Juushiro nodded and then walked over, embracing and kissing Yumiko on her forehead. He could feel her trembling slightly beneath her layers of clothing. I hope we are making the right decision. He stepped back and looked to Vale.
“Don’t hurt her again,” he stated, plainly, his verdant eyes sharp with warning. He was not going to watch her break again. “This is the last time you will get the benefit of the doubt.”

Vale looked to Ukitake with narrowed eyes. "Don't threaten me, Juushiro." Feeling Yumiko's tug on his hand, Vale took a step back but did not lower his gaze. "I will go with you because you can help me. And, Yumiko asked me to. But, I trust you about as much as you trust me."

“I don’t want to hear you threatening Juushiro,” Shunsui called over. He turned back around from surveying and masking their presence from the surroundings, dark eyes sharp as he continued. “The only reason you had that chance with Yumiko in the first place was because he gave you another chance, and he had the best defense for your survival if you had stood trial.”
Vale looked to him. “I take it I am not standing trial then?”
“You are not,” the Captain Commander confirmed. “I decided your fate with your confession and some actions driven by that after the fact. Now, it depends on whether Kisuke chooses to have you or not.”

As Vale’s eyes lit with fire again, Yumiko squeezed his hand and stepped forward. “Kyoraku-san, I know you worry about the destruction he could cause again, but,” she lowered her head, “Vale knows what lying would do to me. He’s seen it before.” She took a breath and then looked up. “And he’s had many chances to hurt me in which he hasn’t. So please give him another chance. For me?” Her two teachers looked at each other and then Shunsui cast the Kido concealment spell of Kyokko. "Give me Chinmoku, Yumiko." She looked to Vale for permission. His mouth thinned but eventually he nodded. She moved forward to hand it to the commander. He took it and turned around again, leading them to his office. Yumiko let out a breath she didn't know she's been holding.

"Weight of Responsibility":Jusuhiro’s usual wide smile for his division faltered at the emptiness of the office sitting area. Devoid of both of his third seats as well as Rukia, it meant he could worry again. He closed his eyes. He didn’t know what could be worse, his student’s situation with Tervaden or the near solid fact that Aizen had escaped from his cell and could return to torment the near peace of Soul Society. He sighed, running a hand over his eyes. Near. Due to the mourning brought about by the bloody salutation at the Shin’o Academy courtyard. Setting the book of forbidden kido down on his desk, Juushiro reached for paper and wrote a missive for his officers — To not disturb him unless the missive or visitor came from another captain, first division, or Central. He set the message on the table and retreated once more to his private office. Hesitating before closing the door. Letting out a breath, he opened the cover, turning to the table of contents and perusing the contents. A faint sad smile rose on his lips as he reached into his bookshelf. A thud echoed as a hidden door at his feet unlocked. Kneeling down, he opened the hatch, revealing more books. He selected two, setting them beside the one Ryo had brought from the archives, and locked it again… A couple hours later, Juushiro sat on the steps to the garden, evaluating his review of the material as he sipped some rosemary tea. A break from the grim reading and the humming in his throat.

Being asked to join the mission to Las Noches and hearing about Yumiko and the children, Nori thought she would stop by the Thirteenth Division and check on her fellow officer. Finding him a few minutes later sitting out in his garden. He look wore out and pale compared to when she saw him the other day. He sipped from a cop of tea as he gazed out over the garden.
"I see you're hard at work," Nori replied with her usual warm smile walking up to him.
He returned her smile looking her way, "Captain Mutsu what a surprise. What brings you to my division?"
"The news of what is weighting on your mind and the offer to go with the group to retrieve them."

Juushiro chuckled quietly. “It will be good that you’re going with them.” He set his cup aside. “Shall I make you a cup of tea, Mutsu-san?”
Nori smiled. “Yes that would be wonderful, thank you Ukitake-san." Taking a seat there with him.
Juushiro nodded and rose. “I will be right back.” He returned into his study, making sure the books and his notes were covered before going over to the cupboard with his refreshment supplies.
A few minutes later, he returned with a tray of cookies and a teapot of of tea. Sitting down again, he poured one to her and refilled his own.
“I hope it’s not too bitter for you, Nori-san,” he murmured. “The rosemary soothes my throat, but it is a little stronger than most would prefer.”

Nori shook her head lightly after lowering her cup, "its fine, and if I knew you had to go make it. I would have done it myself," she smiled still, "but thank you again."
"So I was told a bit of information about our captive. It is believed he is not who we believe?" Her head tilted slightly with her statement.

Juushiro released another sigh. “I am doing some research for that.” He paused. “It is believed that he is Kurosaki; however, he has the mind and appearance of Sousuke Aizen.”
Nori’s eyes widened. “How is that possible? Is it possible to reverse?”
Juushiro looked towards a butterfly gliding around his tulips. “I am doing my research to find out such answers and if it doesn’t work… Kyoraku will call on the Soul King.”
Nori nearly dropped her cup. “What? Wait, is that possible?”
Juushiro nodded. “For the Captain Commander of the Soul Society it is, but it is the Soul King’s decision to meet with him or not. It is our last choice. The eternal prison is not something to be trifled with, and if it is Kurosaki there, we need to find a way to free him.”
Juushiro’s bright eyes narrowed slightly, acknowledging a silent fact. One of our last choices, he clarified to himself.
“Can’t you just release him now?” she asked.
The older captain shook his head. “There is no physical proof that he is NOT Aizen,” Juushiro explained, returning his focus to his fellow captain. “In fact, if freed while in that form, he might be just as terrible as the real thing.”

Nori sighed shaking her head as she looked out over the garden. She then turned quickly getting an idea. "Juushiro? I know this is risky, but could he be tested power wise?" Juushiro's eyes widened slightly.
"I know I know it is risky IF it is Aizen, but the thought here is he is not. Aizen is skilled beyond any other in Soul Society or Karakura. Kido spells without incantations. A Master swordsmen. He might think like Aizen, look like Aizen, but can he have his skills as well, and even if the imposer can. He can't control his zanpakuto."

Juushiro nodded. “That is probably true; however,” he murmured, sipping his tea, “I don’t think we risk something like that while he wears Aizen’s form.” He looked to the wind captain. “Kurosaki has a formidable hollow spirit inside him. If Aizen’s shape fails, there is no guarantee that Kurosaki will surface in control. The hollow inside him nearly destroyed the Fourth Espada in the last war. What he is capable now, after the Quincy war and growing older, is something we don’t know.”

Nori shook her head looking down into her cup. "Kurosaki has better control over that hollow than you all want to admit... Its not just that is it Juushiro?" She looked his way. "If you are that worried about it at least go to the archives where his zanpakuto is locked up. If the sword is there then we have Aizen, but I promise you..." she paused looking into his green eyes, her head shaking lightly.
"If Sousuke Aizen is free. He has his blade at his side."

Juushiro sighed. “No doubt,” he murmured. He fell silent for a few moments. It hadn’t been public knowledge where they had sealed the blade. But it wouldn’t matter if what Juushiro and his friend believed had actually passed had occurred. He set his tea aside. “You should know what I know about the Ayakashi before you either take this mission or not, Nori,” he stated. “I will start with the twins. The foul language may fool you into thinking they are not as perilous as they may be, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Do NOT let them touch you. They use time to their advantage, either aging or de-aging their opponents. Stay out of their reach. You may be able to manipulate their temper IF you can keep up with their speed. If they touch your hair, it won’t age you. They need living cells, in other words, your skin.” “Teruo has a wide array of abilities….” Juushiro continued to talk about the Ayakashi in detail, both from what they knew and what Shunsui, Kisuke, and himself had gathered from their victims. Nori interrupted as she wanted, clarifying certain remarks. The white-haired captain talked long into the day, until his fellow captain caught onto the catch in his throat. Juushiro tried to wave it away, but she would have none of it. Juushiro relented and poured himself more tea, hoping that his friends would be prepared, suffer less, and come home from their rescue mission. And he would return to searching the archives and forbidden kido for a way to free Kurosaki. Before resorting to either last choice available to the captain commander or himself.

"Dawning Days" continued: Juushiro was also not in the Fourth Division but only because he had sworn to stay in his bed at his division headquarters. Or what remained of it. He had rested two of the three weeks that had passed but after hearing one too many cries of those searching for lost friends, he had decided he had to help in the best way he could, and the desolation of what had been his cheerful division was a good place to start. To gather a list and create obituaries for the dead. At first Isane had argued that this was definitely not work for him, but Juushiro had given her one of his enigmatic smiles and said one thing. “It’s time for me to let go, too.” The head healer shook her head before assigning Naomi - temporarily part of Fourth Division for her skills - as his personal assistant. To summon her if he got to be too much to handle. Juushiro had been glad for that. Since Naomi’s stubbornness reminded him that some of his foolish hope had held true. That some luck had stayed with them. She even had managed to keep that locket. It made the mourning of those he lost a little easier. Juushiro dipped his quill into his inkwell, listened to the ratter-tatter of the hammers nearby, and then continued to write below one of the names: Momo Hinamori -
Faithful with an air of innocence even after the betrayal wrought on her by the traitor Aizen, the war continued to mock her. And she - she stood tall against it. Her naivety turned into a heart of ever-flowing courage - hidden behind a book or responsibilities. She never abandoned Fifth Division. And we will not let our last memories of her be tainted by the horrible things that finally took her from us. He paused and a sad smile graced his face. Fade

"Dawning Days" continued:Pacing the beaten ground around his uncle’s garden, Sojiro kicked at a stone, sending it into the broken ornate pond nearby, his violet eyes flashing with rage. It was wrong. There was just so much that had been ruined, disgraced, or broken. Books, buildings, walls, walkways. People and families. Everything had been ripped apart. So why did they waste valuable time by cursing his family? Why did they want to hurt others still? He clenched his hands into fists and chucked another rocky into the dirty pond. “Who,” he hiccuped, “are they to judge?”
Daichi licked at his cheek. You need to talk to someone, the ferret whispered through their connection. Sojiro ducked his head and shook it furiously. No. No, he didn’t. He just needed to protect them. And get stronger. Where are you, Dad?! Sojiro screamed in the safety of his head, tears burning at his anger. It’s not fair!
