"You have always been the optimistic one, Izuru." She stepped up to him and linked her arm with his, and turned them both toward the office door.
"I guess if they think we are no longer worthy of our positions as captain and lieutenant, we can always try being an instructor at the academy."

Izuru flushed pink, giving a chuckle as she led him out of the office. He just hoped no one saw him linking arms with his captain. Especially anyone that he was close to. He'd never hear the end of it. "I'm glad you think so."
Izuru thought about what he would do if he lost his position as lieutenant of the Third Division. The academy was definitely an option. So much had happened that he wasn't sure what he was going to do regardless of whether or not he kept his position. So much had changed. They had changed. The tightening in his chest returned as he walked with Captain Mutsu down the hall. --END-- "Unbreakable"

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 426 "In the Loop": Division Three, the unit that is responsible for the act of sending out shinigami to gather information, and sometimes working in cooperation with Second Division agents on more serious missions. Third division is also the one that sorts all outgoing and incoming information before sending them to the Twelfth Division for storage. Adding to this, they are also in charge of the jigokuchou monitoring and message system.
So when one of Captain Kuchiki's agents came knocking with news about a double homicide coupled with a burglary, guess who ended up with more paperwork than she wanted?
Nori sighed as she flipped through page after page of information on evidence that was found--or not found--at the crime scene. She was writing notes and making them clearer for anyone else who might want to look back on the reports for help in finding a suspect. However, this was a pretty open-and-shut case. It was the same M.O they always saw with this group--the removal of their victim's heads--which pointed straight at a group of assassins that have plagued the Gotei for centuries.
However, their M.O had changed up in the last few months. At least that is what one would want you to believe. Past reports proved that wrong and an untrained eye would not have known. One would have thought the group just got tired of killing--only--and decided to start robbing their victims after they killed them, but not all the assassins victims were robbed. Only the ones considered--what a thief would call--'A large haul'. None of the others were robbed. Which told Nori, the group of assassins were being targeted--just like the victims they killed.
However, the question was--which crime took place first? The theft or the murders? And why was it only choice coincidences? Not all the hits the assassins did were robbed. So what was the connection between all this? As Nori sat in thought jotting down notes a knock echoed through her office.
"Come in," Nori called out not taking her eyes from her paperwork.

Izuru stepped into his captain's office, pulling down his hood and bowing deeply to her. "Captain Mutsu. I have reports from my interviews with potential witnesses in the Nobles Quarter."
Nori looked up at her lieutenant with a soft sigh and grabbed a clean tablet of paper. "Let's hear it." She sat back in her chair ready to start writing. One thing she could say about Lieutenant Izuru was he was precise with his information and sometimes could announce it faster than she could write it all down. "Go slow though," she sighed again. "All this paperwork is starting to get to me."
Izuru gave her a sympathetic smile and nodded. He pulled out a notepad from his shihakusho. Truth be told, all of the workload on this was difficult to keep track of for him as well, and he had been working this division for decades. "First up on the block, the Suwara family. Small, lesser noble family, like myself. My parents knew them from long ago, actually." He cleared his throat and scratched his cheek. "Ahem. Sorry. Not important. Anyway, they reported seeing someone new walking the path regularly, though they couldn't report any sort of schedule accurately. Just that it was at least three times a week they saw this person."
He looked up and waited for his captain to finish writing and look up at him as well before he continued. He read off of his notes once more. "They believe it was a young girl. Dressed well. Definitely noble as well. They also report something that all of the families on the block corroborate."

Nori continued to write as she spoke to her lieutenant. "What might that be, lieutenant Kira?"
"They all report that the unfamiliar girl had short purple hair," Izuru nodded. "They were all adamant that it was a girl with purple hair..." He hesitated, then hummed, shaking his head. "Well, the elder of the Oikawa family was pretty adamant it was a boy with purple hair, but he seems to be the outlier and his vision isn't in the best condition either."
Nori looked up at her lieutenant as she gently tapped the end of the pencil on her chin, "Hmm..." she continued looking on at Izuru, "Was there any evidence or witnesses that might have placed this...young girl or boy at or around the Konoba manor?"
"Unfortunately, it was raining cats and dogs last night," Izuru shook his head. He flipped through his notepad. "These people are pros. They planned it specifically for last night. It was coming down so hard that you could barely see out of your windows. Visibility was poor and the thunder masked any sounds."
"So that proves my theory," she looked off into the nothingness of the room. "but why are they robbing these nobles before the assassins kill them?" she glanced at Izuru. "Why wouldn't they wait until the assassins have killed their target? It's less work for the robbers. All they would have to do is walk in take what the want and get out." She sat up quickly and turned to face her desk. "There has to be something here." She started thumbing through papers again. "I had to have missed something. What is missing?"

Izuru hummed and tapped his thumb on this notepad. He walked up to his captain's desk and sat down in one of the chairs in front of it. "I agree. There's something that either has been found and we're overlooking, or something that hasn't been found that needs to be."
He leafed through his notes, examining all the details he wrote down. "Maybe someone slipped up somewhere. Or we might have to hope for a slip up. As good as these guys are, we need to be going over each scene with a fine tooth comb. Anything that's out of place or missing or something that looks like it's from the outside."
"That's going to be difficult," Nori shook her head. "Apparently they found a kimono in the laundry chute. There was a strong smell of bleach coming from the laundry hamper. Whoever this was, they ditched what they were wearing and doused it with bleach to destroy all the evidence. Hair strands, the color of the kimono, pattern, labels. All of it. And they used bleach from the closet where the first body was found, most likely. There were extra bottles in the closet. So they're resourceful too. They bring only what is needed and leave no trace of them ever being there. And what they do leave, they destroy beyond recognition."
"They're bound to leave something. Something small they wouldn't consider," Izuru sighed, shaking his head. "This will crack eventually. I know it. We may not get them this time, but we will in the future. Next time we'll be ready for them. Each piece of the puzzle they leave us gives us a better picture."

Nori sat back in her chair once more and looked at Izuru. "What do you think the assassins think when they make it to their location and find their victims bound and gagged?" She looked down at the papers then back at Izuru. "They have to be wondering if someone is setting them up.""Probably embarrassment. Mixed with reluctant gratitude. They are making their job easier after all. Though if Second Division and the Stealth Force are anything to go by, assassins live for the thrill of the hunt," Izuru nodded slowly. "They probably consider it a dishonor. Or they're afraid they're next." Nori nodded slowly as a knock echoed through the office, "come in," she invited them in then went back to her conversation with her lieutenant. "My thoughts are whoever is doing this is setting the assassins up for something." As the office door closed, Nori and Izuru looked to see Lieutenant Abarai sliding the door closed behind him.
"Lieutenant Abarai," Nori greeted."Captain Mutsu, Izuru," he bowed to the lady captain."Renji," Izuru greeted his fellow lieutenant with a nod of head."Do you have more reports for us?" Nori questioned as she straightened the papers and reports scattered across her desk."No," Renji shook his head. "I was kinda hoping you might have seen something in the reports we missed. You got a keen eye, Captain Mutsu, and catch the stuff we overlook."Nori sighed shaking her head. "Nothing that's not already written down here, but I do have a theory."Renji raised a curious brow, walked over, and sat in the chair next to Izuru. "Do share, Captain. We need all the help we can get on this."Nori nodded and sat forward at her desk. She then started explaining to Renji what she and Izuru were talking about moments before he came calling at her office door.~END RP~ "Fragile! This Side Up!"
