Raelin shook her head quickly. “I can’t do that. You’re still recovering and I just healed you. I’m not letting you hurt your arm more - if it’s still not well. I won’t!” She lowered her head, blushing deeply at her outburst.
She reached for his hand as he lay there. “I can take the sofa. It’s still close to you, so I should be able to sleep. But …. if that’s not good enough…” she lowered her head further, “we could share the bed. But we both need to rest.”

Uryu nodded. "Lie down, Raelin. There is no harm in sharing the same bed for the night." He moved over, pulling the blankets down on the other side of the bed. "Come. Rest. Perhaps we will both sleep soundly knowing that we are just within arms reach of each other." Removing his glasses and setting them to the table, Uryu yawned again.
"Raelin?"

“Sorry,” she whispered. “A chill flowed through me…” Shaking her head slowly, her long shimmering hair fanning around her, she tried to push her anxiety away and laid down in the bed.
As Uryu wrapped the sheet around her, she breathed in slowly, taking in the warmth around her. Her wings faded and she turned around, curling against him as he laid down next to her. "Good night, Uryu," she breathed.

Uryu kissed Raelin's forehead, smiling as she curled into him. "You're safe with me, Raelin. I promise. I will protect you with my life..." His words trailed off as he sat up in bed. His brow furrowed, as he closed his eyes.
"Do you feel that?" Uryu climbed out of bed, snatching his medallion and crest from the table. Uryu looked out of the window. Turning away quickly, he ran out of the room.
"Stay here, Raelin!" he yelled, his voice fading as he ran from the apartment.

Raelin bolted up as Uryu disappeared from her side and another shiver ran down her body. “Uryu!” she called out. In vain. He had already gone. Her hands went to her necklace, wrapping her fingers around it and her ring. She closed her eyes for a moment as her wings flared up at the acute danger that filled the air around her and then slid off the bed. “I’m sorry, Uryu. I can’t follow that order. I won't wait around this time...."
She grasped her pendant hard, releasing her own Quincy powers. As her bow formed in her hand, her wings folded and she flashed away.
To be continued.... - END RP -

"In Matters of the Heart":
As sirens wailed outside and neighbors packed their belongings around her, Raelin watched through her porch door, wrapped in a blanket as her wounds healed. The humans had little choice but to flee the disaster they couldn’t understand. She, as a Quincy and as Angel, had no choice but to wait. Wait to see who had escaped the Goddess’ trap and wait for Uryu to return to her. She twisted the ring on her finger, fearing tightening the beats of her heart. The last time she had waited she’d lost her mother and the Quincy race had diminished to a small flame.
She laced her hands together. The Goddess had seen her; she’d left a mark on her. Did she really have no choice? Was the duty of her heritage, to remain hidden, that important?
Raelin closed her eyes and turned from the balcony. “Forgive me…” she whispered. Walking over to a window facing the trees outside, she disappeared.
She would find Uryu… Moved

"Helpless":Uryu walked in silence. His footsteps heavy, crushing broken glass and wood planks on the floor. Ash and dust coated the air, making it hard to see. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw Naito standing in the doorway. His armor glowed, as did the fire in his eyes.
Pushing the door to his bedroom open, he stepped in. He closed the door behind him and walked over to the bed. Sighing as he sat on the bed's edge, Uryu looked out through a broken window.
Uryu took a note from his coat pocket and read over it. It contained one word. Just one.
Goodbye.

"You're not giving that to me," a soft voice murmured.
Stepping out from the closet, Raelin shed the cloak of concealment and looked in her fiance's guarded eyes. "Uryu..." She sat beside him and took his hand in hers, eyes over-bright. She was silent for a few moments, staring into his eyes, before wrapping her other arm around him. "Are you sure?" she whispered.

Uryu nodded, pulling his hand from Raelin's. "I am. I can not, and will not allow you to be there. I won't." He rose from the bed, stepping away from Raelin. "This is not up for discussion, either. You are not coming with me."
Raelin rose from bed, raising her hand to her lips. "Uryu...please."
Uryu drew back and raised his bow. "No...No."

Raelin froze as the bow came up to to keep her away. Then she started shaking her head. “You can’t do this,” she whispered. “It’s not fair that you go through it alone, Uryu. We promised…” She fell back to the bed, feeling her energy to resist fading…. just as when her house had emptied but for her alone. She looked to the ring around her finger. “We promised to stay together…”
Please don't put me through it again.

"Some promises have to be broken..." he mumbled. Still pointing his bow toward her, Uryu narrowed his eyes. "Do not make this harder than what this is meant to be. I heard about your foolish attempt to save me. Your argument and tears are ill spent."
"Just go."

Raelin lowered her head, not even bothering to hide the tears as they fell like jewels down her face. “I’m sorry…” she whispered. “I’m sorry….” She buried her face in her hands, shoulders shaking as her pain for her partner threatened to consume her. It just couldn’t be….
Uryu stayed silent but didn’t leave, his tall bow rigid between them.
A few minutes later, she took a small breath and rose. “Please, Uryu, no matter what…” she lowered her head, “stay alive.” She kissed the ring on her finger. “Please. That’s all I ask.”

Uryu lowered his bow, sighing as he turned his back to her. He walked toward the door, glancing over his shoulder at the crying woman. "I don't have a choice..." Uryu opened the door of the bedroom, opening it to the sight of Naito grinning ear to ear. "Are we through here?" grinned Naito. "They are moving. And, I would rather not miss the fun." His glowing eyes widened at the sight of the other Quincy. "Don't get in the way, doll. Daddy ain't here to save you."Uryu pushed Naito out of the way as he left the room. He said nothing to Raelin as he left the apartment with Naito not far behind.

"A Quincy's Path":Uryu reached into the back of the cupboard, removing a small grey case. He opened it, finding a dusty pair of glasses inside. Uryu closed it with a loud snap and shoved it into his rucksack. He closed the cupboard door gently. Turned toward the dusty kitchen table, he picked a book that was teetering on the edge of the table. He blew away the layer of dust from the cover.
"Why are you following me?" he asked out loud, sliding the book into his rucksack. "I believe that Takai asked you to stay at the manor. She is concerned with the frequency of your disappearances, considering the number of enemies making themselves known."
Uryu turned around, pushing his glasses along the bridge of his nose. "You should have stayed with the others."

Raelin stood in the doorway between the main room and the balcony, a wide hat over her braided white hair. “I’m sorry,” she murmured. “I heard you were going back home and …” She looked up. “I know we’re not together anymore, but I still feel closer to you than I do to the others."
She lowered her head again. I don't know what is going to happen to us as we stand, but I think there's more hope with you.
She turned around and brushed dust off one side of the reading table. "Can we check on the Kurosakis before we go back?"
