As Kisuke disappeared to chase after Aizen, Gin remained silent, still for a few moments, torn between his dismay at her tears and being too late to protect her yet again. As more tears filled her eyes, he sighed, letting his rage go. Pulling her closer still, he kissed each overflowing eyelid. “You’re not a killer,” he whispered. “It’s simple as that. And that’s why even if you hate the human race, you’re still a creature bathed in light. You mourn others’ mistakes and reach out to protect even more.”
“But Aizen… he’s done ….”
“He’s killed countless and hurt countless others, but at that moment, he wasn’t armed. Killing him then would have taken a killer, not someone whose being focuses on protecting and preserving what light she can in this twisted world.”

She did not know what to say. She was so distraught at the moment her mind was not registering on anything but Aizen's and now Gin's spoken words. She did hate the humans, her own race, she did. But not enough to end all of them. She knew and she prayed that there was still hope left for her kind, and she knew there were still the ones out there like her that felt the same way, and one day they would be heard and it would all finally come to an end.
Looking to the torn flowers on the ground again, the dark purple petals of the rose scattered on the ground. The calla lily the only one still in decent shape, but crushed. Slowly she lowered herself to a squatting position as Gin watched her. Reaching out for the flower Gin quickly grabbed her hand stopping her flat with a startle. She looked quickly to him.
"I am sorry. I did not mean for them to get destroyed. I only wanted to press these to have them for my scrapbook. I should have left them with the others." She lifted his hand to her lips, kissing the fingertips in her apologize. "Do you forgive me?" She asked him letting her lips brush against the tips of his fingers.

Gin sighed and kissed her finger. “You should be forgiving me,” he whispered. He pulled her back into his arms, bringing his lips to her ear. “I did not send those flowers, my love, and if I did, I would have stayed around to receive your gratitude.”
He pulled back. “Aizen gave those to you with a card saying ‘come back soon’. He sent them when Sada visited the shop. When I saw them, flipped out, and searched Karakura for him. That’s why they were on the ground in a mess. I wanted to destroy them but went prowling for the culprit.” He chuckled shortly. “I robbed many a soul reaper of their hollow prey, too.” He held her again. “I was going to tell you tonight. I didn’t think he would come back. Do you forgive me?”

Kita's hand started to tremble as Gin held it in his, quickly she fell into his arms wrapping her arms around his torso holding his tightly. "Why did Isshin tell me you sent them?" Her voice quaked as she spoke. "I would have tossed them in the trash and not worried about saving them."
She pulled back and looked into Gin's eyes. "He is never going to leave us alone will he? We will always be ones he torments. No matter how hard we fight against him. No matter how many times we deny him. He will never give up, will he?"

Gin sighed and moved to look into her eyes. "Do you want to give up?" he asked. “Return to Aizen and Las Noches and then wait for the world to fall? To be left alone afterwards?”
"No," Kita shook her head quickly, "but I don't want to sit here and always have to look over my shoulder and worry when he will strike again." She grabbed his shoulders, her eyes wide. "We could leave Karakura. You, me and Sojiro. Without us here..." she stopped mid sentence and lowered her head. "Without me here. Aizen can't hurt the realms. He can't use me or threaten use me by hurting my loved ones and friends against me to do what he wants. They will be safe."
"True," Gin murmured, "without you here, he can't gain the power to bring all the realms under his control. But he would continue to try." Kita looked up. "Aizen has been searching for the means to command the realms since long before you were born, dearest. He wouldn't stop if you disappeared." He cupped her cheek. "And therefore, you are no more responsible for the terrifying possibility of his triumph than anyone else. This is not your fault."
He kissed her.
"If you want to flee, my love, we can," Gin continued. "But make that choice with your heart. Don't let your fear of him or what he could bring out of you control that choice. And if you do, choose to let the others go."

Kita slowly pulled away from him as she turned taking a step forward. "I can't do that. I can't let them go. They're my family. My friends. I love them far too much to let them go." A few tears escaped her eyes as she turned looking at Gin once more. "I can't leave them either. Not to face Aizen alone. If we were to leave, I know Aizen would make it worse on them in just trying to find us." Her head shook. "I can't do that to them. Even if I can't kill, there are others that can. I can at least slow him and the other ones down enough for someone else to finish them off." Her heart sunk as her hands clutched to her chest, more tears following the last.
"More blood on the hands of the innocent." She fell silent for several moments then looked into Gin's eyes. "Would you follow me if I were to ever turn, like Aizen wishes?" Her heart pounded in her chest as she waited for his answer.

Stepping back into her, Gin closed his own hands over her own, halting their trembling. “Kita,” he whispered, “leaving you is not an option for me. It never will be.” He paused. “If you fell, I don’t know if I would fall back into my darkness or go even deeper. Or if could keep enough hope to stay sane. But I would follow you. And do whatever it took to drag you back or support you. I love you. I’ve already seen plenty of Hell. Another Hell wouldn’t destroy me. I would have no assurances of that without you.”

Kita shook her head as she looked into his beautiful blue eyes. "I don't want you to follow me. I don't ever want to see you have to go through that hell again." She cupped his cheek her eyes still locked with his.
"Please. Promise me you will keep your head, stay in the light and be with our son. Please don't leave him alone. I love you. I do, more than life itself I love you, but I don't want you to follow me." Her head shook slightly. "If I do ever fall. I will need you when I finally find my way out. Because I promise you. I won't give up and I will find my way out and back to you."

Gin chuckled shortly. "I'm sorry, dearie. But to you only, I can't make a promise that I don't know if I will be able to keep. To you only, I can't lie." His eyes narrowed. "I will fight it, and I will remember. But I can't know what would happen if you fell away from me. That's the bare truth. It always will be."

Kita embraced him with a smile as she shook her head at him. "At least you did not try to promise me something you may not be able to do." She pulled back from the embrace tiptoeing up, kissing his lips sweetly. Her hand then slid into his as she step over to his side, her head resting to his arm.
"Lets go home. I have this feeling there is more I need to hear about with Aizen showing back up." She lifted her head and looked up at him. "I had this strange feeling that over came me today.""What was that?" Gin asked her as they started on there way."I thought I felt Vale's reiatsu near by. It was not as strong as it normally is and it seemed...odd. Like he was in pain." She explained to him. Her head then shook as she looked to her feet as they walked along. "You know, I am mad at him for what he did. He put us all in dangers way, but I don't hate him for it." She looked back up at Gin, "I just wish I understood better and knew why he did the crazy things he did." She smiled softly side stepping slightly as she bumped into Gin playfully. "He is nothing like you whom I use to bug you to death and get you to talk to me." A soft giggle escaped her as she shook her head.
"I am still shocked to this day I have both my legs intact. I don't know what kept you from tossing me from the roof when I would follow you up there and bug you."
Gin chuckled. "Maybe because I had already fallen for you," he murmured into her hair. "Or it could be that it was too boring without having you and the Brat to listen to." He squeezed her hand. "You're not crazy. There is a lot to talk about at the shop. And it includes Vale." Giggling at what he said about not tossing her from the roof, she rested her head back to his arm, becoming quiet when he started talking about news from the shop and it including Vale. She sighed softly, nuzzling into Gin as he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer.
"I hope Yumiko was spared if anything bad happened." She thought to herself. "She is suffering enough with his loss."
She looked up to Gin once more and smiled, "I love you." He kissed her forehead and returned her endearment. The two walked homeward in silence just enjoying being together.

"Dusk III" continues:Raelin screamed as her powers drove her right through a burning building, huddling on the ground as her wings expanded and cooled the flames with her sacrifice. Gritting her teeth, she rose, following the tug that persisted within her, and knelt by a group of friends trapped in the coffee shop. She winced as each burn they had suffered slowly painted itself across her skin yet didn't stop until they could rise.
Raising her hands, she fanned the flames to opposite sides of the door, giving them an exit.
An instant later, she drew her steel bow and shot an ice blue arrow at the peeking face of the enemy, slashing at the flames encroaching on those she had saved.
"RUN!" she shouted hoarsely.

It had been some time since the battle broke out in Karakura. Kita making her rounds to check on things to make sure all was done and taken care of. There was too much to let it just pass and 'Yes it was take care of'. To her surprise as she headed toward a Quincy reiatsu, Ulquiorra rejoined her after taking Yuzu to Las Noches and dropping her off in the Maze. She was rather glade he did because there was a place Ulquiorra was supposed to visit and he never made because of an attack from Soul Reapers that appeared in town.
The two make their way quietly as they walk around the street corner. The Quincy reiatsu very close as well as a good twenty to thirty hollows.

Raelin stood in a small square, dazzling outstretched wings aflame, her shimmering hair grown out and flowing over a deep slash to her side. She was standing in front of a small family of four whose arms were wrapped around each other, the youngest, a boy watching through wide, horrified eyes. From her burned arms, a steel bow whipped through the air, slicing into the windpipe of the nearest arrancar at the same time as another bolt claimed another's life.
She halted, the jewel on her skin throbbing against her collarbone, and erected a shield as a half-formed cero threatened those she'd saved. She still hadn't seen more of the enemy approaching. "Uryu..."

Kita watched as Raelin took out a couple more Hollow. Ulquiorra grabbing Kita, sonidoing upward getting them out of the way of a large falling hollow.
"Wake up, woman!" Ulquiorra scolded her.
Kita looked at him with narrowed eyes pushing him away as she stood next to him above Raelin on the streets. Looking away from her she looked to Ulquiorra. "What do we do with her?" She looked back to Raelin. "She is a Quincy and Lord Aizen will have no uses for her if we take her back." She looked over to the Fourth once more.
"Why are you asking me?" Ulquiorra scoffed. "Is the blood on your hands a fluke?" He waved his hand. "You are more than capable of deciding the woman's fate without me."
Kita growled at him jerking her look from the Fourth as she left his side. Landing in front of Raelin, Kita lifted her hand waving them off as the Arrancar and lower Hollow back off, turning and leaving. When Kita turned to face Raelin she was on her knees panting heavily. Kita only looked at her when the Quincy finally lifted her head and looked to her.
"I am feeling generous; so thank the Gods or whatever it is you Quincy worship. I am sparing your life. So run. Run far far away from this place because if I come across you again. I will not be so merciful.'

Raelin nodded and stood, hesitating for a moment before releasing her bow and staring at the woman who had refused her power so many years ago. “Thank you,” she whispered, keeping her shield still around the family as she walked forwards. The fire faded from her wings as she laid a hand to the gem glowing from her breastbone and she beheld the darkness wrapped so tightly around the vessel and the poison flowing in her body. Knowing such would only remain if the woman before her had no wish to eradicate it. Raelin sighed and touched her cheek. “And I am sorry, Kita.” The angel faded from view, the family with her, as a glow drifted from her fingers to surround the woman, purifying that which had been placed deep inside her. Probing for the balance lost in years of darkness.
