Kisuke nodded as his eyes suddenly widened and his look became stern and serious. He spun quickly as one word slipped out of his mouth.
"KITA!"
Before the two could reply Kisuke was gone from the room.
He then reappeared peeking around the door frame, adjusting his hat to look at Kyoraku and Juushiro. He wore a wide smile as he told them.
"Thanks for last night. It's been a long time." He waved at them from the wrist in a comical way. "We need to do that more often, old friends." His smile then turned more serious. "Off to check on my Seraph. I'll be in touch!" His last statement was said as he was running down the hall to leave.

Juushiro chuckled weakly and let himself lean on his friend. "What will he do to her, Shunsui?"

"We'll find out soon enough," his life-long friend murmured in turn then looked down at his distraught friend. "Don't go thinking the worse, Juu-chan. Sousuke will want her alive and healthy if he plans on using her powers. She's a strong person. Even if she realizes what has happened to her, she won't break that easily. If she would have, she would have when being locked away here." He looked out at the little room with the sun shining in from the skylight. "We made a mistake hiding her this long." Juushiro made a noise of agreement and pulled away. He sent a small smile his direction. The Captain Commander nodded at him. "Get some rest, old friend. You never sleep well when we're at a party." Juushiro nodded and together they walked out. The door closed a bit too sharply behind them.

"The Promise of Unconditional Love":Appearing silently, Misao watched the young woman in the room as she tended to potted flowers in front of a window. The young woman spoke gently to the flowers, gently caressing the leaves and turning the pot. Misao stepped from the shadows, running a hand through his white hair. He bowed slightly, bringing a hand to his chest.
"Yumiko Ryouma." he spoke softly, rising from his bow. "I am Misao, a god of death."Yumiko placed her hands in her lap and bowed her head. "Have you come about Captains Kyoraku and Ukitake?" Misao looked to the woman curiously. "I'm afraid not. I am here for another matter. May I?" he asked, pointed to the seat next to hers. The woman nodded as he took the seat. "Tell me, why are you here?"

“Because it hurt to be around people,” she muttered, looking down to the lilies she had picked up. “I … I didn’t want to lose any more people. I didn’t want to be that vulnerable. And it … the pain would only get worse….. I had to disappear. Or I …” she lowered her hand back to her lap. “I was scared where I would run.”

"So, once again, you've chosen to run away from your problems?" asked Misao, resting his hands to his knees. "That has never, nor will it ever, benefit you. Being vulnerable does not mean you're weak, Yumiko Ryouma."
"I did not say that it did." replied Yumiko.
"But, that is why you've come here. You feared further disappointment and pain. What if I could give you something that would cause that fear to subside?"

Yumiko sighed and stood up, walking back into the center of the room. “The pain was eating me alive, and I feared that if I reached out to anyone else… they would be gone. Either, they would be dead, or….” She fell silent.
“I disappeared to try and find a way to be stronger…” She rubbed her wrists. “I wanted to go back. Find why … why-”
She sighed. “I apologize. What is it that you wish to give me? and why?"

"A child." answered Misao, raising a hand over a pot of flowers. One of the flowers began to wilt as his hand hovered over it. "This child will be part of a new breed of Soul Reaper, purposed with protecting the Soul Society. This child will be yours to nurture and guide."
"A...A child?" Yumiko shook her head. "No."
"This child will be known as an Eva."
"An Eva?"
Misao nodded. "You are familiar with them. You did have a relationship with an Eva son of the god Shinsato."

“I apologize, but you’re mistaken, my lord. If either Aizen or Tervaden were part god, they kept it from me.” She looked to the wilting flower, her hand clenching. “It wouldn’t surprise me, though.”
“The Eva you had a relationship with was Vale Tervaden, born and restored as Seto Tetsuya.”
“I see…” A bitter smile flittered across her lips. “Another secret.” She closed her eyes for a moment and then looked back to the god. “I don’t see why I would be a good mother. I’ve lost everything I tried to care for.” She looked down again, setting a hand on her zanpakuto. “it might be better if I were alone."

"A secret that not even he knew." Misao tilted his head as he lowered his hand slightly over the flower. The flower began to straighten and grow, as it had never began to decay. "Why do you favor despair? Even when given the opportunity to have a peace very few will know, you shun it as if it is the only thing you are capable of. You are a sad, miserable woman."
Misao looked to the woman, her hand still resting on her zanpakuto. "Take my offer."

Yumiko stayed silent for a few moments. “I’m not miserable, just coming to terms of what I wrought. As far as peace, I’ve known two. One was an illusion that was slowing stripping away my will, and the other….” she looked to the flower, “faded as soon as the war touched its borders. I don’t know what you mean by saying I could have peace few know. Will you tell me what you mean? Please?"

"Raising an Eva, the child of a god, is a gift. Very few people will know the wonder of such a thing." He raised his hand, as the woman parted her lips to speak. "The Eva are being created to help defend the Soul Society. A terror, far worse than expected, is coming. And, the Eva are as far as the gods are willing to intervene."
"Willing to intervene? The gods-"
"The gods have come to realize that our watchful eye has done more harm than good. You all rely on our existence and intervention. But, the Soul King has decided..." Misao lowered his gaze. "I have already said too much. Yumiko Ryouma, I have chosen you to bear my child. You must learn to love freely, without hesitation or concern. A child is your remedy."

Yumiko lowered her head, considering his words. Could she do that? Love freely again? She closed her eyes. She didn’t want to be hurt again. And yet, try as she might, she couldn’t give it up completely. Hope. A certain ring glimmered in her head. She let the image, of that particular ache, fade away again and turned back to the God. “Thank you for sharing what you have with me and for aiding us. And I…” She hesitated and then bowed her head again before continuing in a low murmur. ‘I’ll trust to your wisdom and bear your child, Lord Misao.”

Misao looked to the woman, a curious smile tugging on his lips. "I expected some hesitation from you, Yumiko Ryouma. You surprise me." Misao rose from the floor and walked over to the woman, extending a hand to her. "Contrary to what thoughts rattle about in your mind, this will help ease your heart and mind. You will make a wonderful mother to the child of a god."
Yumiko placed her hand in the god's. "Why me? Why did you choose me?"
Misao smiled at the woman. "You have a greater need for an unconditional love than any other my eyes fell upon. This is to aid you more than anyone else."

Throat catching at Misao’s soft words, Yumiko closed her eyes and swallowed. The soothing whisper in his tone tugged at the throbbing pieces of her heart, bringing flashes of the numbing pain she'd tempered back to the surface. What she thought she'd controlled. Taking another breath, Yumiko blinked away the pinpricks of tears and offered the God who had chosen her a faint smile.
"Thank you..."
