He wanted to be free of the darkness so to free him of it she absorbed the darkness in his soul. She was not aware that she was doing this, but that is the out come of this power. The same goes for anyone that is good that wants to fall into the shadows. She would absorb their light."
Sumi sighed. "Her balance has been thrown off and the darkness now out weighs the light. If she were to get around anyone that seeks what your father did, it risk her and the other person."

Sojiro sighed and held his mother close as Sumi explained the situation, and for a moment, he was relieved that his father wasn’t … around anymore. For a moment only. Then the ache that had deepened since his family had started to fall apart at the return the war returned. His eyes hardened. He would risk it. She had protected him for so long. It was his turn.
“Kisuke is in balance. Would her ability affect him? Or do I need to take her to someone else?"

"There are only two that would be safe around her." She looked into Sojiro eyes. "I am sorry Sojiro, but even you are at risk being around your own mother. You waver on your path like your father because you are fearful of losing them."
She started to fade. "Go quickly. Your time is running out. Kisuke will know what to do with her."

Sojiro bowed to the goddess and turned around, frowning at the warning in her words about himself. But he couldn’t dwell on it now. He could only hold time back for a very short time. And his mother would be missed. Keeping a firm hold on his mother, he shunpo’ed away from the fields towards the First Division.
There had to be a way to protect her as she had him for so long.
If he couldn't protect her, he had no right attempt to stay at the side of Makino, the woman of his dreams.
