Shunsui blinked at her before his eyes narrowed and he pushed her away. “Then all I need are more bottles,” he stated quietly, lifting the bottle back to his lips and drinking it even faster. He finished it off and set it on the barely-standing desk, hard. Creaking, the desk broke, spilling paperwork and causing an old green clay cup to roll down. Shunsui caught it in his hands. Yamamoto’s cup.
He closed his eyes. "I'm sorry, master. I can't even protect him."

Ryo frowned as she stumbled back. She shunpo'd over to him. Grabbing him by his haori, she slammed him down into his seat. "Wallow in your pity, Shunsui! Drink away your sorrows. Become the disappointment you think you are." She slid her arms out of the sleeves of her haori and looked down at the Captain Commander. "I won't stop you." She knelt down, placing her hand beneath his chin and raising his head. "But, if you put your hands on me again, I will set your pitiful ass on fire." She smiled warmly and stood.

“I should have confined him to bed rest longer,” Shunsui muttered, still holding the cup. He completely ignored the other captain’s entrance and exit. “I should have said good-bye to Nanao when she wanted to follow me. She would have been safe in eighth division.” He chuckled dryly. “I should have stolen that kiss when I had her pressed against the desk, too. I’m sure I could have handled the glare afterwards.” He picked up another bottle and drunk some more, but thankfully, it wasn’t as strong as the first. He rambled onwards. “The family could have kept Juu-chan at his mansion or Isane could have tied him down. We still needed him." He looked down into his bottle.
“I still need them.”

"And, what use to them are you in a drunken stupor?" she asked, taking the bottle from his hand. "We all lose things, Shunsui. Lt. Ise and Captain Ukitake are not dead. He won't kill them. Fight for them instead of sitting here drinking until you find your answer at the bottom of a bottle." Ryo sat on the floor in front of him, and placed a gentle hand on his. "You have eleven other Captains behind you, Shunsui."

The captain commander lowered his head, hiding his face behind his wide-brimmed hat. "What if I am no longer worthy of those captains?" he asked, no longer reaching for the bottle.

Ryo frowned and raised her hand, slapping him hard across the face. She snatched his hat from his head so that she could see him. "We do not fight for you, Captain Commander. We fight with you. And, we would not fight with you, if we deemed you unworthy. So, shut the hell up and get yourself together. Now."

Shunsui chuckled quietly, a smirk going over his face. “You hit hard, Captain Hirabayashi,” he murmured, looking up with twinkling eyes, “but I think my lieutenant hits harder.” He stood up and took his hat from her hands, placing it back on his head. As she glared at him, he winked. “Come on, Ryo-chan, as if I would get drunk on simple sake. It’s the best way to contemplate my retaliation. If I were drunk, how would I use it so well?”

Ryo stood and walked over to his liquor cabinet. "Then you won't mind, would you?" She drew her zanpakuto and pointed it at the cabinet filled with his precious drink. She glanced over her shoulder and winked. "Sekijouten!" She swung her blade as a wave of heat released towards the cabinet. Every ounce of liquid evaporated and the glass bottles melted, spilling and pooling on the floor.
She sheathed her blade as she turned and walked passed the Captain Commander. "You didn't need that, did you?" She sat down in his seat and smiled. "Now, what do you have planned?"

Shunsui chuckled and scratched his chin. “That was rather cruel of you, Ryo,” he murmured, leaning against the balcony, head clearing from his buzz. “I could make you pay for that, but then again, I did push you and a gentleman never pushes a lady unless there’s some splendid sex involved. “ Ryo smiled pleasantly, a warning in her eyes. The captain commander laughed lightly and stooped over the mess of the cabinet, pulling open a secret drawer beneath and pulling a rolled-up piece of parchment out. He unrolled it over the leg of his broken desk. “After Kisuke brings me his updated map, I am going to storm Las Noches, my dear, and I am going to drain his espada dry while I rescue our people.” He pointed to the formula on the piece of paper then and then rolled it back up before burning it up. “Even Sousuke will have trouble combatting that without Yumiko on his side.”

She leaned back in his chair. "There may be a problem with your plan, Shunsui. He has a new Seventh Espada. Koga, I believe they called him. He claims to be able to see time. The past. The present. The future. And, all simultaneously. It seems incredibly overwhelming. But, he was able to take down Sajin." She looked to the Captain Commander. "He'll know you're coming."

Shunsui chuckled. “Seeing and destroying are two different things,” he stated quietly, “and even seers aren’t all-seeing. He picked up some gravel from a plant by his lieutenant’s door and walked over to the puddle of liquor. “Drop one pebble and you can watch it grow into many easily,” he explained. “Drop all of them,” and here, the commander tipped his hand into the puddle creating numerous waves and ripples, “and you can no longer see as clearly. You may try to prevent one from overflowing and miss the one which will cause the flood.”

Ryo nodded. She looked to the Captain Commander and smiled. "I suppose we should start preparing, then. Sousuke Aizen will be expecting us to move. But, with this I think we can win. A victory is long over due. What of Yumiko Ryouma? He may come for her. How have you planned against that?"

Shunsui sighed. "I have and I really hope she understands." He looked over the balcony then back at Ryo. "That is another reason I am waiting for my messenger to get to Urahara. No one can hide from Sousuke like he has. Hiding her is the safest thing for her and the best option for that is through him. Not," he emphasized, "Soul Society."

"I would have to agree." replied Ryo. She slid her arm back into the sleeves of her haori. "You seem to have everything situated." She stepped onto the balcony and looked over the railing. "Can we switch offices, Shunsui?"

Shunsui chuckled and left the room to find some cleaning materials. Coming back with a mop and broom, he started to clean up the spilled alcohol and shards of clay and glass. "You know," he paused, "I might consider it if you would deal with Central and all the nobles. Ready for that, Captain Hirabayashi?" he inquired, tone nonchalant.
