"Alone?":It had been one month since he had been made Kita's keeper. One month since he nearly lost his life to a surprise attack by Grimmjow. Grimmjow had torn into his body, keeping his vow to make Vale pay for the wounds he left after his attack on Kita. Vale was left with scars that marked his face and wrapped around his body, from his right shoulder to his left hip. Kita had done her best to heal his wounds like he requested. But, he would lose sight in his right eye. Vale lay on his back in front of the couch in Gin's Chambers. "You can sit you the couch, you know." said Kita as she walked by. "I don't like you all mopey like this." "You didn't like me before." he snapped at her as he sat up. "And, I'm not mopey. I'm just...glum. Listless." Kita nodded. "Mopey." Vale grunted and fell back to the floor. "How did he put up with this for so long?"

Kita looked to Vale shaking her head. "How did who put up with this for so long? Master Gin?" She disappeared into the kitchen hearing the teapot whistle that it was ready. "You know if you were not so bullheaded I could also remove the scars and restore the vision in your eye."

"It has nothing to do with my stubbornness. They will remain where they are until Jeagerjaquez is dead." He rubbed his now blind eye. "How odd is it, I wore an eye patch when I could see but I refuse to wear one now?" Vale rose and walked into the kitchen where he took a seat at the table. "I haven't asked in quite some time. How are you holding up?"

Kita sighed. "I miss Gin, but I will do what I have to to make it through this mess without him here. I won't let him down and in time he will be free again and back here where he belongs. Not in that prison being a human punching bag."
She lifted the two cups of tea and carried one over to Vale setting it before him on the table. "Are you hungry? I can whip up some lunch if you are."

He nodded and took the cup in his hand. "He would be proud of the progress you've made." Vale blew gently on the tea before taking a sip. "I am. Your Lord Aizen should be pleased, as well." He rubs his shoulder. "Do you have any cookies?"

Kita smiled bashfully at Vales words. "Thank you Vale and I hope, at least on Gin's part. I don't care what Aizen thinks. The only thing he needs to do is be happy that I can open the gates so I can get Gin freed."
She then stood with Vale's question and walked over to a small cupboard opening the door. She looked in and smiled. "Your in luck. It seems we do have some cookies." She took them from the shelf placing a few on a plate and returned to the table with them setting them in center for both of them to enjoy.
Sitting down across from him once more she looked to Vale. "I know you are not supposed to tell me." She looked down at the plate of cookies as she continued. "But what are they doing to Gin? Sumi won't tell me."

Vale shook his head with a heavy sigh. "You know what I am going to tell you, Kita. Think, if only for a moment. If the goddess is withholding that information from you, what makes you think that you will get it from me?" He looked to her with concerned eyes. "What good what it do you to know, anyway?"

Kita sighed again. "Even though I know what Gin is living through without being told what is happening to him..." she paused and looked up at Vale. "I have a very vivid imagination and I know Aizen can do worse than what I can imagine..." she closed her eyes and hung her head as she felt the stinging of tears rising in her eyes.
"Why did he do this? He has to know what it is doing to me. He knows..." Kita folded her arms on the table resting her head to her arms and started to cry. "Why? I miss him so much."

Vale rose from his seat and walked over to Kita. He took her hand in his, gently caressing the back side of her hand with his thumb. "Do not torment yourself, Kita. You know why he's doing this for you. You know that he endures whatever your Lord Aizen has in store, only for you. And, I am quite sure he does not want you here wallowing in pity." He stooped until they were at eye level with each other. "No more of this, ok?"

Kita dried her tears and looked to Vale as she nodded to him. "I know, but if it was meant for me I should be the one getting punished. Not him in my place. He has the Master Pet relationship backwards. I should be covering for him. Not him for me."
She shook her head and sniffled her hand drawing into a fist a determined look in her eyes. "I swear if we do finally make it out of here alive I am going to beat him to death."

Vale wiped away Kita's tears. "So, you would leave only to come back? Just to beat him senseless?" He stood up straight, scratching the back of his head as he stood. "Women. You make no sense when you're in your emotions." He turned towards the table. "Now, if you don't mind. I would like to drink my tea without fear of you crying again. I don't know what to do with all these tears."

Kita giggled softly. "When and if we get to leave there will be no coming back for either of us. It will finally be over and we can live in the human realm without fear of Aizen coming after us."
She looked to Vale as he picked up a cookie and took a bite of it. "You can come with us if you want. Maybe even be welcome back in the soul society again."

"Going back would certainly end in a more official exile." He took another bite of the cookie. "Like you need something else to cry over." Vale looked at Kita, her eyes wanting to know more than he was telling. He let out a deep sigh and sat back down. "I...I killed my master, Kita. His rank guaranteed my exile. So, even if I wanted to go home, I can't."
