Yumiko blushed again and dabbed at her eyes. “I know,” she murmured. “I know it’s coming to an end. And then I can see him or her. I can embrace this amazing child.” Her eyes dampened. “And protect it as long as I can. I won’t abandon or leave-” She ducked her head as more tears fell from her eyes as renewed grief combined with sparks of joy from her child kicking her. “I’m sorry. I just stopped and I’m crying again. I am happy. It's just- Just..."
Yumiko wrapped her arms around her middle as the slow-burning sorrow swamped her again, body trembling.
She stroked her stomach. "It - it's okay. This will pass."

Saya decided she needed to take over as Kouen looked lost in what to do. She smiled at her son as he moved away from Yumiko's side and let his mother take his place. She wrapped her arms around the young woman and held her close, letting her cry on her shoulder as she rocked them slowly. She pet her long hair as she whispered softly to her.
"Its alright. Let it all out. You're not alone in this. If you ever need a shoulder or an ear..."
"You know we are there." Kouen spoke softly to her as he let his hand rest to her back as well.
Saya looked to her son and smiled, she could see that he had taken a liking to this young girl. She then looked back to Yumiko and kissed the top of her head. "You are always welcome in our home dear."

Yumiko clung to the kind woman but tried to keep her crying quiet. She didn’t want to worry this kind family, which was only waiting for news on their own family, but as her child kicked her harder, she found herself falling into the arms offered and unable to stop the hiccuping sobs. She missed so much, but she had had to focus on recovering for her child. Moving on. She couldn’t be scared or broken. She’d cried in Misao’s arms and then had tried to keep the remaining pain down. And when the grief bit at her, she shoved it down once more, hoping it would be less bitter, less shattering next time.
It never was.
Her child’s warmth was just equally powerful.
But it was getting close to when she would have to show her child the world she lived in and give it a reason to protect it with her. And more than ever, she wanted the easy guidance and unassailable kindness of the man who had adopted her and given her a new family. She needed Ukitake, and he was gone. Not only that, but the quirky but steadfast strength and belief that radiated from Commander Kyoraku was gone.
Gone.
Gone.
And she could never lean on either of those two again. Ever again. After what they did.
Yumiko curled in the arms that held her and balled.

Kin watched as his mother and younger brother comforted the emotional Noble. He knew from the information they had on the girl she lived a hard life, not just in Las Noches, but her life before that.
He stepped over to the window and looked out, his hands folded behind him as he thought about many things that had happened just since the sun rose that morning. The one that weighted on his heart the most was his baby sister was still out there in the hands of a lunatic named Aizen Sousuke.
His eyes closed slowly. "Will we ever get her back?" He spoke softly, but before any tears could fall for his baby sister, he suddenly spun with hearing the Captain drawing his blade.

Captain Kuchiki drew his blade and summoned its release as soon as he felt a change in the air around them. His eyes narrowed wondering where the attack would come from, barely aware of Ryouma sitting up and retrieving her own blade. He felt the pull of his reiatsu from her blade as strengthened the web. But nothing immediate happened. His grip remained firm on his zanpakuto, placing his faith in its power once again.

Sumi opened the gate letting the ones in the room remain active as she and Sojiro stepped from the opening. "Please, lower your weapons, and your guard." She directed the boy to a chair and let him sit.
"I have healed the boy the best I could with what little time I had to work with. You will have to finish the remainder." Sumi watched as the two Noble women rushed to Sojiro's side. She looked to the Captain.
"I have no answers for you, and the one coming after me will not answer any questions either. Just cherish the gifts returned to you and prepare." Sumi vanished from their sight.

Sojiro smiled as best he could through his bruised face but couldn’t help but wince almost immediately when Saya put her hand to the arm still in a sling. “It’s .. okay,” he hissed as black spots danced in front of him, making him sway. “He really didn’t get to do much more to me.”
“Than do some terrible reconstruction of your arm,” Saya stated dryly. “That’s bad enough.”
“Who the HELL was that?” Kin demanded.
“And where’s our sister?” Kouen asked after.
Yumiko replied as Saya started to gently inspect the torn ligament and cracked bones. “That was Sumi, the Goddess of History, and the goddess to whom Soji’s mother is the vessel. Either she…. or someone close to her is returning with Makino…. If I understood correctly.”
Sojiro jolted up. “Wait!” He froze and turned white at the wave of pain that spread over his body but forced himself to keep moving. “I was the one the bastard grabbed. What do you mean they took Maki!?”
Saya tried to push him back into the chair. “Let go! I have to get her now!”

Daichi, white fur covered in thistles and blood, appeared on his master's shoulder, a golden light wrapping around the boy. Sojiro folded back into the chair, eyes out of focus. The demigod licked at his shoulder, deadening some of the pain and terror flowing through his system yet again. As his master's heartbeat slowed, he spoke into his mind.
It doesn't matter now that he took her. She is returning and there are other things you must listen to. Open your mind.
Daichi released his master from his powers just as the wall shimmered with another's godly powers. He turned to watch.

Again a gate opened as this time Kita stepped from the gate, she looked around the room seeing familiar and unfamiliar faces. When she looked at Sojiro her heart fell, but she stayed strong in the faces of the ones before her. Her head then quickly turned when she heard one of the brothers of the girl yell out to her.
"Where is our baby sister?!" Kouen demanded to know as he stepped toward her.
"Yes! Where is Makino?!" Kin demanded as well.
Kita lifted her hand stopping them both in their paths. "I have her with me. She is alive." She let her hand draw behind her and inside the still opened gate, as Kita command the energy source wrapped around the young girl to move forward. With her slow steady movements, Kita directed the energy source over the bed and laid the girl out to rest on top of the bed.
"She will need medical aid. I was forbidden to heal her and I was to bring her back to her family, and..." She paused looking to Sojiro once more. "My son." She looked to Byakuya. "With a message."

As the captain turned to his mother, Sojiro’s pain and worry for his girlfriend was momentarily displaced by his mother, on what tone his ears had locked onto and the words she had spoken. Then, there was the fact that she was “forbidden” to heal Makino and that she had returned “with a message.” A knot clenched in his stomach. “Mom….” he whispered.
She couldn’t be doing what he thought she was. She wasn’t giving in…. Was she?

Kita looked to her son hearing his whispered call. She did not smile, her eyes held no sympathy. She only looked on at him, staying strong in the face of the ones she would soon call her enemies.
As his slate grey eyes narrowed in his own warning, Byakuya looked at the Vessel. “What’s the message, Miyamoto?”
Her attention was now drawn to the Captain. "She is only the beginning."
“Mom, you can’t be SERIOUS!” Sojiro cried out, surging to his feet.
Kin and Kouen looked to one another then the Vessel. They remained silent, but understood her message with the shape their sister was in.
Saya reach for Byakuya taking a hold of his hand, "What does that mean?"
Byakuya spread his arm out to keep her behind him as his eyes narrowed to points of sparking obsidian. “It means he’s starting the war again, and this was only the spark, the warning of what’s to come.”
Yumiko remained silent, torn at the sight of her best friend for the first time since her betrayal, the slight showing of a new pregnancy, and the darkness in her eyes. “Kita…”
Kita let her eyes scan the faces of the ones in the room as she turned putting her back to them. She did not answer their cries, their questions or even elaborate on the message. "Tend to your own. She needs you." The gate closed behind her and she was gone.

Laying on the bed, Makino started to wake as she lifted her better arm, her hand going to her forehead as she rubbed at a knot there. She moaned low, catching the attention of the ones in the room. Kin being closest to her he stepped quickly up beside her.
"Makino!" Kin called out to her and touched her arm laying beside her.
Makino screamed out lifting slightly from the bed. "Don't! Please! Don't touch me!" Her head shook slightly as hot tears streamed down the sides of her face, and pooled at her eyes. She was bruised, broken and sore. All from one man, a man she wished were dead.

Sojiro’s worry for his mother and family was momentarily replaced by a need to move over to Makino. An idea formed in his head. And when her mother looked up, he froze time and shunpo’ed over to her, leaning on the bedside as time resumed and the pain in his upper body resurfaced, combining with a headache.
“Makino,” he whispered, “it’s okay. You’re home now. He can’t hurt you.”
Makino’s eyes swam with new tears at the sight of him. “Soji-kun….” She reached out with her good hand.
Sojiro gritted his teeth and took it, squeezing gently as he smiled at her as best he could. “We both made it. You can relax.” He stared into her vibrant eyes, willing to take the tears away until someone pushed him into a new chair. He kept his hand in hers.

The presence of the friend who had betrayed her and the words put Yumiko in a daze until Saya moved towards her daughter. As she murmured words of comfort, Yumiko shook her head out of the cloud of turmoil and walked over to Sojiro. She pressed more healing power into the left arm which was so terribly mangled, focusing on the pain before her and not the special bond between the two young people. She flinched as her child kicked again and glanced down at her large belly.
“Calm down, little one,” she whispered. “I’m alright.”
Sojiro jolted and Yumiko’s attention turned back to him. Her free hand clenched over her zanpakuto, keeping her anchored in the details of the wounds before her. One set of details that mattered. She tuned out the rest.

Saya worked her way to her daughter's other side placing her next to Sojiro. She rest her hand to the boy's shoulder as they both looked at Makino. "Maki-chan, can you tell us what hurts?" She let her free hand lift as she carefully brushed the hair from her face, as she did she felt the knot thus causing Makino to wince slightly.
"Sorry, sweetie," Saya told her as she let her hand hover over the knot to help the swelling go down. "Lady Ryouma and I will heal you and if you are up to it, you can tell us what we really need to concentrate on."
