Vacanze's eyes pierced the shopkeepers and he released Kita to grab the man's sword. He pushed it away from his throat and pushed him back in the process. His face showed rage.
"You humans and Soul Reapers are all the same. 'Mine mine mine. I'll kill you if you take her from me. She's mine to do with as I please.' Hollows and arrancars may be selfish as well, but we all live for a purpose. We all live by some aspect that we were born to represent. And the painful truth is that if you fail yet again at keeping her away from Aizen, I will skin you alive and string your bleeding carcass up as a warning to everyone who dares to harm or possess her. True, I have called her mine as well, but the difference is that she is always free to leave."
He pushed the shopkeeper back forcefully, causing him to land on his back. "Look at you two. She tries to run--to get away from whatever it is that's bugging her, and you two follow her like she's runaway cattle. Keeping her safe mean nothing if she is suffering because of it."
He turned back towards Kita and set his hand on her shoulder. "Another truth is that Kita belongs with whoever she choses. Even if you lot don't approve. None of you have any right to tell her where and with who she can live her life. Make no mistake, I WILL take her away from all of you if you fail to keep her out of Aizen's hands again. And not you or anyone else will be able to stop me."
He kissed Kita on the cheek and gave her a look of farewell. Seeing the look in his eyes, she nodded sadly and hugged him once more, kissing his cheek. He hugged her back and kissed her forehead. With not a word to anyone else, he opened the Gargaunta and disappeared through it. It closed and he was gone. |

Why she don't know for sure, but Kita walked over to Kisuke as he sat back to the ground. She offered a hand to help him as he took it. She smiled warmly at him. "He means no harm. He speaks only what he feels and thinks and he has always only wanted me safe and happy."Kisuke gave her an odd look as Kita giggled softly. "I see you're like Izuru and I am sure all the soul reapers feel the same. However, an arrancar is no different than you and I. If you treat them differently they will treat you in the same manner." Kisuke still looked at her oddly as he now stood in front of her. "If you were not nice to me would I not treat you in the same way?" Kisuke chuckled softly as he leaned forward and kissed her forehead. "At my age and I am still learning the facts of life." He wrapped his arm around her leading them back inside as he looked over to her. "You have not changed at all, Kita. You just don't remember." Kita smiled feeling a little more relaxed with Kisuke. "Master Gin tells me that too."
Kita, Kisuke, Hisagi and Izuru returned back in the shop Izuru and Hisagi carrying the two men Vacanze had knocked out.

"Understanding One Another":
Once Kita returned back in the shop with Kisuke and the others her appetite had returned as well. She sat talking to Hisagi, Izuru and the Shopkeeper Kisuke and ate her fill. When dishes were cleaned up and leftovers put away. She looked around the kitchen realizing that Tsukiro had not returned. Hisagi looked at her and pointed above them. She tilted her head confused. So he took her hand and walked her out to the front of the shop. He pointed to the roof and there Kita saw Tsukiro's leg or at least what Hisagi was telling her was Tsukiro. She looked back to Hisagi and smiled.
"Would you get me up there?" Kita asked him.
Hisagi smiled warmly and wrapped his arm around her. "Sure. Hold on."
Kita did as he told her and he lept to the roof. Landing softly Hisagi released her, turned and jumped back down. Tsukiro was laying on his back his arms folded under his head as he looked up in the sky. Kita slowly and carefully walked over next to Tsukiro and sat down with bended knees. He never looked her way once. When she looked over she saw his eyes were closed. She sighed and folded her arms on her bended knees, resting her head to her arms. She looked over the top of the houses strewn in front of her and waited for Tsukiro to wake up.

Though she had done nothing to wake him up, Tsukiro's very being sensed her beside him. Not because of her energy or anything. Simply because she was near him. His eyes slowly opened and he looked over to see her sitting next to him. He sighed.

She turned her head with a bright smile still leaving it rest to her arms. "I know what you were thinking when I came in and told you I went and woke Master Gin. I also know you don't understand why I treat him like I do. You think he is a bad person maybe even evil." She looked back out over the houses. "But you don't know him like I do. You know him from his actions. Not by the person he truly is. I won't lie and say he has never done something I disagree with or somthing I believed to be wrong."
She turned her head and looked at Tsukiro again. "But one thing I will tell you. Master Gin cares for me and he would never hurt me on purpose. He does what he does to stay alive himself and if I have to be used to help keep him alive I will do it."
Tsukiro turned and propped himself on his elbow and looked at her about to object when she stop him by resting her fingertip over his lips. "Haven't you ever had someone you care so much for you would be willing to die for them?" Tsukiro nodded looking into her eyes. "Master Gin would never allow me to die if he can avoid it. Just as I will would never allowed him to die. We are two pieces of the same puzzle and together we make that puzzle complete. We need to be together to stay alive. If not the puzzle can never be completed." She looked back over the houses once more and sat up straight. "And Aizen will win."

Tsukiro brushed his fingers against her cheek. "I don't think I'll ever understand what you see in him. I wish you would stop seeing him, but I have no right to tell you that. But just know that if he gets you hurt or worse I'll have his head for it. If he really cares about you he would do everything in his power to keep you safe, even from himself--purposeful or otherwise."
He sighed and sat up. He gazed out across the horizon at the clear blue sky. "I just want all this to be over so I can go back to living my life with you. I'm sick of Aizen fucking up my life for the hell of it. I'm tired of being angry. I've tried and tried to understand why he's doing this to try and find some sort of peace and closure. But every time I've almost moved past it, he rears his ugly head and fucks it all up again." |

Kita reached over, pulling back hesitantly then touched Tsukiro's hand. "I am sorry I don't remember us. I wish I did. You seem like a very amazing and caring guy. I am sure I thought of myself as very lucky." She chuckled with a soft blush. "And I am sure I had to fight off more than one girl."

Tsukiro shook his head and smiled painfully. "No. No, I was the jealous one. Every man in Soul Society wanted you--still wants you--but I would never let them give you the time of day. It... it was hard on you. And I'm sorry for that. Once Kisuke figures out how to get the collar off, I promise you that I will try my best to do better."
He moved closer to her and put his arm around her, pulling her into a hug. He kissed her temple. "I love you..."
His heart ached for her to return his words, but he knew they were not coming. Even if his unreturned words pained him more each time he said them, he would continue to say them over and over until his last breath. |

She returned his kiss on his cheek then cupped it gently. "I am sure I loved you just as much." She told him as she gazed into his eyes with a warm smile across her lips. "I promise to try and understand your pain and thoughts on all this, but you have to promise me you will return that favor." She let her hand slowly slip away from his cheek still looking in his eyes. "I may never remember, but that does not mean I am not the same person. Master Gin and even the Shopkeeper Kisuke have told me that. If I fell in love with you once..."
She paused as her smile grew wider. "I am sure I could fall in love with you again."

Tsukiro's heart swelled and he pulled her into him. "I promise. I would do anything for you. I would do anything to keep you in my life. Even if it means making you fall for me all over again. I'll show you that we belong together. I love you more than anything."

Sometime later, the backdoor of the shop slid open. Juushiro waved at the soul reaper sitting by the gate with his usual smile then picked up the watering can on the steps. Kisuke had come waking him up in the late morning asking if he would mind doing the gardening for Tessai since he needed him for something in the lab. Yesterday afternoon, Yoruichi had wondered if he would make his dumplings again. And although the captain was beginning to see some sort of pattern in the way those at the shop distracted him when he was silent for too long, Juushiro appreciated it.
It kept him from worrying too deeply.
The captain chuckled as he turned on the hose. Small wonder Shunsui had sent him here.

Seeing Juushiro under them out in the garden Kita looked to Tsukiro and whispered softly as she pointed down at the white haired Captain. "Now which one is he?"
Tsukiro chuckled. "Captain Juushiro Ukitake. You have only met him a few times. He is really nice."
Kita looked to Tsukiro smiling. "Do you think I could meet him? Again." She giggled softly.

Tsukiro smiled warmly at her and nodded. "Of course." He held his arms out to her and she climbed into them. He held her tightly and stood up. Leaping off the roof, he landed neatly beside the captain. "Captain Ukitake. I have someone that wants to meet you again." |
