Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 456 "White Knight's Resolution": (continued) Shunsui stood at the window of Juushiro's usual medical room, eyes narrowed as he considered the news that Ichimaru, also in the room, had brought. Huddled in a bed nearby, Juushiro coughed fitfully but stayed conscious. His best friend had nearly fallen from the sky from a sudden onslaught of his illness after using his Bankai, but fortunately, he had been nearby, half expecting that his friend would attempt something like this next time something disturbed the peace of Soul Society. In fact, it was a bit difficult for even Isane to chew him out in his present state. How did you start on a man who was smiling with clear eyes despite the hard bloody coughs riddling his body? When it was clear that he’d accomplished something greater than the price of that task? He certainly couldn’t. Then again, he winced as another cough shook his friend’s shoulders. “Perhaps we should save more discussion on this matter for later, Juu-chan,” he murmured. “It’s not getting any easier for you to keep fighting against the flow to keep up with us.”

Juushiro shook his head, lowering his bloody handkerchief. His haori and kimono were stained red from the initial attack and his green eyes remained narrowed in concentration.. “I’ll manage for a bit longer. There are still- still questions to be asked. The worst of it is always the first.”
He’d already sent Isane, Naomi, and even Yumiko away to help others to prove his point. He couldn’t treat his illness as the same handicap as he always had at this point. If he truly was gifted with immortality to protect more people, he’d do everything he can. He had lived with the price of his illness for generations. If it wouldn’t take his life — and cut his dreams short — he’d accept the terrible weakness and pain for the better of all.
It was what he had done for so long. His decision only pushed the envelope further.
"Are you sure?" his friend asked.
Juushiro looked over and nodded. "Com-completely," he declared with some difficulty.

Gin shrugged. It didn’t matter either way if the white-haired captain stayed awake or passed out. He knew that his wife kept him in high regard — nearly everyone did — but he never saw eye to eye with the man. He didn’t think he ever would. He wouldn’t deny that the captain possessed willpower, but perhaps his suffering just seemed too little compared to his own resolution so long ago.
However, he needed to pick his brain while his wife was still away. “I have to say that despite all your questions, both of you, that you’re as surprised as the shopkeeper about this little disastrous development. I have to wonder why that is.”
“You’re still young, Ichimaru,” the commander answered for his friend as he coughed yet again. “It’s rare, extremely rare, for the balance to be disrupted but I’ve wondered if the war with Aizen would push the realms overboard ever since Kita got involved. She is connected to the gods after all."
Juushiro took over. “The attack after the last war, the bombing, seemed close- close enough but the balance was stayed by the Quincy step- stepping in. Something won’t always reset the balance before the realms buckle.”
“And the realms showing wear is what set off the first Quincy and Soul Reaper war,” the commander finished. “No compromise could be found and we were out of time.”
Gin leaned against the wall, his squinted eyes sharp. "So is the quake the end or will we see more of this after the realms calm down?"

The commander adjusted his hat. “It depends on how long the effects on Hueco Mundo last and if nothing else happens there. There’s a reason why some Bankais either destroy their users or take such a high toll on the person wielding them. They’re dangerous.”
“Well, of course they are, but that doesn’t answer my question,” the snake pointed out. “You’re not talking to Kita here, old man. I know all about the powers of zanpakuto. I’m asking about specifics, and I have my own blade here if you’re going to give riddles. In case you’re unaware, there are kids involved if things get more dicey.”
Shunsui ignored the flippant threat. “I’m sure Kisuke already suspects this, but at the very least, Hollow attacks will increase for the foreseeable future. So keep your blade sharp.”
“It always is~”
“I’d ask Kisuke and the Kurosakis to keep an eye on Evita as well.”
Shunsui looked to his Juushiro. "Aizen's daughter? Why?"

"Evita was created as part hollow and part human. Both are the most adaptable life forces in these realms. If the realms," he paused, suppressing another wave of weakness, "are going to be feeling any effects from this, something could happen to her, especially if-if there are going to be more Hollows around Karakura. In the first war, Ichigo's growth gave powers to his friends, and that's why Aizen chose her to be human in the first place."
Shunsui rubbed the scar above his eye. "I forgot that she's about the same age now." He looked to Ichimaru. "Same with your kid. But now you're raising two." He indicated the sling.
Gin scoffed, waving his hand. "The Hollows won't get close to either. Ichigo's no slouch at protecting. His sister is antsy. And Vacanze is back. His appetite will need to be fed. That says nothing about my mood."
The commander chuckled. "Well, that's a good thing. News of Vacanze, that is. I'll keep any thought of your mood to myself. But here I was starting to wonder if my favorite Hollow bit the dust when I didn't hear any news about him."
"I'll let him know you cared~"
"I just like it when someone's entertaining," the commander retorted. "He can run as fast as Ichigo-san when faced with a certain threat."
Juushiro closed his eyes as his friend started his antics.

Kita entered the room where Juushiro had taken up residency since his foolishness of using his Bankia. When she entered she looked right at Juushiro with a displeased look in her eyes. She started a path toward him as the man started coughing. It was rough and deep in his chest, this only making Kita narrow her eyes. She was so disappointed in what he had done she did not even realize Kyoraku and Gin were in the room with him.
"I know your called the White Knight for your humility, loyalty, and courage, but last time I checked Knights were not fools, and knew when they needed to retreat because of imminent death."
Juushiro gave her a warm welcoming smile as she lectured him and he was about to speak and welcome her when she raised her hand and silenced him.
"Just sit there and let me heal you," his mouth opened and she hushed him, "no talking." She demanded of him.

Yumichika leaned against the door as Kita went on to lecture Captain Ukitake of all people, even calling him a fool and then silencing him before he could explain. Although none of the details would be new to the smiling captain, it was always a sight to see another person try to tell the man to take care of himself. Even his captain had muttered that things would be boring if Ukitake kicked the bucket. But even if this was a sight to enjoy, he couldn’t help being surprised. She’d always been so gentle with her healing in the past. Even when they had first returned to Soul Society. Yet now, here she was taking charge and putting them in their place. When she was in a sling and cast nonetheless.
It seemed to him that Kita was slowly changing again -- and this time for the better.
“And you’re no better, Kyoraku! I know you could have stopped him!”
He blinked, getting flashbacks to someone else, as the snake at the window snickered.
Captain Retsu Uohana.
Scary coincidences.

Shunsui lowered his hat as Miyamoto started on her tirade, wondering if he should make a quick retreat, but she turned to him as quickly as he started on his friend. He smirked from behind his cover. There was nothing more beautiful — or terrifying — as a woman on a mission for those she cared for.
“Sorry, Kita-chan, for disappointing you, but I think I’d fail this time if I tried. But I couldn’t stop him. There are times a bird needs to fall to soar.”
His smile only grew as he sensed her ire growing before it disappeared completely with the interjection of his best friend, his voice now clear, not garbled, hoarse or halting from his weakness.
“I wouldn’t have let him, Kita. Please take a seat and calm down. It’s alright. I’m alright. Despite how dire it looks, I made the decision to take this step after much thought. It wasn’t an impulsive move."
“It’s better than you using it on the fiend Teruo, that’s for sure,” the commander added before lowering his hat again. Kita had sprung up again. “Oh dear….”
He should have kept that to himself.

Kita looked between the two men, "Sada?! One of Darwin's grabbag creatures?" She exhaled loudly shaking her head, "someone needs to kill that--thing." She quickly looked back at Juushiro with a sternness in her eyes, "but not you."
"Nor you, dearie~" Gin quipped.
Kita's head shook, "Sada scares me."
"He will meet his demise soon, dearest, one way or another, if he keeps dancing around us. No one's in a cage anymore."
The commander continued. "I don't know who Darwin is, but if Juushiro can use his Bankai to its full extent, even to fall afterwards due to its use, it might turn the tide against him," Shunsui murmured. "Not that we will be hoping to try it for some time."
"Or any time if he will stay in Hueco Mundo," Juushiro continued, taking her good hand. "I am not going on a hunting spree, Kita, even with my new status. But I will not stand by and watch if something threatens this realm. I was given this immortality for a purpose. I won't waste it."
Kita sighed, "I know I will never be able to stop you, but will you at least please contact me after the fact so I can come stop your suffering." She watched as Juushiro smiled and nodded his head slowly, "thank you." her attention turned back to Kyoraku.
"Now. Can someone please tell me what happened here and about what time this happened?"

"Well, dearie," Gin called back, "it seems that Vale tipped the balance of the realms. Just so~" Kadaj fussed drawing Gin's attention away from the others.
"So I take Gin told you what I found in Hueco Mundo?" She watched as Kyoraku nodded.
"He told me and Kisuke contacted me this morning with his own information and theories," Shunsui pulled out a chair for Kita to sit. "In the late evening, both Soul Society and the human realm suffered spontaneous changes. You experienced the storm in Karakura. In Soul Society, it was a small natural disaster, a good-sized quake. That, in turn, set off fires and knocked buildings down. However, the casualties weren't as bad as could be expected. We're still restless after the way the war ended, so our response to the disaster was swift. The first tremor set everything off, and it continued to radiate outwards for some time before a second quake that ripped the ground open. The ground heals quickly here, so the worst was the buildings unable to withstand the tremors and the fires. We're getting people out of the affected areas and searching for any trapped. Fortunately, most aren't panicking because we reacted quickly. When a third quake started, that's when Juushiro used his Bankai. It's been quiet since and the 12th Division is watching for anything new."
Kita nodded. "So if he talked to you, I am guessing he got ahold of Isshin and family?"
"I told Kisuke to inform former captain Isshin, but I told him to stay put. No one is moving their assess from the shop as long as Aizen is under their roof. I don't care if things are as dire as me being on my deathbed. Containing Aizen is the priority."
"I appreciate that, but please, do you know what happened to Seto?"
Shunsui shook his head. "It's too early to say, but I wouldn't say he is dead. No zanpakuto of a dead soul reaper is that responsive. I think it's safe to say with the description of Hueco Mundo that he caused this imbalance with the second level of his Bankai but that is as far as I can guess at this time. The effects of that attack will wear off. They're not permanent."

Juushiro nodded as Kita looked to him next. “I agree with Shunsui’s assessment, and I’m the one who’s most familiar with him in the Gotei. I was his opponent in the Captain’s testing, and we both agreed to the banning of his full Bankai beyond those chambers with the late commander unless the circumstances were dire.” Kadaj fussed and Gin wrapped an arm around the sling to satisfy him but tried to keep his attention on the topic at hand, despite the child wrapping his hand around his finger. Again. “So you’ve seen that attack?” he asked, though most of the initial bite in his tone had faded as the kid sucked on his skin. “I think he’s hungry, dearie.”
As Kita walked over and tickled her son’s hand, Shunsui smiled at the sight. “Kid’s got you beat, Ichimaru." Yumichika chuckled quietly from his place at the door. "With everything that's happened, I'd say that’s a good thing. Children make women bloom." He glanced over to the infamous snake, wondering how far he could push this meeting. "Why can't it be good for men?" Gin scoffed at the attention. “Do I get my question answered?”
Juushiro gave another nod, eyes amused. “No I did not see that attack, but I went through the first level as you did. Briefly. Its the reason I was sent after the man after he turned on us. Not many can take the pain of that environment — if he used it.” “And you can?” Gin pressed, partly annoyed now. Kita elbowed him.
“To an extent, yes,” Juushiro murmured, “if need be and if I had been healthy at the point in time.” Gin’s retort was drowned out as the siren started screaming around them, followed by more shaking. Juushiro made to rise, but his friend pushed him down. “Stay with Miyamoto and the kid this time. I’m done with them poking holes in my realm,” the commander growled. He left before more could be said. - END RP - “Seed”

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 459 “Words of Warning”: Quickly with Kadaj in her arms, Kita went to Juushiro’s bedside, but as quickly as the alarms sounded, they stopped, but the sounds of people clamoring and rushing around were still very apparent. “Kita…”Kita heard in her mind, but quickly looked around the room with a confused look, “Why are you here?”"Kita, What's wrong?" Kita paid no mind to Juushiro as she wondered why Sumi was there. “You’re in danger.”The earth shook again, but only a small tremor, just enough to get your attention. Kita grabbed the edge of Juushiro's bed to help keep her balance. “You think?” Kita’s tone sarcastic. “Leave.” She demanded of the Goddess. “I don’t need you.”"Kita, who are you talking to? You don't mean the goddess, Sumi, do you?" Kita had ignored Juushiro once more.“I don’t mean right now, Kita. Listen to me, you’re in danger…”The earth stopped shaking, and Kita growled under her breath adjusting little Kadaj in her arms, “Now you listen to me, Sumi. Leave. Me. Alone.” Kita’s last few words were hard and cold. She heard Sumi sigh and silence fell in her mind once more.
Sumi was gone.
Kita’s eyes closed and her head shook as she mumbled under her breath. “The nerve of her.” She took a seat in the chair next to Juushiro’s bed all the while Juushiro was watching her closely. She started feeding Kadaj, hoping everything was finally settled.

"Are you alright? You seemed to be arguing with yourself. Or with someone." Juushiro paused. "We can talk about it, if you want to. It doesn't have to go beyond this room."
Kita continued feeding Kadaj as she looked over at Juushiro with a defeated look in her eyes, “Why won’t she leave me alone? I just want to move on with my life. For once in 33 years I just want to be normal,” she gave an amused scoff, “at least as normal as I can make it.”
Juushiro set his hand over hers. "Kita, would you reject Ichimaru for that sense of normalcy?" Her eyes widened and she quickly shook her head, making her child fuss. She focused back on him and Juushiro continued. "Sumi can still protect you without it destroying your new life. Just as you've chosen to see the results of Ichimaru changing you. She's already a part of you. It might hurt you more to continuously reject her, forcing any pain of that fate constantly down."
“I’m just worried,” she sighed. “Worried that if I let her in even for the small things she will take advantage and then I will be right back to square one with her.”
Juushiro frowned. "Did she-" he halted. That wasn't his call to make. "How did she take advantage of you?"

“She hasn’t, but I don’t want to be her vessel anymore, and in reality, I don’t want her around,” Kita hesitated with a heavy sigh, “and it’s really not her.” She looked over at Juushiro as she sat next to his bed. “It’s Aizen or any other that might want to try and use me because of Sumi’s powers, and the people that frown upon me for what I have done with Sumi’s powers. I’m just done with it all.”
"I understand, and if that's the case, keep her powers down to protecting you and any young children you have. You already are unique with your own abilities. In time, any more will be overlooked. Perhaps forgotten."
"Not by Aizen."
"No, but if there was another danger like him, Sumi's protection would be a boon. You can't go through more like that without suffering deeply."
“Please don’t tell Gin,” she looked to Juushiro once more, “she said I was in danger. I thought she meant at that moment, but she wasn’t.”
"Why do you not want to tell Gin?"
“Because he is already so protective of me.” She giggled at the thought in her head. “I don’t want him climbing into my back pocket.”

Juushiro smiled in amusement. "He's that close, is he?" His joy grew at a nod and second laugh. "I admit I'm a bit surprised. I thought he would hide on the roof or do something of the sort after everything."
Kita’s head shook, “he has been by our side since we came home. Me. Sojiro, and little Kadaj.” She smiled. “I am so proud of him. Seeing him with Kadaj makes me want to give him another child of his own. It has to be hard on him raising Seto’s child, but if it is he has not shown me any signs.”
Juushiro nodded. "Well, Ichimaru has always had a soft spot for kids and outcasts. I never believed that was an act even when he was with Aizen."
Kita giggled loudly, "So that's why he liked me. I knew it had to be something because to him I was nobody. Insignificant, and what caused him to fall for me I will never know. I am such a pain in his ass." She covered her mouth with her free hand, "Excuse my language."
Juushiro waved away her apology. "I doubt he thinks that now."
She shook her head, “he doesn’t even like a reminder of it.”
"Probably not. It would remind him of a time he hurt you, if I recall correctly."
Kita smiled softly, “If he only knew all the times he hurt me.” She looked at Juushiro. “It wasn’t just when I was younger. Gin has given me many scars physically and mentally.” Her head shook, “but I will never let him know that. He has suffered enough in his lifetime.”
"What about your own suffering? Will being quiet be better for you? Or will it haunt you?"
