"Returning from the Treasure Trove":
Riku and Makino sat in a simple horse drawn cart driven by Kouen and Shirou up front. In the cart, surrounding them, were dozens and dozens of valuable artifacts given to them by Makino’s dear mother. The two of them had spent the better part of four hours going through Lady Saya’s collection and building their stock of items for the auction. The last hour was spent trying to pull Riku out of the treasure trove of priceless items.
The stock of items they got from Lady Saya included paintings, stone and glass wares, fabrics, tapestries, kimonos of all kinds, gems and jewelry, sculptures, books and manuscripts, scrolls, and many more things. Riku could barely contain himself as he stood in the noblewoman’s museum like collection room. He just about had a seizure when she let him pick a generous amount for himself after Makino had cut them off, saying that they would have trouble transporting what they already picked out. Not to mention what they would do if they didn’t sell it all, given that this was the first auction the Academy had ever done.
As they sat on the bench in the cart, Makino laughed as Riku hugged tight a beautiful embroidered kimono that was navy blue with white turtle doves and silver silk trimming. Perfectly folded in his lap was another kimono that he planned on wearing for the festival.
“Maki-chan, Kouen-san, Shirou-san. Your mother is amazing! All of the treasures she had! She must have been a dragon queen in her previous life! What a collection!”

Kouen chuckled, "you think so? Dad just called her a pack rat."
The group laughed with Kouen as he looked back to his little sister. "So you really think people will want to buy this stuff. I mean I know mom is good at what she does, but it is not like she is a renowned Artist known and loved by all that has one of her pieces."
He looked quickly to his younger brother as he elbowed him in the ribs. "What?! Its true. Mom is good, but not great."

“You hush!” Shirou shook his head at his brother. “Mom is much better than good. She may not be thought of as a legendary, master artist, but she does have talent.” He flicked the reigns against the horse’s bum lightly when the horse slowed down without being told.
When Kouen rolled his eyes as if to say “yeah right,” Shirou let go of one side of the reigns to dig his knuckles into Kouen’s temple. “Mom has talent and you know it!”

Riku chuckled at the brothers’ antics, nodding. “I agree with Shirou-san. Lady Saya does have talent. Both in creating and in collecting. And it’s terrible that your father called her a pack rat. Pack rats collect useless junk.” He rubbed the soft fabric of the kimono against his cheek. “These treasures are anything but useless junk.”
Makino giggled softly as she shook her head at the three of them. "Mother has had people form far and wide come to her and ask for her works. Whatever it might be and even Byakuya-sama is impressed by her talent. I think that speaks volumes of how well we will do with her things. Not to mention the talents Riku found at the Academy. I think we will do very well with not just mothers things, but everyone's."
"Agreed, definitely. Lady Saya is a great artist. I'm glad she let me have a few of her works for my own collection." Riku picked out another kimono. This time a painted one by Lady Saya. "Her kimonos are beautiful."

Makino nodded, "I love my mothers kimono's," she giggled softly. "That's why I have so many." She lifted the package sitting next to her. "I just hope Soji-kun likes the one we picked out for him." She looked over to Riku with a bright smile.
"It's coming from you Maki-chan. He would love it if it was a burlap bag." Kouen said chuckling.
"Whatever!" Makino exclaimed. "Soji-kun does have taste contrary to your beliefs, Kouen-sama."

Shirou smirked as he remembered his and Kouen's day of teasing their dear sister's boyfriend. Now she had brought one of her male friends over, who was very different from Sojiro. This made him immensely curious. "Hey. Kouen-nii. Maybe we should put Riku-kun though the same ritual as Soji-kun. That would be fun, huh?" He nudged Kouen's side then looked back, biting his tongue at the half curious, half frightened look on the youth's face.

Makino moved slowly up toward her brothers pushing her way between the two. She looked to one then the others. "And what did you do to my dear Soji-kun?"
The two froze and looked straight ahead not saying a word to her. She cleared her throat. "Speak now or someone is going to find out about a certain hidden library."
"You wouldn't dare!" Kouen exclaimed softly with wide eyes as he looked to his sister that had pushed her way between them.
"Now now sister dear," Shirou patted her shoulder and kissed her cheek. "We only teased him a bit. He's still in one piece, is he not? And he's still got all his marbles up top rattling around in his head and all his eggs in one basket. He came out unscathed. And I think he had fun in the end, don't you agree, Kouen?"
Kouen chuckled, "I think he came out with a few extra."
Shirou chuckled along with his older brother as Makino rolled her eyes and slipped to the back with Riku once more. "They are harmless perverts, Riku. Don't let them rattle you."
Riku shook his head and smiled warmly. "I trust them. Soji-kun never had anything bad to say about them when he returned from your family home. he was always rather relaxed and in a good mood. Plus, they are your brothers and you are alright in my book."
Makino giggled. "Thank you, and glad to know that." She paused for a second with a puzzled look on her face. "I think."

"By the way. What is this 'certain hidden library'? And what's the ritual you did to Soji-kun?" Despite being a bit fearful, he was also immensely curious. Sojiro hadn't told him specifically what happened, for whatever reason. But Shirou was right. Sojiro wasn't really that damaged when he returned.
Kouen grinned widely. "The hidden library is where I keep all my reading material."
"You mean all your porno?" Makino chimed in with a giggle.
Kouen turned and looked at her with a devious grin. "That you enjoy as much as your boyfriend."
Makino flushed as she jolted forward. "You didn't!?"
"Oh yes, Maki-chan. He had lots of fun in Kouen's library. Learned a lot too. Maybe one day he'll get to show you."
Riku flushed madly at the Masanobu siblings' words. Now he was brimming with curiosity. Just what was Kouen Masanobu into exactly? And what else were the noble siblings into? He couldn't imagine that the eldest brother Makino told him about--the one she and the other brothers had worked so hard to keep out of the home before bringing Riku there--would think about this "hidden library."

Makino was still beet red when Riku turned his attention back to her. She tried hard to keep eye contact from him as he probed her for information. "Riku please, its really nothing but a bunch of books on hentai, yaoi and yuri."
"Excuse me!!" Kouen expressed as he turned to look at his baby sister. "It's more than that. It's the best sellers, top authors, amazing play writes in existence and some of the oldest stories one can't even find nowadays." He turned to face the front once more with a huff as he repeated Makino's words to Riku. "Nothing but a bunch of books."
Makino looked to her brother as did Riku, but turned quickly away when Riku looked back to her.

Riku chuckled softly at Makino's embarrassment. "You're not embarrassed, are you Maki-chan?" He smiled at her. "Don't be embarrassed. There's nothing wrong with being sexually curious and aware. Some people are always so prudish and I never know why. Other people act like it's disgusting to like sexual activity. And then there are the people who don't think those who are seemingly innocent can't handle sex. There's nothing wrong with it. It's a healthy part of life so long as you act on it in a healthy manner."

"Exactly!" Kouen exclaimed as he turned and pushed a hand into Riku's arm, nodding his head. "I like this boy, Maki-chan. He knows how it works. I have to say you have found yourself a group of great friends. That pretty little red head Allura, Riku, Mitsuo and Sojiro. I am sure Jiro and Shin approve of them or they would be at our place bitching about them non stop."
Makino looked at Riku and smiled warmly, her eyes meeting his. "Sorry, I am not ashamed that I read them. It's just the way it came about I guess."
Kouen looked to Riku again. "Got some good reading material, Riku-kun. Any time you need something to read stop on by. Bring Soji-kun with you. We can sit and talk, hang out even."

"Yes! Definitely!" Riku beamed, nodding enthusiastically as his cheeks tinged a light pink.
Never in his life did he expect to be making friends with nobles. Makino was one thing, but her brothers and Makino's mother as well? His family would be beside themselves if they knew who he was hanging out with these days. The Masanobu clan was far from Asuhara family target material, but that didn't mean that his family made it a habit of surrounding themselves with any nobles. Good or bad. Being accepted by such a family was heartwarming for Riku. He hugged tight the kimono still in his arms.
Not too much longer and they had arrived at the Academy's storage building. The brothers halted the horses and they hopped off, setting to unloading their haul for the day.Moved-- END --
