Sajin parried Ashimitsu's attack with one hand, and palmed his head with his other. In a quick sweeping motion, Sajin slammed Ashimitsu to the ground. With the boy still beneath his grasp, Sajin drove his body deeper into the ground, until his own chest was flush with the ground. He lifted himself to his feet, pulling Ashimitsu out of the deep hole he put him in as he rose.

For a third time, Tsukiro was breathless. For a small moment, his eyes rolled into the back of his head and his vision blacked out, his sword falling from his hand and his Shunko fizzling out. However, his sheer will snapped him out of it quickly and he looked into Komamura's eyes as he held him up in the air. His bones were weak and couldn't take much more. In his mind he cursed his helplessness against Komamura. If he couldn't even defend himself against this hulking, nine foot man, how could he hope to fight against someone like Aizen and his army? Or even lead his squad and the Onmitsukido?
"No..." Tsukiro grunted out. "I won't... give up. Not now!" Tsukiro unsheathed his zanpakuto and pointed it to the ground. "Bathe in shadows, Kuroitsuki Kage!"
Within seconds, Tsukiro phased down through Komamura's grasp as if he wasn't even there and a black void opened up beneath him. Tsukiro fell through the void and it closed up, reappearing behind Komamura. Tsukiro appeared half way through the void and raised his hands, aiming at Komamura's back. Suddenly, his Shunko erupted around his back and arms again, this time in the form of lighting.
"Shunko!" Tsukiro shouted and a violet lighting bolt shot from his hands and at Komamura.

Lightening danced around Sajin's body. He looked over his shoulder at the semi transparent boy. A toothy grin formed on his lips. Without warning or incantation, a red light beamed from behind him completely engulfing Ashimitsu. The boy fell to the ground, completely unable to move. He was paralyzed. Sajin leaned over and removed Ashimitsu's zanpakuto from his hand.

Tsukiro grunted as he struggled to get up. But it was no use. Komamura's kido was too strong for him. He couldn't even clench his fists. He struggled harder, but only succeeded in making his muscles hurt and ache.
Get up! Get up! I have to get up! I can't lose like this!!
Master... A voice he had not heard in a long time echoed in his head. We have lost.
No we haven't! If I can break out of this stupid Kido--
Master, even if you did, you would not be able to beat him. Even with your bankai. It is not enough. He is stronger than we are, in many different ways.
I can't give up now!!
Accept your defeat nobly. You fought well. Take pride in that.
I couldn't get even one hit in on him. Where is the pride in that? What pride do I have?
Do you really need to ask me that?
Tsukiro looked up at Komamura, then let his eyes fall back down. He closed them, too ashamed to keep them open. He couldn't remember the last time he had won in a fight. It was probably back before Kita was taken. He couldn't believe that he was ever one of Yoruichi's students. Yoruichi never--
No, that wasn't true. She didn't exactly win against the fight against Aizen. And if even with all her strength, even she couldn't beat him, then he never had a chance to beat Komamura in the first place. He had been set up with a losing battle from the beginning.
He sighed. "I accept my defeat. May I please get up now? The dirt on the ground doesn't exactly taste like a five star meal."

Sajin picked Ashimitsu up and carried him over to where Hirabayashi was standing. He placed him in the soft grass beneath the tree behind them. "Rest now, Tsukiro Ashimitsu. You have done well. Take pride in what you have done here, today." He removed his haori and draped it over the body of Ashimitsu. Sajin looked to Hirabayashi.
"Well done, Third Seat Ashimitsu." she smiled at Ashimitsu before looking to Sajin. "Captain Komamura, please take Ashimitsu to the Fourth Division. I will deliver the news to the Captain Commander."
Sajin lifted Ashimitsu, cradling the boy in his arms. "Well done, Ashimitsu." he said. "Well done." Hirabayashi held open the doors, as they made their exit from the training facility.

"Match Between Equals": (continued)
Byakuya remained silent as they exited the seventh division and walked towards the captain's training field, though he listened to the words. He knew all too well the fallacies of pride. It had almost cost him a sister. Twice. But this was different. A few members of the 12th division bowed their way before returning to their work on the side, probably checking the devices in the area that filtered the reiatsu. It kept the whole area from being choked in reiatsu if the captains were serious enough. Or... Kurotsuchi saw this as a good opportunity to collect data. Byakuya ignored them and shed his haori, leaving it on the side. He drew his zanpakuto and set the scabbard on top of the haori. His eyes were flint. Yes, this was different. This was about family. And his personal honor.

Sajin followed behind Kuchiki, ignoring the members of the the 12th staring at him before they bowed. He, too, removed his haori leaving the plate above his heart visible. He drug his claws across the plate as he turned towards Kuchiki. "The price of being human. I have no heart and, therefore, can not die. You are doing this for the sake of your pride. Let this be your reason to hold back nothing."
Sajn's zanpakuto remained tethered to his side, as he sqaured with Kuchiki.

Byakuya closed his eyes. "If that is what you believe," his opened eyes narrowed, "so be it."
He released his zanpakuto in blur and the beautiful wave of petals rushed towards him. Komamura dodged the first crescent and as he dodged, Byakuya vanished. The waves of sakura multiplied and rose higher, obscuring the area around the werewolf. The noble could focus an attack anywhere.

Sajin planted his feet firmly to the ground. His eyes widened and darted around his surroundings. His fellow captain was strong. Fast. Unpredictable. Another crescent of Senbonzakura's petals rushed towards him. And, again he dodged. Then, came a third and a forth - One from both sides. He shunpo'd straight up into the air and hovered over the petals dancing below him.

For a moment, the noble was visible before the ocean of petals obscured him. Then two large waves rose up into air around him. As the wolf leapt higher, Byakuya raised his hand and started to direct smaller arcs, wrapping them slowly but surely around his fellow captain, but just before the trap could be finished, the wolf burst through with a mighty punch that flung his shields backwards, revealing him again.
As the wolf rushed him, Byakuya stayed still. A huge wave of sakura blossoms rose up, slowing his opponent’s speed. The noble vanished again, reappearing right behind him, firing up a Kido bolt.

Sajin brought his hands together, seemingly catching the bolt of kido. He pulled his hands apart, deflecting and redirecting the kido. He shunpo'd from view again. This time appearing directly above Kuchiki. Drawing his zanapakuto as he fell, Sajin called for its realease and swing. A disembodied arm appeared and swung blade as Sajin did, striking at his fellow Captain.

“Danku,” Byakuya whispered, halting the disembodied sword just long enough for the captain to move out of the way. As Sajin swung his blade outwards towards his signature of reiatsu, the noble’s eyes flashed and he raised the hilt of his zanpakuto. A wall of petals blocked the large blade before being slowly pushed aside. As the wall fell, Byakuya disappeared again, reiatsu concealed. “I was correct. You are a good opponent for this endeavor,” the noble stated from somewhere around the other captain. Ripples of delicate petals swirled around the werewolf. Waiting.

Sajin stood still and silent in the midst of the floating petals. The disembodied arm floated high behind him. He closed his eyes and took in the various scents around him. Then, waited for his fellow Captain to make his move.

Suddenly a spiral of petals shot out at him from the right, and as he dodged, Byakuya emerged from the opposite side, another kido bolt in his hand. The werewolf’s golden eyes narrowed, his free hand reaching out and grabbing a fistful of the noble’s shihakusho. The hand with his zanpakuto swung. A flurry of petals rose up, the ground splintered, and his hold ripped. Byakuya finished his lightning step backwards, a thin cut appearing on his chest and forehead.

Sajin stood tall and looked at his fellow Captain. "I apologize for that, Captain." He held his zanpakuto out in front of him with both hands. The petals of Senbonzakura still floated about as Sajin centered himself. "Shall we continue?"
