"There has not been a good way to bring up what, Sweetie? And why has Kisuke been spending time here?" Kita asked him. She reached over resting a hand to his own. She could feel him trembling.
"Sojiro? What has happened to make you so upset?" Her heart wrenched and eyes widened. Only one thing other than something happening to his father or herself could have her son so shook up. "Did something happen to Kenji?!" Her tone panicked.

Sojiro shook his head. "No, not Kenji. Though you arrived shortly before I was going to find him."
Kita took a breath. "Then what is it? Wait," her face paled, "it's not Yumi-"
Sojiro jerked his head in the negative, sighing as his brother hugged him.
"You still sad. No sad Toji!"
Smiling just enough to light up his eyes, Sojiro met his mother's eyes and carried Kadaj to a corner, setting him down by a box. "Think you can fix these? I'll feel a little better if you do."
He returned to his mother. "Mom," he clenched his hands and looked aside, trying to keep from hurting himself again. Or losing control. "Ukitake is dead. So is Kyoraku. Sada...." he paused, "destroyed Ukitake... and killed Kyoraku afterwards." His shoulders hunched. "There's.... almost nothing left of Take-jii. Just-" He jerked an arm up over his face, trying to hide his tears.

Kita's hand went swiftly to her head her eyes cast down. Her heart ached even more than before as hot tears freely made there way down her cheeks. She choked as she tried to swallow what her son told her.
"Vale said...Vale said... he was dead." She looked up to her son as he was trying not to cry as she quickly stood and wrapped her arms tightly around him. They both cried holding one another close. "Are they sure it was Sada? He is supposed to be dead." She parted from the embrace and looked into his tear filled eyes. "Vale said he was dead."
Sojiro nodded slowly. "It was Sada. From what I heard, and what Kisuke told me. It couldn't have been none other than Sada. Taki-jii death was too..."
Kita turned away from her eldest cutting him short, her hand back to her forehead as she looked to the floor. She did not want to hear anymore, she then turned quickly to look at him once more. "Where is Kisuke? I want you to take me to him."

Sojiro swallowed and rubbed at his eyes. "I can find him. If that is what you want," he acquienced, voice thick. He shook his head slowly. "I- I'm sorry I had to tell you something like this." Kadaj ran over to them, barelling into his mother's arms as she knelt. "No like! Now Mom and Toji both sad. Where's Dad? He fix it!" Sojiro chuckled. "That would be nice," he admitted, voice low. He picked up his zanpakuto and Daichi climbed back onto his shoulder. "I hope ... it's been good with Vale." He unlocked the door, eyes hardening.
Ready to protect his family.
He grabbed his mother's elbow. Keeping them close.

A Date:
It was a quiet evening at last. In the last few days, Sojiro had forgotten how that felt. He set his pen down and looked over his shoulder at Makino, who had gotten up and stolen his kitchen. He wondered what she was cooking. He didn’t remember when Riku and he had last stocked up the fridge. He turned back to his essay and then closed the book.
Standing up, he walked over, waited for Makino to set the tomato down and lower her knife, before wrapping his arms around her. “Find enough ingredients, Maki?” he murmured, kissing the back of her neck.

Her shoulders lifted slightly as she giggled softly, her head turning to look at him. "I found enough to make for us. Lets hope Riku don't come back too soon and if he does, he has eaten." She gave his cheek a quick peck.
Turning back to their dinner she started chopping the tomato again. "Did you get your essay done?"
His head shook slightly as he kissed the back of her neck again and she giggled softly, her shoulders pulling up from the tingle it gave her.
"And your in here? Why~?"

Sojiro hummed against her skin. “Because it won’t take long to finish it, and you’re here,” he purred, arms tightening around her. “Something so sweet,” he kissed her ear, “pretty,” her other ear, “generous.” He nuzzled the back of her neck. “And too quiet. I had to see if she was going to fly away too soon~”
She smiled and set the knife to the counter again and wiped her hands. Turning in his arms to face him she slid her arms under his wrapping them around his torso. "And what makes you think your going to get it done now that I have you in here with me?"
"Well, eventually, I have to return you to your dorms, don't I?" He grinned as they embraced. "I can do it before bed or when I wake up. It's just a standard one. I could almost do it in my sleep." He paused. "But then again, I like thinking of something else when I'm sleeping."

Makino tightened her arms around him pulling him closer, her head titling slightly as she spoke softly into his ear. "You don't have to. I could spend the night with you. Wrapped in one another's arms feeling the warmth of the others body against us."
She kissed around the rim of his ear with soft tender kisses then let the tip of her tongue follow the curve back around. She felt him tremble in her arms as she then pressed her moist lips to his neck and hummed softly against his skin.

Sojiro gulped and could feel his face heating up. The slide of her warm tongue on his ear, the heat of her breath on his neck, hum of contentment, and the soft press against his body… was she… was Makino …. seducing him? Already?
“Um…. Maki-Hachi… I-”
His stomach growled loudly stopping him from stuttering anything further. He blushed again.

Makino pulled back from him with a wide smile. "Lets get you fed. I don't want you to pass out on me and most important you have homework you need to finish before we can get started on anything else."
She patted his arm and turned back around to the counter. She grabbed a few more things to chop and got busy on them. "Is there anything else you would like me to whip up?" She looked over her shoulder at him. "You have some peaches in there. I could fix a nice desert for us." She grinned. "Unless you were planning on us being the desert."

Sojiro pulled back and blushed even deeper. "Maki!" he yelped. She giggled and he ran a hand through his hair. "The peaches would make a good dessert, and I think we have ice cream. But as far as - as far as..." He shook his head, still hot. "Don't you worry about what your family will think? You're a noble, too."
And I am getting ahead of myself and not really pulling back.

Makino smiled shaking her head. "I am not worried about my family. My brothers are over protective and always have been. You should have seen the mess they put poor Hiro through. I thought he was going to put out all of his hair." She snickered softly as she chopped at the vegetables.
"Finally, it took father telling them to leave him alone for them to stop harassing him."

Sojiro nodded, listening quietly, before pausing and looking her way. “Hiro?” he asked. “You had a boyfriend before this?”
“Fiancé,” she murmured, the rhythm of her strokes remaining firm and even. “He died in the Winter War.”
The first war with Aizen…. Sojiro murmured to himself. “And then your father died…” Makino’s knife halted. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought it up. You made your decision, but after telling me about this guy, it seems… your choice was even harder than I at first believed.” He embraced her again.
“What was he like? Hiro? Did you know him before you were engaged?"

Makino shook her head, "No. Our marriage was arranged. Like my mothers and fathers. Like my brothers would have been," she started to chuckle. "That is if they could have found females worthy of the cause." She laid the knife down wiping her hands as she turned around to face Sojiro.
"I did know him though. We fought side by side for years. He was a good man. Strong, intelligent, funny." She paused and looked into his eyes with a sly smile. "Handsome."

Sojiro chuckled. “Are you trying to point out where we are similar and where I am lacking, Maki? If so,” he pulled her closer to him, “I don’t think that is very fair when I am the one you’re flirting with and kissing.”
She wrapped her arms around him again, giving his lips a peck. "No, but most guys don't ask about ex's." She kissed his lips again. "If I did not think you were all this and more..." She grew quiet whispering her next sentence sheepishly. "I would not have fallen for you last year." She looked up into his eyes once more adding quickly so to advert him from her whisper. "I would not be here right now in your arms.
Sojiro caressed her cheek. “Then I’m glad you fell into my arms, Maki. And that you’re stubborn enough to keep me from pushing you away.” He kissed her cheek. “Let’s just hope that I don’t break your heart then - when my destiny comes knocking or from anything else. You’ve been unhappy enough.”
He stepped out of her arms. “I’ll set the table while you finish cooking, and, just for the record, if I were a brother of yours, I’d be an overprotective bastard, too.”
