"Fighting!" howled Sajin. "Is what got your mother back!" Shunsui turned around quickly, his chest out as if he was ready to defend himself against his father. "Fighting earns the peace that we all deserve."
"Peace is not rewarded from fighting!" Shunsui swung at his father, pushing against his leg. "Kyo-jii says that peace comes from showing that evil will never triumph over good. If we can do that without fighting, then I will!"
"That's not how this world works, Shunsui. There will always be a reason to fight. Be it to defend or to take. For me, my reason will always be to defend. To defend you, your mother and your brother. To defend everyone in the Gotei 13."

"Then...Why did you take so long to get her?" Sakuma huffed but spoke softly. His golden eyes narrowed at his father. Growling a bit, Sakuma raised his wooden blade toward his father. "I don't question you love for her. But, if you really did love her...Why didn't you get her sooner?!"
Sakuma ran toward his father before disappearing in a flash of shunpo. When he reappeared, he landed on his back. He sprung up in a huff, unsure of what had happened.

Sajin laughed as he son slid across the garden. "Well, isn't that interesting?"
"It's not funny!" growled Sakuma, picking himself up and dusting off. "Stop laughing."
"It was sort of funny." smiled Ryo from the doorway of their home. "It's also called a shunpo."
"It's still not funny!"
"Alright." said Sajin. "Enough. Try again."

"I've got a better idea..." Ryo walked down the few stairs that led to the garden. Her hand tightened around her sheathed blade. She walked over to Sakuma and dusted him off. "Would the two of you like to see how much stronger I am than your father?"
"That is a bold statement, Ryo Komamura."
A sly smile slid across her lips. "But, a true one."

A toothy grin tugged on Sajin's lips as he turned to face his wife. "Are you suggesting that we spar? If so, this will be short, my dear.""Something I am very used to with you, love." Sajin grunted, dropping the wooden blade to the ground. His hand rested on the hilt of his blade. "Quips will not grant you any leniency. And, I do believe this is long overdue. So, why don't we move to a place that we won't mind destroyed."Moved

"Sons' Choices":Ryo walked out into the garden, smiling at the sight of all of her boys. Sajin was directing the twins in their daily sparring exercises, while Saburou rested on the top of his head. Saburou kicked his little legs as his arms hung at the sides of Sajin's head. Sajin leaned forward, causing Saburou to fall off his head and into his lap with a giggle. Holding the child upside down by his leg, Sajin growled playfully at him. "Mommy!" shouted Saburou. "Bad Woof! Bad Woof!" Ryo laughed as she walked over to her son. "I don't think Woof is going to eat you. I think you're safe." Taking her son in her arms, Ryo kissed the top of his head. "You're getting heavy, sir." "I no sir." giggled Saburou. "I Sabu!" "You're lunch!" laughed Sajin, giving a playful nibble on Saburou's arm. Ryo leaned over and whispered something in Sajin's ear, prompting him to call over the twins.

"Is everything alright?" asked Shunsui, sitting down in front his parents. His brother did the same moments later. "You all aren't separating again, are you?" Shunsui crossed his arms over his chest and gave a deep frown.
"You're just so chipper, are you, Brother?" Sakuma shook his head crossing his arms over his chest. "You need to lighten up."
"I don't need to do anything."
"Enough!" grunted Sajin. "I've grown more than tired of the pent up frustration and the tension between the two of you. This is precisely why your mother and I have decided on what we have."
"What do you mean?" question Shunsui, raising a brow.

"Sakuma, your father and I would like to know if you would be interested in becoming a student at the Shino Academy?" Ryo raised her hand as Shunsui shot up from his seat on the ground.
Looking up to his brother, Sakuma grabbed his arm. "Relax, Shunsui." he said, in a calm voice. "I was going to ask anyway."
"What?!" shouted Shunsui. "I thought we agreed that we wouldn't. It's too dangerous!"
"No. You decided that we weren't going to go." Sakuma remained calm, releasing his brother. "I understand your anger, brother. I do. But, as Dad has said...If I am capable of protecting someone. And, I choose not to. I am just as guilt for their pain, as the person who dealt it."
"It's not the same!" shouted Shunsui.
"Shunsui..." Ryo shook her head.
"What?!"
Ryo looked to Shunsui with a gentle smile. "We are aware of you stance on the Gotei 13. Because of that, your father and I were wondering if you would want to learn more about the art of healing kido."

"What for?" shouted Shunsui, waving his arms aggressively. He ran his fingers through his hair as he walked back toward the house. "No! No! This is stupid!"
Sakuma howled loudly, shumpoing toward his brother. He grabbed him and through him onto the his back. Growling, he looked Shunsui in the eyes. "Stop being a stubborn ass!"
"Get off me!"
"No!" growled Sakuma. "We get it! Mom got hurt. That made you angry. But, she's here now, Shunsui! She's here! Get over it!"
Shunsui looked up at his brother. His anger at the moment...At his brother...His father...His mother... This was it. This was enough. Too much. Shunsui, in his anger, drew back a fist and punched his brother in the face. Sakuma flew backwards and into a tree behind him.

"Well..." Ryo shook her head, setting Saburou to the ground. "Don't move, honey." Ryo walked over to Shunsui, still lying on the ground. She looked down at her son, a smile on her face. Kneeling next to her son, Ryo sighed.
"Shunsui Komamura. What am I going to do with you? Your father and I, we want what's best for you and your brother. Your brother's strength will serve well in the academy. And, your intelligence." Ryo chuckled. "You're smarter than most lieutenants in the Gotei. You can process and analyze any situation faster than most. But, your anger..."
Ryo raised her hand, smacking Shunsui in the forehead. "It makes you stupid. But, that. That is a hidden trait of you Komamura boys. Sweet and gentle until tested. The problem here, sweetheart, is that no one is testing you."

“Not that the boy himself thinks that,” the captain commander called out as he entered the Komarmura garden. He nodded to Ryo and Sajin. “You are both looking better than when I last had a check on you. That’s good. Then again,” he tipped his hat up and looked at his fuming namesake, “there’s still some resentment in the air, isn’t there?” He leaned down and set a hand on the teen’s shoulder. “What is it that is so stupid, Sui?”

Shunsui tilted his head back and looked up at the Captain Commander. "My name is Shunsui." he said, scrambling to his feet. His fists rested at his side as his body still tensed from anger. "I don't want to join the academy. It breeds nothing but thoughts of war. Nothing good ever comes from war."
Passing a quick glance to his mother, Shunsui huffed. "Nothing but pain."

Shunsui Kyoraku chuckled and lower his hat. “Leave to a namesake I didn’t even father to say something as blunt as that.” Looking over to the parents, he didn’t see anything in their eyes to stop him from replying to their son. In fact, it seemed Ryo at least was hoping for some words of advice, if the light in her dark eyes was anything to go by. He lowered his head again.
Well… I guess this kind of thing is my job, too.
He plopped down on the grass and flipped his hat off. “Sit down before you pop a vein, Sui.”
“My name-”
“-Is Shunsui, I know. But it’s kind of weird to call you by my own name. So you need a nickname. At least from me. “ He set his zanpakuto down before his crossed legs as the boy sat with a huff and everyone else followed suit.
The commander chuckled. “It’s a nice day, isn’t it?”

"It's hot!" shouted Saburou, shuffling over to the hat the man left in the grass. He picked up the hat, giving it a once over. "Dis look funny." he giggled, placing the large hat to his head.
"Speak your peace, Old Man." grunted Shunsui. "Not even the Captain Commander can change my mind. I don't want a part in any of this. If I have to leave the Soul Society, I will."
"And, go where?" asked Sajin, crossing his arms over his chest. "In case you've forgotten, you are still a child."
"I don't care!"

Smiling at the little one as he hid under his hat, the commander stretched out and got comfortable. “I suppose I will – when you put it like that.” He looked from the boy to the sky and sighed. “So war brings nothing but pain, does it? Sounds like a dreary enough excuse for a nap, an all day long one, too.” Ryo chuckled/coughed and Sajin rolled his eyes. His smile turned crooked. “I think your parents are reminding me that I’ve used that kind of excuse before, too, and Nanao-chan’s thrown plenty of heavy books at my head for it…”
Someone coughed again. He closed his eyes. Don’t rush me, fire witch, or I’ll take you out for a good spanking.
“It’s true that there is a lot of war involved when joining the ranks of the Gotei and no one can force you to join them if that is what you wish,” Shunsui stated, raising a hand as the teen’s brother started to protest. “If you don’t have a reason to fight, then neither will your zanpakuto. But deciding to stay away from war is not the same as running away from something you fear.”
He looked at the boy in front of him again. “Your mother was hurt in a really bad way, and if she threw down her weapon, no one would blame her. But she did not. She’s still whipping your father’s ass in the bedroom and on the field.”
Sakuma giggled, though it might have been at Saburou who started rolling around with his ‘tent’ over his head.
“War does bring pain, and in war, we are all evil. Because we will hurt others. But the question that you have to ask is this, Shunsui. Are you willing to give up your ability to protect what’s important to you in order to keep your hands clean? Are you willing to watch what happens and not lift a hand to stop it when it something goes terribly wrong?” He closed his eyes again. “Will that bring you peace?” He looked over at Sakuma. “We are each born with certain gifts. There will come a time when you will have to decide how to use them. Or if you will reject them.” His gaze returned to his namesake. “If you are going to run, you have to admit that that is your choice. And accept the consequences.”
He rose from his seat in the grass, eyes on the wide sky once more. “As for me, I’d rather lay back in the sun all day surrounded by women and sake, but I knew there would come a time I would have to draw this blade at my side and kill someone that could enjoy that very same thing. Why? Because it’s my scenery and I want to preserve it. That’s my selfishness. And yes, I will go to war for it. Again and again. If there is no other choice, then I will."
He looked down at the family, looking to each of them. He then grinned. “Better rescue that hat, Ryo-chan. I'd hate to get even with such a little one~"
