Shunsui sat on the steps of his room in the Kyoraku mansion, sipping sake from a saucer. On top of everything else, now that he was Head Captain it was even harder to dismiss his family's pressures of being a better head of the family, marriage to a suitable woman, making more alliances, listening to Central. He finished that cup. Listening to Central was really starting to irritate him, and Shunsui Kyoraku didn't get mad easily. But was his compromise even possible? He stroked his chin, considering the article in question.

Seeing the frown on his friend's face, Juushiro raised his hand, bidding the servant to leave them. She bowed and turned back down the patio. Juushiro sat down by his old friend and poured them each another round of sake.
"I hear you may have found a solution to our problem," he prompted quietly.

Shunsui hummed in thought. "Maybe," he grunted, "there are some perimeters that need to be checked." He turned his head towards his captain friend seated beside him. "Considering what we now know about the past, Aizen's tricks and all that, do you think Central considers Yoruichi to still be noble?"

Juushiro lowered his cup. "I'm not sure. Even if Central did accuse Tessai and Kisuke wrongly, she still rescued them right under their noses almost as if it were a game." He turned to his friend. "I don't think they'll forgive that one in a hurry. Why do you ask?"

Shunsui sighed. "The circumstances are usually different but there's an old loophole that we may be able to exploit with the right people on our side." He let that sink in and continued, "Remember that old tradition where a noble can be placed under another noble's care when they reach their maturity?'

Juushiro nodded slowly. "I remember, yes. Usually it was used to curtail the growth of too much power in the family." He started then smiled. "It's Kisuke you're thinking about again, isn't it? You were thinking that we could move her to the shop through Yoruichi and Kisuke, in all his brilliance, would figure out how to break the seal without being given the keys. She'd be free but it wouldn't be explicitly against Central's orders."
His mood sobered a minute later. "But isn't that method used with the family's heirs? She's -"

"- no longer considered as such," Shunsui finished and lowered his hat over his eyes. "Therein lies our problem. Her parents stopped seeing her ages ago. They haven't cut ties completely in case she becomes useful again, but that's about all the contact they maintain with her. She's a way to keep Central pleased."

Juushiro's eyes narrowed in consideration. "It's close enough. There's got to be a way we can use it."

"I believe so, too," he chuckled, took a sip of the sake, and cracked a grin. "Still, Kisuke would say we're wasting our time with these old rules. Just break them."

Juushiro chuckled. "That would be another reason Central is glad he decided to stay in Karakura Town in the end. He's become a rebel." Placing his saucer down, he stood up. "I'll get the volumes in question. Sometimes other nobles can bend their own system, you're correct there, we just have to figure out how."

Kisuke walked behind one of the servants as they led him to the Captain Commander. He smiled and bowed slightly to Kyoraku and Ukitake as they sat sharing a drink.
"Hello, Captains. Old friends. It's been a while."

Shunsui grinned. "Just the man I was thinking about. Sit down, Kisuke. I want to bend the ear of a rebel," he waved the servant away after setting down a tray of refreshments. "Juushiro, wait on the books."

Juushiro nodded and sat down again. "It's good to see you again, Kisuke. What brings you here?"

Kisuke smiled and sat down with his old friends. "It seems we have an issue that I need to discuss with you." He paused with a sigh.
"It seems Aizen has made his move. He has taken the young Kurosaki girl Karin and I believe Orihime." He adjusted his hat and hid behind it. "And I am now in fear for the young Seraph I have had under my care and very watchful eye for the last eight years."
