as she rested her elbows to her knees and leaned over propping her chin into her closed hands. "So what did you do to make everyone here mistrust you so much? Besides join Aizen in his endeavors?" She turned slightly looking at him. "Did you kill anyone?"
Gin chuckled and tilted his head her way. "Do you really want to know the answer to that one, dearie?" he asked quietly. "You might change yer mind about me." He turned back to the yard. "I warned ya before. I ain't the nicest fella around."
Kita lifted from her resting position and looked at Gin with a wide smile. "I know you're no angel, my dear friend. And I am sure... No. I know you have secrets. Ones you will never share, not with me, nor the woman you love. But I want to know what you are willing to tell me. Its not going to change my mind either way. Once my heart and mind are settled on something or someone its stuck. So I think I can safely say my friendship with you is there to stay until the day I die." She smiled softly at him. "At least as long as you will have me there."
---
She wiped away a falling tear with a sniffle. Was that all she was left with? His friendship. Has she lost the love she held so dear to her. The only man that protected her with his life, love her like there was no end to the feeling or emotion that filled their hearts, mind and soul. She sniffled again wiping away another tear. She rounded a corner looking down the hall at the door to her old room...
Suddenly her feet stopped moving as she looked down the hall. Blinking a few times she turned and looked behind her. She turned again getting her feet tangled in the sheet around her almost falling. Catching herself she looked down. A sheet? Why was she wrapped in a sheet? And why was she standing in the hall of the Fifth tower?
Her hand drew to her head as she thought back to the last thing she remembered. After a second she looked quickly back up.
"Koga! I remember him coming to me and telling me the news of being pregnant." She looked around the hall again, "but why would I be in the Fifth tower in a bed sheet? And where is Vale?" She rubbed her forehead with her fingertips going into thought again. She sighed when she could not think of a logical reason for this. At that she dropped her hand to her side, turned and headed back to the Third tower where she was now staying with Vale.
