Kin enter the room with Koko now behind him as she now stepped out and slid the door close to give them privacy. Kin bowed to Byakuya. "Kuchiki-sama, thank you for your audience. I know things have been very busy for the captains of the Gotei 13. My condolences for the lose of your comrades, friends and fellow noblemen."
He offered him a seat where a fresh tray of tea rested to the top of the table. "Please, make yourself comfortable."

Byakuya nodded and took a seat on the opposite side of the table set before them, taking a sip from his cup, pausing at the familiar warming of spices, and then set it down again. “Thank you for your invitation and words. It is appreciated. And it will be difficult to find someone to fulfill the roles they did in their long lives.”
Kin nodded slowly looking down at his cup, both hands wrapped around it. "Yes, the two losses have surely placed a large void in the Gotei." He looked up at Noble. "But I know with men like you leading the ranks the ranks will prosper."
Byakuya considered staying silent, but then chose against such a tactic. "That seems to be a statement that refutes your stance on the organization the last time we met, Masanobu. What has changed your mind?"

Kin chuckled softly nodding his head. "Yes, yes it does. And that is the very reason I ask for your audience here this evening."
He looked into the eyes of the Captain bowing his head to the man. "I apologize for my actions and choice of word I used the other night when my mother invited you to dinner with our family. I was in the wrong, and I retract all that was said and done that night on my part."

For a few minutes, Byakuya was silent, and then he closed his eyes. “Your apology is accepted, Kin Masanobu, though it was honorable of you to defend your family. I apologize if my words offended your belief. It would have been better to have acknowledged that your family is different than my own. It is a blessing and luxury you should treasure.”

Kin nodded then took a sip of his tea, lowering his cup he looked to the man across from him. “It is one I hold very dear to heart. There is nothing more precious than family. One realizes this when they suffer a loss of a loved one.” He sighed and glanced across the room looking at the picture hanging on the wall.
“This is the first time my mother has taken an interest in another man since father’s death. She never even dared to speak to one other than business relations. Even with the promise my mother made to my father years ago. She stayed true to her family ties. Now,” he looked back to Byakuya. “Promise me one thing Kuchiki-same?”
"If I can," the high noble murmured, tone carefully neutral.
Kin looked into his stern eyes. “Let her down easily. I do not want to see her hurt over a man, any more than she already has.”

Byakuya was quiet for another few minutes, lifting and sipping his tea. Those words were not what he had expected from the young man, but they deserved a reply. Even if it could be an insight he did not wish to see. “I do not wish to hurt your mother,” he murmured, “and that would extend to any affection I may or may not feel for her.” He lowered his cup again, looking into the dark liquid. It was as honest as he could be on the matter with him.

"I did not say you wanted to. I am just asking you to let her down easily." He slid his empty cup to the side as the door slid open to the room. It was Koko once more, Kin standing from the table where they sat. He looked back to Byakuya.
"I will not pretend to know you personally, Kuchiki-sama, but I do know of your reputation as a Kuchiki and a Captain, and as one man to another. I understand why you never remarried. I just ask you to keep in mind that the interest my mother is showing for you is not as a friend, and I wish to not see or hear her crying over a man she decided to take an interest in. When he clearly has none for her."
He looked back to Koko. "Tell my mother she is free to come extend her condolences to Kuchiki-sama now."
Koko nodded and left the room closing the door behind her as Kin looked back to Byakuya. "I am sorry if that seemed harsh, but with what is going on in the Soul Society we need Saya. She is our pillar."

The high noble nodded. “I understand your sentiments, and I will keep them in mind.” He hesitated and then continued his thought. “It was I who told you to treasure your family as well. If it is as you believe, it would be dishonorable to do anything less after saying those words.” He would not say so out loud, but he had come today with that intention. With the change of his duties. He would not tie her down again. She had already done her duty to her house. He would not tie her down to an even more onerous one for a selfish ‘whim.’ Byakuya rose from his seat and looked to the young head. “I accept your apology once again. May your family flourish when the war ends."

The door slid again as both men looked its direction, this time it was Saya. She smiled to them both bowing as well as her son walked toward her. he rested a hand to her shoulder and kissed her forehead gently.
"I will leave you two to chat." Kin told her.
She nodded slightly. "I put your haori in your room, Kin."
He nodded in reply and left the room closing the door.
Saya turned her attention back to Byakuya and bowed to him again. "I heard what happened to the Captain Commander and the Thirteenth division Captain. My condolences to you and the Gotei." She stood and looked at him. "Is it allowed for outsiders to come pay their respect at their funeral? If it is I would like to come by and pay mine. They were honorable men."

Byakuya nodded. “Neither funeral will be a closed affair, and there will probably be two, considering their positions. A smaller affair as the heads of their respective clans and a larger event as venerable captains of the Gotei.” He turned to the courtyard. “There will be few who will not appear at least one of them…. I will be present at both. And I believe the Kyoraku clan will present another heir at the funeral for their leader.”

“Hm,” Saya hummed with a nod. “As is appropriate, I would expect nothing less.” She walked over behind him when he turned to look out to the garden, her hand sliding to his shoulder from behind.
“And how is the Captain of the Sixth division holding up? Hopefully as well as intended.”

“As it is expected,” Byakuya muttered. He turned to face her. “The Gotei and all around it will be on high alert for a while. And as that has given you more work than usual, I wish not to waste your few moments of peace. I have also accepted your eldest’s apology. You need not wait on me any longer. If that is your wish.”
His eyes sharpened imperceptibly at himself for those last words. He had meant to dismiss her, not give her the opportunity to remain in the room. His discipline was lacking in this area. But then again… his eyes searched hers. They always had been.

Saya giggled softly a slight shake of her head. "You are not disturbing my peace. In reality you are making it better. I have always enjoyed your company. I thought you knew that by now."
She stepped around him picking up the tea cups placing them both on the tray with the teapot. "Though I know you are busy as well." She stood and looked to him once more. "So if you need to go. I will not hold you any longer." When he nodded to her she quickly added. "I do hope to see you again. Maybe lunch one day next week."
He was about to speak as she interrupted him. "High alert or not..." She paused realizing what she had done as she cast her eyes down. "I beg your pardon. I should not have interrupted." She looked back to him. "But I did not want you to think you had no one to turn to if you needed someone."

Byakuya’s eyes closed, suppressing a sigh, as he turned around at her downcast tone. Her head was down, hands folded before her as she submitted herself to his admonishment. He could have done it, but instead he reached out and lifted her head with his hand on her chin. “You said nothing wrong,” he murmured. His voice fell further. “But at this time, you should be with your family. That is what is important.” He slowly let her go.

Saya looked up at him. "I understand your concern for things. My ranks my be smaller than the ones you look over, but our grief is the same when one is lost. Be it war, accident, or a malicious act. Just know I am here for you no matter the time of day and no matter what you may need. A ear, a shoulder or a tender pair of arms. Know you are not alone."
She then smiled slyly a slight playful sweeter tone entering her voice. "Don't make me have to come check up on you Captain Kuchiki, sir."
