Okay, so maybe they WEREN'T doing paperwork. Still, Tsukiro felt uneasy as he and Hisagi followed the captain commander. Whatever it was, he planned on having them accomplish it together.
He stared at the back of Kyoraku's head, trying to figure out what he was thinking.

With Juushiro in the back the Captain Commander led Tsukiro and Hisagi in a roundabout tour of the first division's winding hallways before taking them outside to a courtyard. He stretched and turned to them both. "Let's stretch your legs first. Follow me and try not to get faint by using shunpo too fast." Winking, the Captain Commander vanished, leaving a trail of his reiatsu behind him.

Juushiro chuckled and patted both of the men on their shoulders. "You don't want to waste all your energy following him," he suggested quietly, "but if you wait, you'll lose the trail." Both gave him very confused looks, but at his words, Lieutenant Shuuei nodded, leaping into shunpo. Muttering under his breath about this being a piece of cake, Tsukiro followed. Juushiro monitered their speed from behind as he followed his friend to the empty clearing below Sokyoku Hill. Continued |

"Cornering a Fox":Shunsui was gazing out at Seireitei when the hell butterfly found him. He let it alight on his finger and listened closely to its message. His eyes burned behind his hat. "Nanao-chan, I leave the office to you." Discarding the ornate kimono, he disappeared from the balcony in a hush of shunpo. Follow the hunt

"Summoned":
Ichigo ran up the stairs of the first division and through the barracks. The Soul Reapers of the division gave him confused and shocked looks as he ran past. He ran to Kyoraku's office and burst through the doors.
"We have a big problem! Shunsui, you have to come back to Karakura with me! Aizen is taking Rangiku!" |

The Captain Commander chuckled shortly as his guards gaped at the substitute's lack of formalities. "Why did he take Matsumoto, Ichigo-kun? I doubt you'd rush if it was only because of another kidnapping." "Juushiro said to make sure you came, sir," he huffed, voice slightly more respectful. Shunsui eyes narrowed. "Then I suppose it's time." He rose. "Nanao-chan?" "Yes, sir!" "You're in charge while I am away," he ordered and glanced over his shoulder at her. "I shouldn't be gone long. The inevitable has happened." "I understand, sir. Good luck." Shunsui tipped his hat. "Yes, ma'am." He turned back to Ichigo. "Let's go, kid." |

"Filling the Ranks":
The captain commander glanced up from his desk then stood as the door which led to the underground training facility opened, revealing his best friend and Captain Kuchiki, both looking mildly winded and singed. Ryo Hirabayashi entered after them, putting her arms through the haori of the Ninth Division. Shunsui chuckled.
"Well, I'm glad we could find a replacement for Koriyama-san in such a short time."
He offered a seat to the new captain and turned his attention to Juushiro, who laughed lightly. |

"You don't have to study me that closely, old friend," Juushiro called over, rubbing the back of his head. "If that was your test to see if I am still well, I think I passed it." He chuckled and wiped his face. "Hirabayashi-san's zanpakuto can make the environment rather hot. That's all." |

Shunsui laughed shortly and tipped his hat at his new captain. "I hope you have no doubts, my dear. The Koriyama clan took my captain at a bad time. There's a lot of work to be done by you."

Ryo smiled gently as she looked to Juushiro. "Surely, you can handle a little heat, Captain." She looked at the Captain Commander, bowing her head slightly. "It is an honor, Captain Commander. I thank you for your consideration."

Shunsui nodded. “The gratitude should come from me. Filling captains’ seats is a difficult process and Koriyama’s heir falling ill meant one emptier place. I’m glad it’s full.” He looked down at his desk. "I wish it meant less paperwork, though."

Juushiro laughed before coughing into his hand. He smiled as they all peered at him. "It's dust from the testing, I'm sure," he stated, showing the clean hand. Then he turned to their new comrade. "There is no need to be so formal with me, Hirabayashi. We are both captains, and I for one, don't feel there is need for you to address me by my title." |

Ryo nodded. "My apologies, Capt-...Juushiro." She tucked her hair behind her left ear. "So, Captain Commander...My first orders as Captain, what are they?" Ryo was quite eager to get started in her new role. She looked at her fellow captains. "Koriyama will be missed. But, I assure you, I will do my best!"

A guard came to the door of the study and looked to the captain commander. Shunsui nodded and he bowed out again. He turned to Hirabayashi. "First of all, we get this promotion ceremony over with and then, I want you to do two things." He stood. "Talk to your lieutenant about former third seat Ashimitsu. Get his understanding of his fighting patterns and what makes him tick. Shuuei will know those things."
He started forward. "The boy has started moving, taking over the Stealth Force at last, and I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to pay me a visit. When he does, I intend to send him your way, Captain. You're good at reading into things and digging into people's minds. You and he are going to face off and see if that kid has had any improvement in his mind set or if he's just moving blindly"
She nodded. "And the second job?" she asked.
Shunsui gave a wicked grin and nudged his best friend. "After the ceremony, make sure this one goes for a checkup. I'd rather be sure not just take his word on such an important subject as his health is."
