"Glimmer of Hope or Final Moments?":Reeling in pain as Chinmoku's power cut away at her insides, Kita laid to the ground. She clutched at her chest as she rocked while laying on her side. Blood trickled from her mouth and breathing was difficult. Her heart raced, she could feel the missed beats as it hammered in her chest. Her body was on fire from the inside, the pain so intense, her injured hand and wounds to her outer shell were mear papercut in comparison. She had to calm down she had to get her wits about her or she was as good as dead. Her power, what little she had, needed to be concentrated on healing her, but first she had to stop the fury of Chinmoku that stormed inside her body. She had no clue where Sumi had sent her. She only knew she was alone and far enough away she could no longer feel the others reiatsu around her. That was one thing that was in her favor. She closed her eyes tighter and fought back the excruciating pain that swelled inside her. Finally, after what felt like hours and many breakthrough tears, Kita had stopped the raging Chinmoku within her body. Her powers and body were taxed, she could do no more. Her body relaxed and she breath in slowly then cough covering her mouth. The metallic taste of blood coated her tongue. She opened her eyes, for what she believed would be the last time. To her surprise she saw a beautiful body of water with a flowing waterfall. Large rocky formations seemed to surround her with greenery growing from the rocky walls and colorful flowers. The water crystal clear and smelt crisp and clean. She smiled, a few tears trickling from her eyes."At least Sumi dumped me some place pleasant to die." She wrenched in pain clutching her arms around her torso her eyes closing tightly again. "If Sumi don't hurry. This will be my final resting place." She thought to herself.

Gin cursed as he felt Kita’s energy disappear from Aizen’s place, vision nearly going black with fear. Was she go-
“She’s nearby, Gin,” Sumi called out in his mind. Gin winced at the volume. “I will keep Aizen’s focus…” her voice faded.
But Gin didn’t care. He whirled around, reaching inside himself for the link to Kita and fell to his knees as her pain assaulted his senses. FUCK! His reiatsu fluctuated as he wrestled with the sheer terror and agony running through Kita. His hands clenched, he clutched his head, spasms of pain tore through his chest… Time faded. Gin’s temper erupted!
"DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!" he screamed, lashing out with all of his powers.
At the same time as Aizen reached for his release.
His former protege didn’t notice and didn't care. Seething, his bare hands ripped through a dozen hollows who had gathered around his twitching form before he drew Shinsou and slashed through a few more.
"OUT OF MY WAY!"
“….pleasant place to die.”
"That is NOT happening, dearie.”
He vanished in a sea of blood and screams and reappeared on the opposite side of the lake from Kita’s side. Glaring at everything around him, he waded into the water before him and then fell off the the drop. A few moments later, the fox reappeared at Kita’s side. Dripping water and blood, cursing every person under his breath, he threw her hands away from her torso and let his healing powers flow into her body.
“Stupid brat…."
“Dumb shopkeeper…."
“Useless Soul Society…."
“I’ll tear Cero’s innards out and feed them to the bitch..."
“Bastard stray dog…."
“Damn Aizen, you will scream....."
“Fuck me for not winning last time….."
“Kita ….. damn you… for caring so much…"

Kita was too weak to do anything, but lay there under Gin and his healing powers. She winced in pain when he tossed her hand aside to aid her. His growing reiatsu was crushing in her weakened condition. She looked up into his slitted blue eyes. She saw rage, hatred and bloodlust; and one that surprised her. Fear. What was he doing helping her? Why would he care if she lived or died? She was just there for his amusement. A laugh, his entertainment, but then there were the times they were alone. The times Aizen hurt her with Gin watching. His rage and his eyes telling her so much more...
She turned her head from him, a single tear trickled down the side of her face. "Why--" Her hand quickly covered her mouth as she coughed, blood erupting from between her fingers. "Why do you--" She coughed again slightly drawing her legs up and grabbed her chest with her other hand, "hate me--" she coughed more. Blood spilling to her neck and chest from under her hand that was over her mouth. She started to roll to her side going into a fetal position as Gin caught her arm and put her flat on her back once more.
"Shut up!" He hissed at her.
Kita winced again both arms wrapping around her torso. "It hurts so bad." Her voice barely above a whisper as tears streamed down her cheeks washing away the blood that stained them. She coughed again her head turning as blood erupted from her mouth again staining the ground under her.

“If you’ll fight it with me, you’ll be free of it,” Gin spat. He couldn’t help but sound harsh. Right now, the siren call for violence to halt his fear could only be held at bay with his rage. And he had plenty of that. For the path he had chosen to end it all. For Kita. Better rage than fear and despair.
His hands tightened around her arms as she tried to curl up and hide again, murmuring another question. He couldn't care less. It didn’t matter now. “Ask questions later and focus, idiot! Come on!” he shouted. As she shook her head, he growled. “Don’t make me force you to fight, dearie. I will. You are. not. going to die here. I order it!”

Her head started to pound, her vision blurred. Gin's harsh words and temperament not even phasing her because of the intense pain she was in. "I..." she coughed again this time choking on it as it rolled back down her throat. She knocked Gin back from her trying to push herself up as she hacked, gagged and then coughed up more blood. Her breathing came in gasps as she tried to fill her lungs with air.
It hurt... No... It was excruciating. A pain she never wanted to live through again and she wanted it to end. Gin was right. It was time to pull it together. She claimed herself again collecting her thoughts, concentrating on healing herself. Her lungs first. She needed air and she was sure they were running hand in hand with the damage of her heart.
"M-M-my... heart. I can feel... it slowing... help." She called to Gin.
Her arms started to buckle as she forced herslef to stay up right so not to choke on the blood again.

Gin released her to settle himself behind her and reached for her hip, tugging her toward him. She wavered, and almost instantly, she struggled against him, her meager powers forming a shield. His eyes narrowed.
“I told you, Kita, you don’t have time for that,” he stated, voice toneless this time. He yanked on her arm, forcing her into his lap hard. Grunting, he wrapped his arms around her. Kita cried out, shaking her head and scratching at his arms. Another cough jolted her, spilling warm liquid into his lap.
“Let… go….” she pleaded, voice nearly gone, trembling like a leaf.
Gin contemplated for a moment before squeezing her and then slowly, ignoring the pain building in his crumbling heart at her whimpers, he settled his hand over her gasping heart, letting his powers flow directly into her. She stilled. Whether it was from shock or relief he didn’t know.
“I will,” he murmured, gentling his hold, “after your heart calms. This position is better for you.”
She continued to shake against his chest. He dared to kiss her ear and as she froze, he whispered, “Afterwards, you can do what you want to me. I won’t stop you. For now, use me to heal yourself. You can’t fight anyone, even a low hollow, at the moment. For once, ignore your instincts to flee."
"Please..." His voice cracked.

Kita started to tremble in his hold, her heart calming, her breathing more relaxed and even as she breathed in and exhaled slowly. Her injured hand lifted and grabbed the front of his shihakusho as her head slowly lifted and looked into Gin's eyes, tears pooled there.
"Master. It hurts..."
Cringing in pain her hand released his shihakusho falling to her lap.

Gin set his free hand over hers. "I know..." he murmured, coaxing. "I know...." He wrapped his fingers around her stiff fingers and stroked them slowly, kissing her hair. "Focus on breathing, Kita. I won't let you go, so focus on one thing at a time."
He paused. "Even if you believe you're my amusement, you should realize you're too useful to let die now." She chuckled without any humor, coughing down her front again then leaned against him. He stroked the skin above her heart. Silent for a few minutes. Then...
"I am right here, dearest. You can get past this."

Kita only nodded as she leaned against him and concentrated on her breathing and healing her lungs, while Gin healed her heart. If only it was that easy though. She was in the arms of a man she believed to be an enemy.
She looked up at him, his features and eyes now softer as he looked back at her. But was he really her enemy? Was he really everything Aizen said? Which was the truth between the two of them? She wanted to believe in the man that held her at that moment, but was her heart ruling her mind like Aizen said or was her heart the only thing that was the truth in this game between the two men?
She lowered her eyes and head from Gin's gaze, her mind clouded and confused as she started to lose her concentration on healing herself. She started to cough again, this time harder, but luckily nothing came up. Just a cough.

As she coughed, Gin’s arms tightened around Kita and he gritted his teeth, keeping silent, forcing himself to not lash out at her. Again. Finally, she stopped and -before he could stop himself - a sigh slipped past his lips. A low breath against the back of her neck.
Silence fell between them again.
Then, Kita’s head lolled on her shoulders and he pinched her arms. “You can’t sleep yet, Kita,” he stated. “You’re still in danger.”
“Please master…. I can’t … do this…..”
Gin’s eyes narrowed, though his gaze remained soft. Carefully, he lifted her up into his arms. Kita's eyes rolled to him, tainted with fear, distrust, doubt and pained confusion. He tried to grin at her. “I won’t hurt you. Didn’t I promise you? Besides," the fox shrugged, "you can't really fight me right now."
She stared into his eyes then slowly lowered her cerulean eyes. He strode into the pool, keeping his arms around her. Her arms clenched around his own, her eyes wide like a rabbit’s, but Gin didn’t speak. He kept walking. As he reached the drop, he pulled both of them forwards and then released her.
She flailed only to find herself resting on top of his floating body.
Gin watched her reactions through slitted ice blue eyes as he floated, arms behind his head.
"Why?" she asked, sitting up and wrapping her arms around her middle.
“It’s cool enough that you won’t sleep here."

Starting to relax Kita looked up into the blue sky. The moon hung high above them. It was silent there. Almost to silent, but again in the silence she found comfort and found herself concentrating on healing once more.
It was a couple of hours later when Kita's breathing was easier with no laboring, her concentration turning to the over all of healing her insides. For what seemed likes a few more hours this went on as the two of them healed her with no sign of Sumi at all. Why? Did she still trust Gin even with what Aizen had told her and proven to them both? And why did Gin seem so much stronger than the last time they met. His reiatsu was crushing like Sumi's. Was this what he was hiding from Aizen? But all the other times...
Kita sighed as a shiver ran through her body. Lifting her hands she rubbed her arms cringing when her injured hand touched her arm. She lifted it in front of her looking at the blade wound that went clean through. From behind Gin's head came his fingertips slowly sliding up her arm, his hand then spread open as he placed his palm to hers and laced their fingers together. Kita watched as a soft blue light radiated around their hands. Her wound healing as she watched it close, the skin repaired and not a mark, not even a blemish remained. She shivered again, her hand tightening against Gin's as he still held her hand in his.

Finally Gin broke the silence. Reaching up with his free hand, he stroked her chapped cheek. He missed her. Desperately. And having this half-empty version of her against him wasn’t the same. Painfully not the same. The connection between them wasn't something he could cut away or bury, ignoring its call. Even if that fact led to dangerous vulnerability, it was late. Far too late. “Do you still fear me, Kita?” he asked.

Kita closed her eyes with Gin question. She searched her heart and mind. Slowly her mind drifted, as if floating on a cloud. She looked back, back further than she had thought in a long while. Memories. Memories of a man she was told was dangerous, of one that used her, looked at as his amusement, one that could never love or care. In her memories none of that existed. Only a loving caring man she saw. A friend, her protector... Her light in the darkness. At that image Kita jolted back to reality. Not remembering where she was, she moved quickly.
"GIN!"
She fell in the water going under. Feeling a hand grab her arm pulling her up her eyes opened seeing Gin in front of her. She threw her arms around his neck and started to sob. She pulled back from the embrace with a relieved and excited smile. Unable to contain her excitement that he was there with her, she pressed her lips to his.

Gin returned the kiss almost as feverishly as she gave it, wrapping his arms tight around her and holding her body as close to his pounding, clenching chest as he could. She was back. The goddess hadn’t lied. His arms shook and he hissed. Vale and his master’s work could be undone. “Gin, I-“
Suddenly both of them went under. Gin pulled both of them up again, gasping and coughing. His hand stayed around her wrist, almost vicelike in its intensity. He didn’t speak. Just looked at her drenched form and trusting eyes. He stroked her cheek again, slower, deliberately delaying just this simple touch. His eyes were solemn, crystal-like with emotions he wouldn't voice.
An end to the suffering was possible.

Kita blinked clearing the water from her sight as she chuckled softly, looking into his eyes. "If you're trying to purify me, it's a little too late. You have already weaseled your way into my heart." She tilted her head with a thinking look in her eyes as she looked into his. "Or would that be foxed?"
She smiled warmly with a soft chuckle. "I have missed you so much."
