"Festival Auction":Riku walked around the auction house, checking, double checking and triple checking everything in his mind. So far everything was perfect and in its place. Everything was just how he wanted it. So far so good. Riku was overjoyed by this, but he still couldn't calm down. He wanted this perfect till the end. These auctions had to succeed. He promised Makino they would, and he planned on keeping his word.
"Doing great everyone, keep up the good work," he said to all of the staff and volunteers he past by.
The guests that had shown up for the gallery before the auction (and there was quite a turnout indeed) all seemed enthralled by the set up of the pieces. The paintings, jewelry and kimonos were especially popular. Thankfully, the nobles appeared to be too interested in the pieces than in the fact that the auctions were set up by an Asuhara. Every time a noble smiled at him and nodded it felt like a breath of fresh air to him.
After a while of checking in on everything he headed to the front entrance of the auction house's gallery for a short break. And then he spotted her.
"Maki-chan!!!"

Makino smiled brightly as Allura helped her to an empty chair, across the room she saw Byakuya as she whispered to Allura. "If he ask I am fine." She looked back to Riku as he came toward her and they gave one another a hug.
"Riku, everything looks amazing. I am so proud of you and Allura. I don't think I could have done better with it." She looked around again seeing everyone that came to the auction. "How is it going? This is the first night for it, right, or were you up and running with this yesterday to?"
She looked to both of them with sad eyes. "Sorry I could not be here yesterday. It was an all day begging fest for me to get the few hours I got today."

Allura nodded to Riku when she saw him, taking her time to marvel at just how beautifully the auction was set up, Riku really outdid himself.
She looked to Makino when she apologized, "It's no worries, Makino. I'm pretty sure we were both preoccupied as is." Allura let out a soft laugh.
"We're both just happy you could make it here in general and get to see how it all turned out."

"That's right! And if you want to see any of the works' displays up close, I'll carry you around if I have to," Riku beamed ear to ear, even happier now that Makino was able to make it. "I have some free volunteers going around taking pictures for the Seireitei Communication as well. A few of the Gotei members here said they could talk to the magazine's committee in Squad Nine. Hopefully we'll get an article done on not just the festival, but the auctions as well. That will really boost our reputation for Winter."
He pointed to a couple of the guests who did not seem like nobles, but weren't mere common folk either. "I think those two are Squad Nine members involved with the committee. I'm hoping that they're here to get info for an article. Even if we don't sell as much as we're planning--which I don't think will happen--the publicity will make up for it in strides."

Makino giggled. "I don't need you to carry me around I can get around just fine, but thank you." She looked from the corner of her eye seeing Byakuya walking their way. "I am fine. Remember that," Makino whispered to Riku and Allura.
She pushed up out of the chair to stand. "So lets go see what we have here, Riku. I am excited to see the rest of this set up."

“Sit down, Makino, or you will be going to the manor, instead,” the captain intoned as he neared the group of friends. His gaze moved from them to his daughter once again. “We spoke of this. I will only allow these few hours if you will rest when you need it.”
Makino looked to her father, "I was resting. I am alright now, really." She looked to her friends as they just stood there not saying a word. She could see they did not want to deify the Captain. Makino sighed and sat back down. "I only have like an hour left and sitting here don't get done what want to do."
Byakuya closed his eyes and then set a hand on Makino's shoulder. "You may stay as long as I allow it. There are way to take you back home if you can't walk afterwards." He turned away before she could express her joy and called behind.
"A word with you, Asuhara."

Makino almost fell out of her chair as she turned to look at her father as he walked away. "Thank you, father!!" She was so wrapped up in what he told her she did not hear him call Riku to his side. She looked to Allura and giggled. "I will get to see the fireworks tonight." She looked around quickly.
"I need to find Sojiro." She was smiling so widely her cheeks were starting to cramp.

Admittedly, Riku was more than a bit worried when Captain Kuchiki pulled him off to the side. What could he want? Usually in this situation, his first instinctive thought was to respond with "I didn't steal anything." However he kept his assumptions to himself and hoped that his talk with the captain would be a positive one and not a negative one.
"Um..." Riku said hesitantly, gathering up the courage to speak. "I hope you and Lady Saya have been enjoying the festival and the auction. All of her pieces have become so popular in just a short amount of time. I expect that her pieces will fetch the highest bids."

Captain Kuchiki didn't give him a reply immediately but let his commentary finish as he put together his own plan. He pulled out a piece of paper and handed it over to the boy. "These are the pieces I have chosen and the bids I have placed on them. If someone deigns to challenge me, then I wish to be informed immediately. You will also make sure Makino stays sitting at least half of the time. Do I make myself clear?"

Riku took the paper and looked down at it, then blinked up at the captain. "Y-yes sir! Of course! I'll keep one eye on your selections and the other on Maki-chan." He slipped the paper into his kimono for safe keeping. "Um, was there anything else, Captain? If I could be of any more assistance to you, please let me know."
"You've done honor to this work," the noble replied and then walked away, heading to the exit. Though he would not be far.
Riku stood there gawking for a moment as the words set in. Then he smiled widely and trotted back over to Makino and Allura

Makino and Allura were giving hugs when Riku walked back up to the table. Allura then turned and waved at Riku.
"I will be back in as soon as I can. Seems there is an issue with one of the game stands. Should not take me long."
"You sure you don't want us to wait for you?"
"No, go on head I will catch up." Allura waved to them and was off leaving them to their own.
Once she was gone Makino turned to Riku. "Well where do we start?" She looked around the makeshift auction house. "How many areas you got set up here?" She ask him positioning her crutch and stepping toward him.

Riku smiled proudly, putting his hands on his hips. "All of the ones we planned on. I was shocked that I was able to fit everything how we wanted it. I guess we planned better than we thought. The guests are really pleased. And also..." He scratched his temple, smiling sheepishly. "Captain Kuchiki praised me for the work I did. His exact words was that I brought honor to the work. So I guess he really liked the set up."
He pulled out the slip of paper the captain gave to him and showed it to Makino. "These are the ones he wants me to keep track of for him. I can't say I'm surprised that most of them are your mother's," Riku chuckled. Putting it away, he linked his arm with Makino's free arm. "In any case, let's give you the grand tour of the gallery! Just don't be surprised if I make you sit down every ten minutes. I'd like to stay on your future father-in-law's good side~"

Makino giggled softly as she linked her arms with Riku's. "Why am I not surprised that I was part of the conversation you two were having." She looked around at all the placed faces in the room as they walked slowly toward the first art exhibit.
"So either you never had the chance or my pain medication is working better than I thought, but I don't remember your answer on when I ask if this was your first day or your second." As they entered the first section her eyes lit up. It was wonderful how Riku had it all set up

"Today is the first day. Yesterday we set things up and today we're doing an all day gallery viewing. Then tomorrow we'll have the auctions. The nobles auction is in the afternoon and the public auction is in the morning with a lunch break in between the two. We'll also have a special dinner in the evening, though the entry fee for that is five hundred a piece for the public and one thousand a piece for private seating, aka the nobles. Cheap, but we expect a huge turnout."
They walked through the first exhibit slowly, taking their time before moving into the next one, which was the kimonos and fabrics displays.

Makino's eyes lit up when she saw the one kimono her mother made when she was very young. She made a quick path toward it tugging Riku along with her. She stood there in a daze like she had seen a ghost. She was still to small to get into it at the time when her mother made it, but she vowed that when she was old enough she was going to dig through the stack of kimono's and get it out, but when they time came she could never find it. Now here it was on display.
It was an ocean scene with a coral reef, the light shining through the water. A Barrier Reef type scene with the colorful ocean fish and lots of colorful sea creatures. It was painted on white silk and a beautiful teal silk obi.
She looked to Riku. "Please tell me no one has bid on this?" Her voice almost begging for a 'no'.
