"What is there to think about, Shopkeeper?" asked Alister, appearing in the room in a spark of fire. "The fire can not be quelled by anything from the Soul Society. Why dwell on it?" The god crossed his arms over his chest and looked to the Shopkeeper with a smile. "It was not created to be stopped. Not by any of you."

“Then what is the purpose of it?” Juushiro asked in a steely voice, standing to his feet. “If it was meant to destroy us, the Seraph wouldn’t be able to help, so why are you telling us this? A message from Tervaden?"

Alister shook his head. "This is no message from Tervaden." He looked to the recovering Soul Reaper. "I am not his messenger. If you wish for this blaze to burn until the Soul Society is reduced to nothing, continue on this distrusting path, Juushiro Ukitake. I do enjoy the scent of despair."

Juushiro eyes narrowed, but Yumiko stepped in front of him.
“The attack was from Vale. He told me that he wanted to bring Soul Society to its knees. To acknowledge the presence of evil - that it would never be completely gone. I don't think he was lying. But you’re the reason it is still burning after I nearly killed him. Why continue it? Soul Society hasn’t given up, and it won’t.”

Alister laughed as a grin formed on his face. "I will not take blame for this blaze, my dear Ryouma. This flame was set by one Szayelaporro Granz." He walked over to Ryouma and placed a finger under her chin. "A fire ignited by my spark would have ended the Soul Society before you saw the flame." He looked to the ailing Captain Commander. "If you wish to have this fire put out, it comes at a price."

Alister narrowed his eyes at the petite Captain. "Spineless?" The god suddenly appeared in front of the captain and placed a hand to his zanpakuto. "And, who exactly are you to call me spineless, Captain Hitsugaya? A taste of strength and a fridge demeanor still makes you absolutely nothing to me, boy." He leaned over until he was eye level with the boy. "Go ahead. Call upon your power. Make. Me. Laugh."
The god set a finger to the Captain's chest and laughed. "I can hear your heart beat with rage, child. Calm yourself before you do something you will regret."

"Alister," a meek and frail voice spoke to him, "please. In all that is fair and just letting the Soul Society be destroyed..." Kita paused and looked at the God of fire as he turned his head looking at her.
"It would be... wrong. You know this. So why? Why would you ask for something in return to restore something you were sent to watch over and protect by order of your own King?"

"I was ordered by the Soul King to return Vale Tervaden to Las Noches. I did so. This destruction was birthed in his mind and brought to fruition by his command." Alister looked to the human woman before him. "There is a touch of the divine in you. So, you know of the law of equivalent exchange." He grinned. "You all are running out of time. Fight a fire that you can not quell. Or, let me end it at the cost of its equal."

"Then, let is burn!" shouted Alister. Flames began to dance around the god as he turned to face the petite captain, once more. "I am a god, you foolish child. I am in charge of the balance! And, your arrogance will be the fall of the Soul Society! For your arrogance, dear child, this fire will burn forever in the Soul Society and you will be in charge of keeping it a bay - Never being able to put it out. From this day forward, Captain Hitsugaya, you shall be know as the Guardian of the Flame."

"NO! Please wait!" Kita stepped toward the God of Fire her hand extended before her reaching for him, her eyes locked with his and spoke before Toshiro could say anything else. "And what is the equal to have you stop the fire?"
Kita touched the God's chest wincing at the fire that burned her fingertips. "Please Alister. Don't do this. Please."

"Forgive Captain Hitsugaya," Juushiro stated, calling the god's attention to himself. He bowed his head. "And myself. Soul Society has lost much at the hands of Tervaden in the last few days alone. And there have been a few personal attacks to each of us. As head of Soul Society in the Captain Commander's place, I ask you to tell us what price you will name for stopping these flames."

Alister smiled innocently, the flames dancing around him calmed. "A price to equal that of the Soul Society, Captain. Your zanpakuto." He nodded. "I will seal the power of every zanpakuto in existence or to be manifested for ten years." Alister looked to the Captain Commander. "Then, for five years, only twenty percent of the zanpakuto shall be unsealed each year. That is your price."

Yumiko paled and visibly wavered on her feet before Juushiro set a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it to reassure her.
Turning back to the god, he shook his head. "Forgive me, Allister. That price is too much. Without our zanpakuto, we cannot protect the Realms. We cannot send the human souls to their rest or even visit the Living Realm. There is also the fact that sealing the zanpakuto will take away a precious bond between soul reapers and zanpakuto and if we are defenseless, the hollows will grow more powerful, with or without Sousuke Aizen or Vale Tervaden. Is there another price or a way to lower that one?"

Alister looked curiously to the human woman. "Does she not harbor the Seraph? Will I leave you without your kido? And, who do you believe ushered souls to their proper place before your zanpakuto came into existence?" He looked to the Acting Captain Commander. "I am not so cruel to leave you without a way to defend yourselves. Besides, Captain Ukitake. How does this differ from when your zanpakuto manifested themselves and rebelled? Did I mention, you are running out of time?"
